MONITORING
Deactivation indicator lamps
I f o n e o f t h e f o l l o w i n g i n d i c a t o r l a m p s c o m e s o n , t h i s c o n fi r m s t h a t t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g s y s t e m h a s b e e n s w i t c h e d o f f
intentionally.
This is accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the multifunction screen.
Passenger's
airbag
system fi x e d . The control, located in the
glove box, is set to the
OFF
position.
The passenger's front
airbag is deactivated.
In this case you can install
a "rear facing" child seat. Set the control to the
ON position to activate the
p a s s e n g e r ' s f r o n t a i r b a g . I n t h i s c a s e , d o n o t fi t a
child seat in the rear-facing position.
The passenger's airbag system is put into
service automatically when the vehicle is started
( ON position).
ESP/ASR fi x e d . The button, located at
the bottom left of the
dashboard, is pressed. Its
indicator lamp is on.
The ESP/ASR is
deactivated.
ESP: electronic stability
programme.
ASR: anti-skid regulation. Press the button to activate the ESP/ASR. Its
indicator lamp switches off.
From approximately 30 mph (50 km/h), the
system is reactivated automatically.
The ESP/ASR system is activated automatically
when the vehicle is started.

MONITORING
The instrument panel remains lit with
only the vehicle speed and cruise
control or speed limiter information, if in
use.
If there is an alert or a change in a func-
tion or to a setting, the black panel mode
is interrupted.
Activation
With the lighting on, press the left
hand button of the instrument panel
several times to progressively re-
duce the dashboard lighting level.
Press the button again to reduce the
lighting to the minimum level and
switch off the interior mood lighting.
Press the button again to activate
the black panel.
Black panel
System allowing certain displays to be
switched off for night driving.
Activation
When the lighting is on:
press the button to change the
brightness of the instruments and
controls,
when the level of brightness required
is reached, release the button.
Deactivation
When the lighting is off, or in day mode
o n v e h i c l e s fi t t e d w i t h d a y t i m e r u n n i n g
lamps, pressing the button does not
have any effect.
Lighting rheostat
System for manual adjustment of the
brightness of the instruments and
controls in relation to the exterior bright-
ness.

VISIBILITY
INTERIOR MOOD LIGHTING
The dimmed passenger compartment
lighting improves visibility in the vehicle
when the light is poor.
Switching on
At night, the illumination of footwell and
the central dashboard stoarge compart-
ment comes on automatically when the
sidelamps are switched on. Switching off
The interior mood lighting switches off
automatically when the sidelamps are
switched off.
It can be switched off manually using
the instrument panel lighting rheostat
button.
With the lighting on, press several
times on the left hand button of the
instrument panel to progressively
reduce the dashboard lighting level.
Press again to reduce the lighting
level to the minimum and switch off
the interior mood lighting. This comes on automatically when the
boot is opened and switches off auto-
matically when the boot is closed.
BOOT LAMP
The lighting time varies according
to the circumstances:
- when the ignition is off, ap-
proximately ten minutes,
- in energy economy mode, ap- proximately thirty seconds,
- when the engine is running, no limit.
On certain versions, three lamps locat-
ed in the support between the roof and
the automatic day/night interior mirror
come on as well.

AIRBAGS
The airbags do not operate
when the ignition is switched
off.

ence slight irritation.

r e s u l t i n a s l i g h t l o s s o f h e a r i n g
f o r a s h o r t t i m e . Front airbags
S y s t e m w h i c h p r o t e c t s t h e d r i v e r a n d
front passenger in the event of a seri-
o u s f r o n t i m p a c t i n o r d e r t o l i m i t t h e r i s k
o f i n j u r y t o t h e h e a d a n d c h e s t .
T h e d r i v e r ' s a i r b a g i s i n c o r p o r a t e d i n
the centre of the steering wheel; the
f r o n t p a s s e n g e r ' s a i r b a g i s i n c o r p o r a t e d
in the dashboard above the glove box.
Activation

airbags are triggered instantly and
p r o t e c t t h e o c c u p a n t s o f t h e v e h i c l e

p a s s e n g e r ) ; i m m e d i a t e l y a f t e r t h e
i m p a c t , t h e a i r b a g s d e fl a t e r a p i d l y
so that they do not hinder visibility

- i n t h e c a s e o f a m i n o r o r r e a r i m p a c t o r i n c e r t a i n r o l l - o v e r c o n d i t i o n s , t h e
airbags will not be triggered; the

T h e i n fl a t i o n p r e s s u r e s m u s t b e
checked when the tyres are cold,
at least once a month. I f t h e i n fl a t i o n p r e s s u r e s a r e
too low, this increases fuel con-
sumption.
IDENTIFICATION MARKINGS
V a r i o u s v i s i b l e m a r k i n g s f o r t h e i d e n t i fi -
cation of your vehicle.
A . V e h i c l e i d e n t i fi c a t i o n n u m b e r ( V I N )
under the bonnet.
This number is engraved on the body-
work near the damper mounting.
B . V e h i c l e i d e n t i fi c a t i o n n u m b e r o n
the dashboard.
This number is indicated on a self-ad-
hesive label which is visible through the
windscreen.
C. Manufacturer's label.
The VIN is indicated on a self-destroy-
i n g l a b e l a f fi x e d t o t h e d r i v e r ' s c e n t r e
pillar.
D. Tyre/paint label.
T h i s l a b e l i s a f fi x e d t o t h e d r i v e r ' s c e n t r e
pillar.
It bears the following information:
- the tyre pressures, for unladen and laden conditions,
- the wheel rim and tyre sizes,
- the brands of tyre recommended by the manufacturer,
- t h e s p a r e t y r e i n fl a t i o n p r e s s u r e ,
- the paint colour code.
