If a malfunction occurs in the front passenger
air bag system, the supplemental air bag warn-
ing light
, located in the meter and
gauges area, will blink. Have the system
checked by an INFINITI retailer.
Other supplemental front-impact air
bag precautions
WARNING
c Do not place any objects on the steering
wheel pad or on the instrument panel. Also,
do not place any objects between any occu-
pant and the steering wheel or instrument
panel. Such objects may become dangerous
projectiles and cause injury if the front air
bag inflates.
c Immediately after inflation, several front air
bag system components will be hot. Do not
touch them; you may severely burn yourself.
c No unauthorized changes should be made to
any components or wiring of the supplemen-
tal air bag system. This is to prevent acciden-
tal inflation of the supplemental air bag or
damage to the supplemental air bag system. c
Do not make unauthorized changes to your
vehicle's electrical system, suspension sys-
tem or front end structure. This could affect
proper operation of the front air bag system.
c Tampering with the air bag system may re-
sult in serious personal injury. Tampering
includes changes to the steering wheel and
the instrument panel assembly by placing
material over the steering wheel pad and
above the instrument panel or by installing
additional trim material around the air bag
system.
c Modifying or tampering with the front pas-
senger seat may result in serious personal
injury. For example, do not change the front
seats by placing material on the seat cush-
ion or by installing additional trim material,
such as seat covers, on the seat that is not
specifically designed to assure proper air
bag operation. Additionally, do not stow any
objects under the front passenger seat or the
seat cushion and seatback. Such objects
may interfere with the proper operation of
the occupant classification sensor (pressure
sensor). c
No unauthorized changes should be made to
any components or wiring of the seat belt
system. This may affect the front air bag
system. Tampering with the seat belt system
may result in serious personal injury.
c Maintenance on and around the front air bag
system should be done by an INFINITI re-
tailer. Installation of electrical equipment
should also be done by an INFINITI retailer.
The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)
wiring harnesses* should not be modified or
disconnected. Unauthorized electrical test
equipment and probing devices should not
be used on the air bag system.
c A cracked windshield should be replaced im-
mediately by a qualified repair facility. A
cracked windshield could affect the function
of the supplemental air bag system.
* The SRS wiring harness connectors are yellow and orange for easy identification.

cThe LDP system will not operate at speeds
below approximately 45 MPH 72 km/h) or if it
cannot detect lane markers.
c The LDP system may not function properly
under the following conditions, and do not
use the LDP system:
± During bad weather (rain, fog, snow, wind, etc.).
± When driving on slippery roads, such as on ice or snow, etc.
± When driving on winding or uneven roads.
± When there is a lane closure due to road repairs.
± When driving in a makeshift lane.
± When driving on roads where the lane width is too narrow.
± When driving without normal tire condi- tions (for example, tire wear, low tire
pressure, installation of spare tire, tire
chains, non-standard wheels).
± When the vehicle is equipped with non- original brake parts or suspension parts. c
If the LDP system malfunctions, it will cancel
automatically. The lane departure warning
light (orange) on the instrument panel will
illuminate.
c If the lane departure warning light (orange)
illuminates, pull off the road to a safe loca-
tion and stop the vehicle. Turn the engine off
and restart the engine. If the warning light
(orange) continues to illuminate, have the
LDP system checked by an INFINITI retailer.
c Excessive noise will interfere with the warn-
ing chime sound, and the chime may not be
heard.
The functions of the LDP system (warning and
brake control assist) may or may not operate
properly under the following conditions:
c On roads where there are multiple parallel
lane markers; lane markers that are faded or
not painted clearly; yellow painted lane
markers; non-standard lane markers; or lane
markers covered with water, dirt, snow, etc.
c On roads where discontinued lane markers
are still detectable.
c On roads where there are sharp curves.
c On roads where there are sharply contrast-
ing objects, such as shadows, snow, water, wheel ruts, seams or lines remaining after
road repairs. (The LDP system could detect
these items as lane markers.)
c On roads where the traveling lane merges or
separates.
c When the vehicle's traveling direction does
not align with the lane marker.
c When traveling close to the vehicle in front
of you, which obstructs the lane camera unit
detection range.
c When rain, snow or dirt adheres to the
windshield in front of the lane camera unit.
c When the headlights are not bright due to
dirt on the lens or if the aiming is not
adjusted properly.
c When strong light enters the lane camera
unit. (For example, the light directly shines
on the front of the vehicle at sunrise or
sunset.)
c When a sudden change in brightness occurs.
(For example, when the vehicle enters or
exits a tunnel or under a bridge.)
While the LDP system is operating, you may
hear a sound of brake operation. This is normal
and indicates that the LDP system is operating
properly.

