SAFETY
TYRE UNDER-INFLATION DETECTION
System which automatically and contin-
uously checks the pressure of the tyres
while driving. All repairs and changing of tyres on
a w h e e l fi t t e d w i t h t h i s s y s t e m m u s t
be carried out by a PEUGEOT
dealer.
If, when changing a tyre, you in-
stall a wheel which is not detected
b y y o u r v e h i c l e ( e x a m p l e : fi t t i n g
of snow tyres), you must have the
system reinitialised by a PEUGEOT
dealer.
This system does not avoid the
need to have the tyre pressures
checked regularly (refer to the
" I d e n t i fi c a t i o n m a r k i n g s " s e c t i o n ) t o
ensure that the optimum dynamic
performance of the vehicle is main-
tained and prevent premature wear
of the tyres, particularly in arduous
driving conditions (heavy load, high
speed).
The tyre pressures must be
checked cold, at least once a
month. Remember to check the
pressure of the spare wheel.
T h e t y r e u n d e r - i n fl a t i o n d e t e c t i o n
system may experience temporary
interference due to electro-magnetic
emissions on a frequency close to
that used by the system.
S e n s o r s fi t t e d i n e a c h v a l v e t r i g g e r a
warning in the event of problem (speed
above 12 mph (20 km/h)).
This warning lamp is displayed on the
instrument panel and/or a message
appears on the multifunction screen,
accompanied by an audible signal,
to locate the wheel concerned.
Check the tyre pressures as soon
as possible.
This check must be carried out when
the tyres are cold.
U n d e r - i n fl a t e d t y r e
The
STOP warning lamp comes on
and/or this warning lamp is displayed
on the instrument panel, accompa-
nied by an audible signal and a mes-
sage on the multifunction screen
locating the wheel concerned.
Stop as soon as it is safe to do so,
avoiding any sudden movement of
the steering wheel and the brakes.
Repair or change the damaged
w h e e l ( p u n c t u r e d o r v e r y d e fl a t e d
tyre), and have the tyre pressure
checked as soon as possible.
Puncture
T h e t y r e u n d e r - i n fl a t i o n d e t e c t i o n
system is an aid to driving which does
not replace the need for the driver to
be vigilant or to drive responsibly. S e n s o r ( s ) n o t d e t e c t e d o r f a u l t y
This warning lamp is displayed
on the instrument panel and/
or a message appears on the
multifunction screen, accompa-
nied by an audible signal, to locate the
wheel or wheels which are not detected
or to indicate a fault in the system.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer to replace
the faulty sensor(s).
This message is also displayed
when one of the wheels is away
from the vehicle (being repaired) or
when one or more wheels without a
s e n s o r a r e fi t t e d .
If your vehicle is equipped with a
s p a r e w h e e l , t h i s i s n o t fi t t e d w i t h
a sensor.

SAFETY
The ESP/ASR systems offer ex-
ceptional safety in normal driving,
but this should not encourage the
driver to take extra risks or drive at
high speed.
The correct functioning of these
systems depends on observation
of the manufacturer's recommen-
dations regarding the wheels (tyres
and rims), the braking components,
the electronic components and the
repair and assembly procedures
used by PEUGEOT dealers.
After an impact, have these sys-
tems checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer.
Deactivation
In exceptional conditions (starting a ve-
hicle which is bogged down, stuck in
snow, on soft ground, ...), it may be ad-
visable to deactivate the ASR and ESP
systems, so that the wheels can move
freely and regain grip.
Press the "ESP OFF" button, located
on the dashboard.
If this warning lamp comes on in
the instrument panel and the indi-
cator lamp in the button come on,
this indicates that the ASR and
ESP systems are deactivated.

200 hp engine, this action also deactivates
emergency brake assistance and the auto-
matic operation of hazard warning lamps.
Reactivation
These systems are reactivated automat-
ically each time the ignition is switched
back on or from 30 mph (50 km/h) (ex-
cept in the case of the 1.6 litre THP
200 hp petrol engine).
Press the "ESP OFF" button again
to reactivate them manually.

engine, this action also reactivates emer-
gency brake assistance and the automatic
operation of hazard warning lamps. Operating fault
If this warning lamp comes on, ac-
companied by an audible signal
and a message in the multifunction
screen, this indicates a malfunction
of these systems.
Have the systems checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer.
TRAJECTORY CONTROL SYSTEMS
Activation
These systems are activated automati-
cally each time the vehicle is started.
Anti-skid regulation (ASR) and
e l e c t r o n i c s t a b i l i t y p r o g r a m m e
(ESP)
They come into operation in the event
of a grip or trajectory problem.
T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y fl a s h i n g o f
this warning lamp on the instru-
ment panel.
The anti-skid regulation (also known as
Traction Control) optimises traction to
prevent skidding of the wheels, by act-
ing on the brakes of the driving wheels
and on the engine.
The electronic stability programme acts
on the brake of one or more wheels and
on the engine to keep the vehicle on the
trajectory required by the driver, within
the limits of the laws of physics.

DRIVING
Moving off
Apply the parking brake.
Select position P or N .
Start the engine.
If this procedure is not followed, a loud
audible signal is heard, accompanied by
a message in the multifunction screen.
With the engine running, press the
brake pedal.
Release the parking brake.
Select position R , D or M ,
Gradually release the brake pedal.
The vehicle moves off immediately.
If position N is engaged inadver-
tently while driving, allow the en-
gine to return to idle then engage
position D to accelerate. T h e g e a r b o x t h e n o p e r a t e s i n a u t o -
adaptive mode, without any intervention
on the part of the driver. It continuously
selects the most suitable gear accord-
i n g t o t h e s t y l e o f d r i v i n g , t h e p r o fi l e o f
the road and the load in the vehicle.
F o r m a x i m u m a c c e l e r a t i o n w i t h o u t
touching the lever, press the accelera-
t o r p e d a l d o w n f u l l y ( k i c k d o w n ) . T h e
g e a r b o x c h a n g e s d o w n a u t o m a t i c a l l y
or maintains the gear selected until the
m a x i m u m e n g i n e s p e e d i s r e a c h e d .
O n b r a k i n g , t h e g e a r b o x c h a n g e s d o w n
a u t o m a t i c a l l y t o p r o v i d e e f fi c i e n t e n g i n e
braking.
If you release the accelerator sharply,
t h e g e a r b o x w i l l n o t c h a n g e t o a h i g h e r
gear for safety reasons.

celerator being pressed.
When the engine is running, never
leave children in the vehicle with-
out supervision.
When carrying out maintenance with
the engine running, apply the park-
ing brake and select position P . Sport and snow programmes
These two special programmes supple-
ment the automatic operation in very
s p e c i fi c c o n d i t i o n s o f u s e .
Return to automatic operation
At any time, press the button se-
lected again to quit the programme
engaged and return to auto-adaptive
mode.

CHECKS
Only use products recommended

In order to optimise the operation
of units as important as the brak-
ing system, PEUGEOT selects and
o f f e r s v e r y s p e c i fi c p r o d u c t s .
To avoid damaging the electrical
units, the use of a high pressure
washer in the engine compartment
is strictly prohibited .
Brake disc wear

Brake wear depends on the
style of driving, particularly in
the case of vehicles used in
town, over short distances. It
may be necessary to have the
condition of the brakes checked, even
between vehicle services.
Unless there is a leak in the circuit, a

that the brake pads are worn. For information relating to
checking the brake disc wear,
contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
If a loss of effectiveness of this
system is noticed, the parking
brake must be checked, even
between two services.
