Automatic heating and air condi- tioning The automatic climate control system is
controlled by simply setting the desired
temperature.
The Full Automatic Temperature Control
(FATC) system automatically controls the
heating and cooling system as follows;
1. Push the AUTO button. It is indicated
by AUTO on the display. The modes,
fan speeds, air intake and air-condi-tioning will be controlled automatically
by temperature setting. 2. Turn the temperature control knob to
set the desired temperature.
If the temperature is set to the lowestsetting (Lo), the air conditioning sys-
tem will operate continuously.
3. To turn the automatic operation off, press any button except temperature
control knob, air-conditioning button
and air intake control button. If you
press the mode selection button,
defrost button or fan speed knob, theselected function will be controlled
manually while other functions operate
automatically.
Regardless of the temperature setting,
when using automatic operation, the airconditioning system can automatically
turn on to decrease the humidity inside
the vehicle, even if the temperature is set
to warm.✽✽ NOTICE
Never place anything over the sensor
located on the instrument panel to
ensure better control of the heating and
cooling system.

Driving your vehicle
ISG auto-starting
Before and after the engine enters the
idle stop mode, the ISG system will auto-
matically check all the necessary items
such as the safety of the vehicle and pas-
senger comfort.
The engine will start automatically with-
out the driver's action if any of the follow-ing occurs:
If the brake vacuum pressure is low
If the fan speed of the manual climatecontrol system is set above the 3rd position when the air conditioning is on
If the fan speed of the automatic cli- mate control system is set above the6th position when the air conditioningis on
According to outside temperature or setting temperature of the climate con-trol system when the air conditioning ison
When the defroster is ON
When the battery charge status is low
If the vehicle speed is over 5km/h by rolling down a hill
It could be different up to the vehicle con-dition.
When the automatic starting occurs, the
"AUTO STOP" indicator on the cluster
will blink for 5 seconds. ISG(Idle Stop and Go) system
deactivation
If you desire to deactivate the ISG sys-
tem, you can do it temporarily by press-
ing the ISG OFF button located on the
left side of the instrument panel.
After pressing the ISG OFF button, the
light on the button will illuminate.
The ISG system will activate by pressing
the ISG OFF button again and the button
light will turn off. ✽
✽
NOTICE
When the ISG related sensors or sys-
tem error occurs, the ISG OFF button
light will illuminate. If the button light
is not turned off by pressing the ISG
OFF button again or if the ISG system
continuously does not work correctly,
please contact an authorized KIA
dealer as soon as possible.
Also, if the battery charging status is
low, the ISG OFF button light will
illuminate. When the button light
comes on, it may stop illuminating
after driving your vehicle at approxi-
mately 80 km/h for a maximum of two
hours and setting the fan speed con-
trol knob below the 2nd position. If
the button light continues to be illumi-
nated in spite of the procedure, please
contact an authorized KIA dealer as
soon as possible.

TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)malfunction indicator
The low tire pressure telltale will illu-
minate after it blinks for approximate-
ly one minute when there is a prob-
lem with the Tire Pressure Monitoring
System. If the system is able to cor-
rectly detect an underinflation warn-
ing at the same time as system fail-ure then it will illuminate both the
TPMS malfunction and low tire pres-
sure position telltales e.g. if Front Left
sensor fails, the TPMS malfunction
indicator illuminates, but if the FrontRight, Rear Left, or Rear Right tire is
under-inflated, the low tire pressure
position telltales may illuminatetogether with the TPMS malfunction
indicator.
Have the system checked by an
authorized KIA dealer as soon as
possible to determine the cause of
the problem.
WARNING - Low pressure
damage
Significantly low tire pressure
makes the vehicle unstable and
can contribute to loss of vehicle
control and increased brakingdistances.
Continued driving on low pres- sure tires can cause the tires to
overheat and fail.CAUTION
The TPMS malfunction indica- tor may be illuminated if thevehicle is moving around elec- tric power supply cables orradios transmitter such as atpolice stations, government and public offices, broadcast-ing stations, military installa-tions, airports, or transmitting towers, etc. This can interferewith normal operation of theTire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
The TPMS malfunction indica- tor may be illuminated if someelectronic devices, such asnotebook computers, are used in the vehicle. This can inter-fere with normal operation ofthe Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

What to do in an emergency
Changing a tire with TPMS
If you have a flat tire, the Low Tire
Pressure and Position telltales will
come on. Have the flat tire repaired
by an authorized KIA dealer as soon
as possible or replace the flat tire
with the spare tire. Each wheel is equipped with a tire pressure sensor mounted inside the
tire behind the valve stem. You must
use TPMS specific wheels. It is rec-
ommended that you always have
your tires serviced by an authorized
KIA dealer.Even if you replace the low pressure
tire with the spare tire, the Low Tire
Pressure and Position telltales will
remain on until the low pressure tire
is repaired and placed on the vehi-
cle.
After you replace the low pressure
tire with the spare tire, the TPMS
malfunction indicator may illuminate
after a few minutes because theTPMS sensor mounted on the sparewheel is not initiated.
Once the low pressure tire is reinflat- ed to the recommended pressure
and installed on the vehicle or theTPMS sensor mounted on the
replaced spare wheel is initiated by
an authorized KIA dealer, the TPMS
malfunction indicator and the low tirepressure and position telltales will
extinguish within a few minutes of
driving.
If the indicators are not extinguished
after a few minutes of driving, please
visit an authorized KIA dealer.CAUTION
If a original mounted tire is
replaced with the spare tire, theTPMS sensor on the replaced spare wheel should be initiatedand the TPMS sensor on theoriginal mounted wheel shouldbe deactivated. If the TPMS sen- sor on the original mountedwheel located in the spare tirecarrier still activates, the tire pressure monitoring systemmay not operate properly. Havethe tire with TPMS serviced or replaced by an authorized KIAdealer.
CAUTION
NEVER use a puncture-repair-ing agent to repair and/or inflatea low pressure tire. The tire sealant can damage the tirepressure sensor. If used, youwill have to replace the tire pres- sure sensor.

Maintenance
AIR CLEANER
Filter replacement
You can clean the filter when inspecting the air cleaner element.
Clean the filter by using compressed air.
1. Loosen the air cleaner cover attaching clips and open the cover. 2. Wipe the inside of the air cleaner.
3. Replace the air cleaner filter.
4. Lock the cover with the cover attaching
clips. Replace the filter according to the
Maintenance Schedule.
If the vehicle is operated in extremely
dusty or sandy areas, replace the ele- ment more often than the usual recom-
mended intervals. (Refer to “Maintenanceunder severe usage conditions” in this section.)
OYN079014OYN079015
CAUTION
Do not drive with the air cleaner removed; this will result in exces-
sive engine wear.
When removing the air cleaner fil- ter, be careful that dust or dirtdoes not enter the air intake, or
damage may result.
Use a KIA genuine part. Use of nongenuine parts could damagethe air flow sensor, turbochargeror engine.
