Digital air conditioning
The air conditioning operates when the engine is r unning, as well as in STOP mode with Stop & Start.
Automatic operation
1. Automatic "comfort" programme
Press the "AUTO" button. The "AUTO" symbol is displayed. We recommend that you use this mode. It provides optimised automatic control of all of the following functions: passenger compar tment temperature, air flow, air distribution and air intake, in accordance with the comfor t value that you have chosen. This system is designed to operate effectively in all seasons, with the windows closed.
For your comfor t, when the engine is switched off, the settings are retained until the engine is switched on again. To prevent too great a distribution of cold air when the engine is cold, the air flow will only reach its optimum level gradually.
2. Temperature adjustment
The value indicated on the display corresponds to a level of comfor t and not to a temperature in degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit.
On entering the vehicle, if the interior is very cold or hot, there is no need to change the value displayed in order to reach the required level of comfor t. The system corrects the temperature difference automatically and as quickly as possible.
Press the " " and " " buttons to change this value. A setting around the value 21 enables optimum comfor t to be obtained. However, depending on your requirements, a setting between 18 and 24 is usual.
3 . A u t o m a t i c " v i s i b i l i t y " programme
The automatic comfor t programme may not be sufficient for rapid demisting or defrosting of the windscreen and side windows (humidity, several passengers, ice, etc.). In this case, select the automatic visibility programme. The button 3 indicator lamp comes on. The system automatically controls the air conditioning and the flow of air and provides optimum air distribution to the windscreen and side windows. It deactivates air recirculation 5 .
To exit this programme, press button 3 again or "AUTO" , the indicator lamp on the button goes off and "AUTO" is displayed.
With Stop & Star t, when demisting has been activated, the STOP mode is not available.

It is possible to adjust one or more functions manually while leaving the other functions in automatic mode.
The "AUTO" symbol switches off. To return to automatic mode, press the "AUTO"button.

4. Air conditioning on/off
For maximum cooling or heating of the cabin, it is possible to go beyond the minimum 14 or maximum 28 values. Press the blue button 2 until "LO"is displayed or the red button 2until "HI" is displayed.
Press this button to switch off the air conditioning. Stopping the air conditioning may cause some problems (humidity, misting). Automatic operation of the air conditioning is resumed when the button is pressed again. The symbol "A /C" is displayed.
5. Air intake/Air recirculation
Press this button for recirculation of the interior air. The air recirculation symbol 5 is displayed.
Air recirculation enables the passenger compar tment to be isolated from exterior odours and smoke. Press this button again or press the "AUTO"button to resume automatic management of the intake of air. The air recirculation symbol 5goes off.
Avoid prolonged recirculation of interior air (risk of condensation or deterioration of the air quality).
Switching to manual mode may not be suitable (temperature, humidity, odour, condensation) and does not provide optimum comfor t.

6. Air distribution adjustment
Pressing this button several times in succession enables the air flow to be directed in turn towards:
- the windscreen and the side windows (demisting or defrosting), - the windscreen, side windows and air vents, - the windscreen, the side windows, the air vents and the footwells, - the windscreen, the side windows and the footwells, - the footwells, - the air vents and the footwells, - the air vents.
Avoid driving for long periods with the air conditioning switched off (risk of misting and reduction of the air quality in the cabin).
Press the "full fan" button to increase the air flow.
7 . A i r fl o w a d j u s t m e n t
The air flow symbol, the fan, fills progressively according to the value requested.
Press the "empty fan" button to decrease the air flow.

Press the air flow "empty fan"button 7 until the fan symbol disappears.
This action switches off all of the functions of the air conditioning system. Thermal comfor t is no longer controlled. A slight flow of air resulting from the movement of the vehicle, remains perceptible however. Pressing the air flow "full fan" button 7 or on "AUTO" reactivates the system with the values set before it was switched off.

Rear screen demist - defrost
The control button is located on the heating or air conditioning system control panel.

The rear screen demisting/defrosting can only operate when the engine is running. Press this button to demist /defrost the rear screen and (depending on version) the door mirrors. The indicator lamp associated with the button comes on.

The demisting/defrosting switches off automatically to prevent an excessive consumption of current. It is possible to stop the demisting/defrosting operation before it is switched off automatically by pressing the button again. The indicator lamp associated with the button switches off. Switch off the demisting/defrosting of the rear screen and door mirrors as soon as appropriate as lower current consumption results in reduced fuel consumption.
If the engine is switched off before the demisting/defrosting is switched off automatically, demisting/defrosting will resume next time the engine is switched on.

