■After changing the engine oil (U.S.A. only)
The engine oil maintenance data should be reset. Perform the following proce-
dures:
Press the Menu switch ( P. 212) to change the multi-information display
to blank.
Turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch off.
While pressing the ODO/TRIP button ( P. 1 9 5 ) , t u r n t h e “ E N G I N E
START STOP” switch to IGNITION ON mode.
Continue to press and hold the butto n for more than 7 seconds after the
“ENGINE START STOP” switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode.

appear on the display. After 5 seconds, the
system reset will be completed.

■Before recharging
When recharging, the battery produces hydrogen gas which is flammable and
explosive. Therefore, observe the following before recharging:
●If recharging with the battery installed on the vehicle, be sure to disconnect the
ground cable.
●Make sure the power switch on the charger is off when connecting and discon-
necting the charger cables to the battery.
■After recharging/reconnecting the battery
●Unlocking the doors using the smart key system may not be possible immedi-
ately after disconnecting the battery. If this happens, use the wireless remote
control or the mechanical key to lock/unlock the doors.
●Start the engine with the “ENGINE START STOP” switch in ACCESSORY
mode. The engine may not start with the “ENGINE START STOP” switch
turned OFF. However, the engine will operate normally from the second
attempt.
●The “ENGINE START STOP” switch mode is recorded by the vehicle. If the bat-
tery is reconnected, the vehicle will return the “ENGINE START STOP” switch
mode to the status it was in before th e battery was disconnected. Make sure to
turn off the engine before disconnect the battery. Take extra care when con-
necting the battery if the “ENGINE START STOP” switch mode prior to dis-
charge is unknown.
If the system will not start even after mult iple attempts, contact your Lexus dealer.

CAUTION
■Tire pressure warning system operation
The tire pressure warning system may not provide warning immediately if a tire
bursts or if sudden air leakage occurs.
■When inspecting or replacing tires
Observe the following precautions to prevent accidents. Failure to do so may cause
damage to parts of the drive train, as well as dangerous handling characteristics,
which may lead to fatal or injury accidents.
●Do not mix tires of different makes, models, tread patterns or treadwear.
●Do not use tire sizes other than those recommended by Lexus.
●Do not mix radial, bias-belted, or bias-ply tires.
●Do not mix summer, all season and winter tires.

*1: Open door warning buzzer:
The open door warning buzzer sounds to alert one or more of the doors is not
fully closed (with the vehicle having reached a speed of 3 mph [5 km/h]). 

*2: Driver’s and front passenger’s seat belt reminder buzzer:
The driver’s and front passenger’s seat belts reminder buzzer sounds to alert
the driver and front passenger that his/he r seat belt is not fastened. Once the
“ENGINE START STOP” switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode, the buzzer
sounds for 4 to 8 seconds. If the vehicl e reaches a speed of 12 mph (20 km/h),
the buzzer sounds intermittently for 10 se conds. Then, if the seat belt is still
unfastened, the buzzer w ill sound in a different tone for 20 more seconds.

In the following cases, the warning light may not be displayed even if vehicle-to-
vehicle distance decreases:
●When your vehicle and the vehicle ahead are traveling at the same speed or the
vehicle ahead is traveling more quickly than your vehicle
●When the vehicle ahead is traveling at a very low speed
●Immediately after cruise control speed is set
●At the instant the accelerator pedal is depressed
■After changing the engine oil (U.S.A. only)

Emergency start function
When the engine does not start, the following steps can be used as an
interim measure to start the engine if the “ENGINE START STOP” switch
is functioning normally:
Set the parking brake.
Shift the shift lever to P.
Turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch to ACCESSORY
mode.
Press and hold the “ENGINE START STOP” switch for about 15
seconds while depressing the brake pedal firmly.
Even if the engine can be started using the above steps, the system may
be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
■ The starter motor does not turn over, interior lights and headlights
do not turn on, or the horn does not sound
One of the following may be the cause of the problem:
●One or both of the battery terminals may be disconnected.
● The battery may be discharged. ( P. 74 1 )
● There may be a malfunction in the steering lock system.
Contact your Lexus dealer if the problem cannot be repaired, or if
repair procedures are unknown.

Changing “ENGINE START STOP” switch modes and starting the engine
Ensure that the shift lever is in P and depress the brake pedal.Touch the Lexus emblem side of
the electronic key to the
“ENGINE START STOP” switch.
If any of the doors is opened or
closed while the key is being
touched to the switch, an alarm will
sound to indicate that the start
function cannot detect the elec-
tronic key.
To change “ENGINE START STOP” switch modes: Within 10
seconds of the buzzer sounding , release the brake pedal and
press the “ENGINE START STOP” switch. Modes can be
changed each time the switch is pressed. ( P. 1 8 1 )
To start the engine: Press th e “ENGINE START STOP” switch
within 10 seconds of the buzz er sounding, keeping the brake
pedal depressed.
In the event that the “ENGINE START STOP” switch still cannot be oper-
ated, contact your Lexus dealer.
