If the brightness sensor does not

l i g h t , a n a u d i b l e s i g n a l a n d a m e s s a g e
o n t h e d i s p l a y .

Do not cover the brightness
s e n s o r l o c a t e d i n t h e c e n t r e o f t h e
f a s c i a . I t i s u s e d f o r t h e a u t o m a t i c
s w i t c h i n g o n o f t h e l i g h t s a n d f o r t h e
automatic wipers.
Activation
Turn the ring to the AUTO position.
The activation of this function is
a c c o m p a n i e d b y a m e s s a g e o n t h e
d i s p l a y .
AUTOMATIC ADJUSTMENT OF
THE XENON HEADLAMPS

c o r r e c t s t h e h e i g h t o f t h e l i g h t b e a m ,
r e g a r d l e s s o f t h e l o a d i n t h e v e h i c l e .

l i g h t i n g w i t h o u t d a z z l i n g o t h e r r o a d
users.
Cancelling:
- " fl a s h " t h e h e a d l a m p s ,

This function is not compatible with the

Towing a trailer
On the contrary, use a high gear to
lower the engine speed and reduce
your speed.
In all cases, pay attention to the
coolant temperature.
Brakes: towing increases the braking
distance. Drive at a moderate speed,
change down early and brake
gradually.
Automatic adjustment
For vehicles with Xenon bulbs, and if
the change in load makes it necessary,
this system automatically corrects the
height of the beam after approximately
2 minutes. The driver is then assured
of having optimum lighting and not
causing a nuisance to other road
users.
In certain cases of particularly
arduous use (towing the
maximum load up a steep slope
in high temperatures), the engine
automatically limits its power. In this
case, cutting off the air conditioning
allows the engine power to be
recovered, and therefore the towing
s p e e d t o b e s i g n i fi c a n t l y i n c r e a s e d
(approximately 12 mph [20 km/h]
more). Sequential control of the
gearbox may also become unavailable. Lighting

When using a trailer connection,
you must add a fuse. Refer to
the "Changing a fuse" section of
chapter 7.
If the coolant temperature warning light
comes on, stop the vehicle and switch
off the engine as soon as possible.
Tyres: check the tyre pressures of
the towing vehicle and of the trailer,
observing the recommended pressure.
Side wind: sensitivity to side wind is
increased. Drive smoothly and at a
moderate speed.
Towbar
We recommend the use of original
CITROËN towbars, which have been
tested for endurance from the design
stage of your vehicle.
T o w i n g e q u i p m e n t m u s t b e fi t t e d i n
accordance with the manufacturer's
instructions, with particular attention to
the towing capacities of your vehicle,
the load towed, the nose weight and
t h e e l e c t r i c a l c o n n e c t i o n . A s t h i s fi t t i n g
should be carried out by a professional,
we recommend that you entrust the
fi t t i n g o f t h i s e q u i p m e n t t o a C I T R O Ë N
dealer.
In accordance with the general
instructions referred to above, we draw
your attention to the risk connected
w i t h fi t t i n g a t o w b a r o r o t h e r e l e c t r i c a l
accessory which is not recommended
by the CITROËN network. Fitting such
equipment could result in a failure
of your vehicle's electronic system.

dazzle other road users. Check the
electrical signalling of the trailer.