Scented air freshener
System permitting the diffusion of a fragrance in t he passenger compar tment in accordance with your requ irements, by means of the adjustment dial and the various fragrance car tridges available.
This dial is located on the dashboard. It allows you to adjust the intensity of diffusion of the fragrance. Turn the dial to the right to permit diffusion of the fragrance. Turn the dial to the left to stop diffusion of the fragrance.

This car tridge can be removed easily. The first time it is used, replace the plug with a real car tridge. You can change it at any time and store it in the sealed case which keeps it closed once it has been opened. You can obtain different fragrance car tridges from CITROËN dealers.
Leave the central vents open. The intensity of diffusion of the fragrance may depend on the ventilation or air conditioning settings.
Fragrance cartridge
Do not discard the original car tridge as this ser ves as a plug when no fragrance car tridge is in use. In order to preser ve the ser vice life of the car tridge, turn the dial fully to the left when you no longer wish to diffuse the fragrance in the passenger compar tment.
As a safety precaution, do not carry out any action on the car tridge while driving.
Do not dismantle the car tridges. Do not attempt to refill the fragrance diffuser or the car tridges.
Avoid all contact with the skin and eyes. Keep out of reach of children and animals.

Airbags
System designed to maximise the safety of the occupants (with the exception of the rear centre passenger) in the event of violent collisions. It supplements the action of the force-limiting
seat belts (with the exception of the rear centre passenger). If a collision occurs, the electronic detectors record and analyse the front and side impacts sustained in the impact detection zones: - in the case of a serious impact, the airbags are triggered instantly and protect the occupants of the vehicle (with the exception of the rear centre passenger); immediately after the impact, the airbags deflate rapidly so that they do not hinder visibility or the exit of the occupants, - in the case of a minor or rear impact or in cer tain roll-over conditions, the airbags will not be triggered; the seat belt alone is sufficient to provide optimum protection in these situations.
The airbags do not operate when the ignition is switched off. This equipment will only deploy once. If a second impact occurs (during the same or a subsequent accident), the airbag will not be triggered again.

Triggering of the airbag(s) is
accompanied by a slight emission of harmless smoke and a noise, due to the activation of the pyrotechnic
car tridge incorporated in the system. This smoke is not harmful, but sensitive individuals may experience slight irritation. The noise of the detonation may result in a slight loss of hearing for a short time.

Following prolonged operation of the vehicle at very low speed or at idle, you may, in exceptional circumstances,
notice the emission of water vapour at the exhaust on acceleration. This does not affect the behaviour of the vehicle or the environment.
Unless other wise indicated, check these components in accordance with the Maintenance and Warranty Guide and according to your engine. Other wise, have them checked by a CITROËN dealer.
The battery does not require any maintenance. However, check that the terminals are clean and correctly tightened, particularly in summer and winter. When carrying out work on the battery, refer to the "Practical information" section for details of the precautions to be taken before disconnecting the battery and following its reconnection.
Refer to the Maintenance and Warranty Guide for details of the replacement inter vals for these components. Depending on the environment (e.g. dusty atmosphere) and the use of the vehicle (e.g. city driving), replace them twice as often if necessar y (refer to the "Engines" section). A clogged passenger compar tment filter may have an adverse effect on the per formance of the air conditioning system and generate undesirable odours.
Replace the oil filter each time the engine oil is changed.
Refer to the Maintenance and Warranty Guide for details of the replacement inter val for this component.
The presence of this label, in par ticular with the Stop & Star t system, indicates the use of a specific 12 V lead-acid battery with special technology and specification, for which the involvement of a CITROËN dealer is required when replacing or disconnecting the battery. Failure to obser ve this recommendation may cause premature wear of the battery.
It is imperative that the maintenance of the par ticle emission filter is carried out by a CITROËN dealer.

Changing a fuse
Installing electrical accessories
Your vehicle’s electrical system is designed to operate with standard or optional equipment. Before installing other electrical equipment or accessories on your vehicle, contact a CITROËN dealer.
CITROËN will not accept responsibility for the cost incurred in repairing your vehicle or for rectifying malfunctions resulting from the installation of accessories not supplied and not recommended by CITROËN and not installed in accordance with its instructions, in par ticular when the combined consumption of all of the additional equipment connected exceeds 10 milliamperes.
The extraction pliers and the spare fuse storage locations are fitted to the back of the dashboard fuse box cover.
For access to them: open the glove box lid, unclip the fusebox cover by pulling on the
side, remove the cover completely, remove the pliers.
Access to the tools
Before changing a fuse, the cause of the failure must be identified and rectified. Identify the faulty fuse by checking the condition of its filament.

Always replace the faulty fuse with a fuse of the same rating. Check the correspondence between the number etched on the box, the rating etched on the fuse and the tables below.