WARNING
cThe VDC system is designed to help improve
driving stability but does not prevent acci-
dents due to abrupt steering operation at
high speeds or due to careless or dangerous
driving techniques. Reduce vehicle speed
and be especially careful when driving and
cornering on slippery surfaces and always
drive carefully.
c Do not modify the vehicle's suspension. If
suspension parts such as shock absorbers,
struts, springs, stabilizer bars and bushings
and wheels are not INFINITI approved or are
extremely deteriorated the VDC system may
not operate properly. This could adversely
affect vehicle handling performance, and the
ªVDC OFFº indicator or ªSLIPº indicator or
both indicator lights may illuminate.
c If brake related parts such as brake pads,
rotors and calipers are not standard equip-
ment or are extremely deteriorated, the
ªVDC OFFº indicator or ªSLIPº indicator or
both indicator lights may illuminate.
c If engine related parts such as muffler are
not standard equipment or are extremely de-
teriorated, the ªVDC OFFº indicator or ªSLIPº
indicator or both indicator lights may
illuminate. c
When driving on extremely inclined surfaces
such as higher banked corners, the VDC sys-
tem may not operate properly and the ªVDC
OFFº indicator or ªSLIPº indicator or both
indicator lights may illuminate. Do not drive
on these types of roads.
c When driving on unstable surfaces such as a
turntable, ferry, elevator or ramp, the ªVDC
OFFº indicator or ªSLIPº indicator or both
indicator lights may illuminate. This is not a
malfunction. Restart the engine after driving
onto a stable surface.
c If wheels or tires other than those recom-
mended are used, the VDC system may not
operate properly and ªVDC OFFº indicator or
ªSLIPº indicator or both indicator lights may
illuminate.
c The VDC system is not a substitute for winter
tires or tire chains on a snow covered road. The Rear Active Steer system is an electronically
controlled four-wheel steering system.
The angle of the rear wheels are adjusted by the
Rear Active Steer system, depending on the
vehicle speed and steering angle. The rear
wheels are designed to turn momentarily in the
opposite direction and then change to the same
direction as the front wheels.
At low speeds, the rear wheels will not turn and
the system functions as a two-wheel steering
system.
If a malfunction occurs in the system, the Rear
Active Steer function will stop but the ordinary
two-wheel steering system will operate nor-
mally. The ªRASº warning light will illuminate. If
the light illuminates while driving, contact an
INFINITI retailer for repair.
WARNING
The Rear Active Steer system, although a so-
phisticated device, cannot prevent accidents
resulting from careless or dangerous driving
techniques. Ultimately the responsibility for
safety of self and others rests in the hands of
the driver. Therefore only through attentive
and careful driving methods can the Rear Active
Steer system be fully appreciated and safety
assured.

VEHICLE RECOVERY (freeing a stuck
vehicle)
WARNING
cStand clear of a stuck vehicle.
c Do not spin your tires at high speed. This
could cause them to explode and result in
serious injury. Parts of your vehicle could
also overheat and be damaged.
Pulling a stuck vehicle
If your vehicle is stuck in sand, snow, mud, etc.,
use a tow strap or other device designed spe-
cifically for vehicle recovery. Always follow the
manufacturer's instructions for the recovery de-
vice.
Do not use the tie down hooks for towing or
vehicle recovery.
Front :
Open the hook cover on the front bumper.
Securely install the vehicle recovery hook
s1
stored with jacking tools as illustrated. Attach
the tow strap to the recovery hook. Make sure
that the hook is properly secured in the original
place after use. Rear :
Do not use the tie down hook
s2to pull the
vehicle.
CAUTION
c Tow chains or cables must be attached only
to the vehicle recovery hooks or main struc-
tural members of the vehicle. Otherwise, the
vehicle body will be damaged.
c Do not use the vehicle tie down hooks to free
a vehicle stuck in sand, snow, mud, etc.
Never tow a vehicle using the vehicle tie
down hooks.
c Always pull the cable straight out from the
front of the vehicle. Never pull on the vehicle
at an angle.
c Pulling devices should be routed so they do
not touch any part of the suspension, steer-
ing, brake or cooling systems.
c Pulling devices such as ropes or canvas
straps are not recommended for use in ve-
hicle towing or recovery.

