■Before emergency towingThe “ENGINE START STOP” switch must be in the ACCESSORY mode
(engine off) or IGNITION ON mode (engine running).
Put the four-wheel drive control switch in H4. (The center differential is
unlocked.)
Put the vehicle height in the N mode and press height control switch to
turn off the rear height control air suspension.
Shift the shift lever in N.
Release the parking brake.
CAUTION
■Caution while towing
●Use extreme caution when towing the vehicle. 
Avoid sudden starts or erratic driving maneuvers which place excessive stress on
the emergency towing eyelets and the cables or chains. Always use caution for
the surroundings and other vehicles while towing.
●Do not turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch off. 
Doing so will lock the steering wheel and prevent operation, possibly causing an
accident and result ing in death or serious injury.
●If the engine is not running, the power assi st for the brakes and steering will not
function, making steering and braking more difficult.

Fuel pump shut off system
Follow the procedure below to restart the engine after the system is acti-
vated.
Turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch to ACCESSORY mode
or turn it off.
Restart the engine.
NOTICE
■Before starting the engine
Inspect the ground under the vehicle. 
If you find that fuel has leaked on to th e ground, the fuel system has been damaged
and is in need of repair. Do not restart the engine.
To minimize the risk of fuel leakage when the engine stalls or an airbag
inflates upon collision, the fuel pump shut off system stops supplying fuel to
the engine.

*1: Open door warning buzzer:
The open door warning buzzer sounds to alert one or more of the doors is not
fully closed (with the vehicle having reached a speed of 3 mph [5 km/h]). 

*2: Driver’s and front passenger’s seat belt reminder buzzer:
The driver’s and front passenger’s seat belts reminder buzzer sounds to alert
the driver and front passenger that his/he r seat belt is not fastened. Once the
“ENGINE START STOP” switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode, the buzzer
sounds for 4 to 8 seconds. If the vehicl e reaches a speed of 12 mph (20 km/h),
the buzzer sounds intermittently for 10 se conds. Then, if the seat belt is still
unfastened, the buzzer w ill sound in a different tone for 20 more seconds.

system Stop the vehicle in a safe place. Turn the “ENGINE
START STOP” switch off and then turn it to IGNI-
TION ON mode again to re set the cruise control sys-
tem.
