Cargo and luggage
Capacity and distribution
Cargo capacity depends on the total weight of the occupants.
(Cargo capacity) = (Total load capa city) — (T
otal weight of occupants)
Steps for Determining Correct Load Limit 
(1) Locate the statement “The combined weight of occupants and cargo should ne
ver exceed XXX kg or XXX lbs.” on your vehicle’s placard.
(2) Determine the combined weight of th e driv
er and passengers that will
be riding in your vehicle.
(3)Subtract the combined weight of the driv
er and passengers from
XXX kg or XXX lbs.
(4)The resulting figure equals the availabl
e amount of cargo and luggage
load capacity.
For example, if the “XXX” amount equals 1400 lbs. and ther
e will be
five 150 lb. passengers in your vehi cle, the amount of available cargo
and luggage load capacity is 650 lbs. (1400  750 (5150) = 650
lbs.)
(5)Determine the combined weight of luggage and cargo being loaded
on the vehicle. That weight may no t safely exceed the available cargo
and luggage load capacity calculated in Step 4.
Take notice of the following informat ion about storage precautions, cargo
capacity and load:
● Stow cargo and luggage in the trunk whenever possible.
● Be sur
e all items are secured in place.

o maintain vehicle balance while driving, position luggage evenly
within the luggage compartment.

or better fuel economy, do not carry unnecessary weight.

CAUTION
■Things that must not be carried in the trunk
The following things may cause a fire if loaded in the trunk:
●Receptacles containing gasoline
●Aerosol cans
■Storage precautions
Observe the following precautions.
Failing to do so may result in death or serious injury.
●Stow cargo and luggage in th e trunk whenever possible.
●Do not place cargo or luggage in or on the following locations as the item may
get under the brake or accelerator pedal and prevent the pedals from being
depressed properly, block the driver’s vision, or hit the driver or passengers,
causing an accident:
• At the feet of the driver
• On the front passenger or rear seats (when stacking items)
• On the package tray
• On the instrument panel
•On the dashboard
●Secure all items in the occupant compartment, as they may shift and injure some-
one during sudden braking, sudd en swerving or an accident.
■Capacity and distribution
●Do not exceed the maximum axle weight ra ting or the total vehicle weight rating.
●Even if the total load of occupant’s weight and the cargo load is less than the total
load capacity, do not apply the load unevenly. Improper loading may cause dete-
rioration of steering or braking control which may cause death or serious injury.

The glove box can be opened by pressing the lock release button and
locked and unlocked using the mechanical key.

The trunk opener main switch is located in the glove box. ( P. 6 0 )
CAUTION
■Caution while driving
Keep the glove box closed when not in use. In the event of sudden braking, an acci-
dent may occur due to an occupant being struck by the open glove box or the items
stored inside.

Do not leave the luggage mat lever hooked on the edge of the trunk as the luggage
mat may get damaged.

Maintenance and care
■Caring for leather areas
Lexus recommends cleaning the interior of the vehicle at least twice a year to main-
tain the quality of the vehicle’s interior.
■Shampooing the carpets
There are several commercial foaming-type cleaners available. Use a sponge or
brus
h to apply the foam. Rub in overlappin g circles. Do not use water. Wipe dirty
surfaces and let them dry. Excellent results are obtained by keeping the carpet as
dry as possible.
■Seat belts
Clean with mild soap and lukewarm water using a cloth or sponge. Also check the
belts periodically for excessive wear, fraying or cuts.
CAUTION
■Water in the vehicle
●Do not splash or spill liquid in the vehicle, such as on the floor, in the hybrid bat-
tery (traction battery) air vents, and in the trunk. 
Doing so may cause the hybr id battery, electrical components, etc. to malfunc-
tion or catch fire.
●Do not get any of the SRS components or wiring in the vehicle interior wet. 
(  P. 105) 
An electrical malfunction may cause the airbags to deploy or not function prop-
erly, resulting in death or serious injury.