REMOVING SPOTS
Remove tar and oil spots, industrial dust, in-
sects, and tree sap as quickly as possible from
the paint surface to avoid lasting damage or
staining. Special cleaning products are avail-
able at an INFINITI retailer or any automotive
accessory stores.
UNDERBODY
In areas where road salt is used in winter, the
underbody must be cleaned regularly. This will
prevent dirt and salt from building up and
causing the acceleration of corrosion on the
underbody and suspension. Before the winter
period and again in the spring, the underseal
must be checked and, if necessary, re-treated.
GLASS
Use glass cleaner to remove smoke and dust
film from the glass surfaces. It is normal for
glass to become coated with a film after the
vehicle is parked in the hot sun. Glass cleaner
and a soft cloth will easily remove this film.
CAUTION
When cleaning the inside of the windows, do
not use sharp-edged tools, abrasive cleaners or
chlorine-based disinfectant cleaners. They
could damage the electrical conductors, radio
antenna elements or rear window defroster
elements.
ALUMINUM ALLOY WHEELS
Wash regularly with a sponge dampened in a
mild soap solution, especially during winter
months in areas where road salt is used. Salt
could discolor the wheels if not removed.
CAUTION
Follow the directions below to avoid staining or
discoloring the wheels:
cDo not use a cleaner that uses strong acid or
alkali contents to clean the wheels.
c Do not apply wheel cleaners to the wheels
when they are hot. The wheel temperature
should be the same as ambient temperature.
c Rinse the wheel to completely remove the
cleaner within 15 minutes after the cleaner is
applied.
CHROME PARTS
Clean chrome parts regularly with a non- abra-
sive chrome polish to maintain the finish.
TIRE DRESSING
INFINITI does not recommend the use of tire
dressings. Tire manufacturers apply a coating
to the tires to help reduce discoloration of the
rubber. If a tire dressing is applied to the tires,
it may react with the coating and form a com-
pound. This compound may come off the tire
while driving and stain the vehicle paint.
If you choose to use a tire dressing, take the
following precautions:
c Use a water-based tire dressing. The coating
on the tire dissolves more easily with an
oil-based tire dressing.
c Apply a light coat of tire dressing to help
prevent it from entering the tire
tread/grooves (where it would be difficult to
remove).
c Wipe off excess tire dressing using a dry
towel. Make sure the tire dressing is com-
pletely removed from the tire tread/grooves.
c Allow the tire dressing to dry as recom-
mended by tire dressing manufacturer.

TIRE CHAINS
Use of tire chains may be prohibited according
to location. Check the local laws before install-
ing tire chains. When installing tire chains,
make sure they are the proper size for the tires
on your vehicle and are installed according to
the chain manufacturer's suggestions.Use only
SAE Class S chains. Class ªSº chains are used
on vehicles with restricted tire to vehicle clear-
ance. Vehicles that can use Class ªSº chains are
designed to meet the SAE standard minimum
clearances between the tire and the closest
vehicle suspension or body component re-
quired to accommodate the use of a winter
traction device (tire chains or cables). The mini-
mum clearances are determined using the fac-
tory equipped tire size. Other types may dam-
age your vehicle. Use chain tensioners when
recommended by the tire chain manufacturer to
ensure a tight fit. Loose end links of the tire
chain must be secured or removed to prevent
the possibility of whipping action damage to
the fenders or underbody. If possible, avoid
fully loading your vehicle when using tire
chains. In addition, drive at a reduced speed.
Otherwise, your vehicle may be damaged
and/or vehicle handling and performance may
be adversely affected. Tire chains must be installed only on the rear
wheels and not on the front wheels.
Never install tire chains on a TEMPORARY USE
ONLY spare tire.
Do not use tire chains on dry roads. Driving with
tire chains in such conditions can cause dam-
age to the various mechanisms of the vehicle
due to some overstress.
CHANGING WHEELS AND TIRES
Tire rotation
INFINITI recommends rotating the tires
every 7,500 miles (12,000 km). (See
ªFLAT TIREº in the ª6. In case of emer-
gencyº section for tire replacing proce-
dures.)
