Warning lamp is on Cause Action/Observations
Battery
charge fi x e d . The battery charging circuit has
a fault (dirty or loose terminals,
slack or cut alternator belt, ...). The warning lamp should go off when the
engine is started.
If it does not switch off, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.
Seat belt not
fastened/
unfastened fi x e d .
The driver has not fastened or
has unfastened their seat belt. Pull the strap then insert the tongue in the
buckle.
Airbags temporarily.
This lamp comes on for a few
seconds when you turn on the
ignition, then switches off.
This lamp should switch off when the engine is
started.
If it does not switch off, contact a PEUGEOT deale
r.
fi x e d . One of the airbag or seat belt
pretensioner systems has a
fault. Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.

For the airbags to be fully
effective, observe the following
safety rules:
Sit in a normal upright position.
Wear a correctly adjusted seat belt.
Do not place anything between the
occupants and the airbags (a child,
pet, object...). This could hamper the
operation of the airbags or injure the
occupants.
After an accident or if the vehicle has
been stolen or broken into, have the
airbag system checked.
All work on the airbag system is strict-
ly forbidden unless it is carried out by
q u a l i fi e d p e r s o n n e l o f t h e P E U G E O T
network.
Even if all of the precautions men-
tioned are observed, a risk of injury
or of minor burns to the head, chest
or arms when an air bag is triggered
cannot be ruled out. In fact, the bag
i n fl a t e s a l m o s t i n s t a n t l y ( w i t h i n a f e w
m i l l i s e c o n d s ) t h e n d e fl a t e s w i t h i n t h e
same time discharging the hot gas via
openings provided for this purpose. Front airbags
Do not drive holding the steering wheel by its spokes or resti
ng your hands on
the centre part of the wheel.
Passengers must not place their feet on the dashboard.
Smoke as little as possible as deployment of the airbags can cau se burns or the
risk of injury from a cigarette or pipe.
Never remove or pierce the steering wheel or hit it violently.
Lateral airbags
Only put approved covers on the seats. These will not hinder the deployment of
the lateral airbags. Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

The electrical circuit of your ve-
hicle is designed to operate with
standard or optional equipment.
Before installing other electri-
cal equipment or accessories in
your vehicle, consult a PEUGEOT
dealer.
Some electrical accessories or the
w a y i n w h i c h t h e y a r e fi t t e d m a y
have an adverse effect on the op-
eration of your vehicle (its elec-
tronic control circuits, the audio
circuit and the electrical charging
circuit).
PEUGEOT declines any respon-
sibility for expenses incurred
through the repair of your vehicle
or for any malfunctions resulting
from the installation of auxiliary
accessories, not supplied and not
recommended by PEUGEOT and
not installed in accordance with
PEUGEOT's instructions, in par-
ticular when the combined con-
sumption of all of the additional
equipment connected exceeds
10 milliamps.
The maxi fuses present provide
additional protection for the elec-
trical systems. Any work on these
fuses must be carried out by a
PEUGEOT dealer.

BATTERY
Operating procedure for recharging
y o u r fl a t b a t t e r y o r f o r s t a r t i n g t h e e n g i n e
from another battery.
To start the vehicle from another
battery:
- Connect the red cable to the positive (+) terminals of the two batteries,
- Connect one end of the green or black cable to the negative (-) termi-
nal of the slave battery,
- Connect the other end of the green or black cable to an earth point on
the broken down vehicle, as far as
possible from the battery (for exam-
ple, right-hand engine mounting),
- Operate the starter, let the engine run,
- Wait for the engine to return to idle, then disconnect the cables.
To charge the battery using a battery
charger:
- Disconnect the battery,
- Follow the instructions for use given by the battery charger manufacturer,
- Reconnect starting with the nega- tive (-) terminal,
- Check that the terminals and connec- tors are clean. If they are covered with
sulphate (white or greenish deposit),
disconnect them and clean them.
It is advisable to disconnect the bat-
tery if the vehicle is not to be used for
a period of more than one month.
- Wait for 2 minutes after switch-
ing off the ignition before dis-
connecting the battery.
- Never disconnect a terminal when the engine is running.
- Never charge a battery without fi r s t d i s c o n n e c t i n g t h e t e r m i n a l s .
- Close the windows before dis- connecting the battery.
- After every reconnection of the battery, switch on the ignition
and wait 1 minute before start-
ing to allow the electronic sys-
tems to be initialised. If slight
d i f fi c u l t i e s a r e e x p e r i e n c e d
after this, please consult a
PEUGEOT dealer.

ECONOMY MODE FUNCTION
After the engine has stopped, with the
key in the accessories position, certain
functions (windscreen wiper, courtesy
lamps, audio equipment, dipped beam
headlamps, etc.) can only be used for
a maximum cumulative duration of ap-
p r o x i m a t e l y fi f t e e n m i n u t e s , t o p r e v e n t
discharging of the battery.
O n c e t h e fi f t e e n m i n u t e s a r e o v e r , t h e
message "Economy mode active" ap-
pears on the multifunction screen and
the active functions are put on standby.
These functions will be reactivated au-
tomatically the next time the vehicle is
used.
To resume the use of these functions
immediately, start the engine and let it
run for a few minutes.
The time available will then be double
the time for which the engine is left run-
ning. However, this time will always be
b e t w e e n fi v e a n d fi f t e e n m i n u t e s .
A fl a t b a t t e r y w i l l p r e v e n t t h e
engine from starting.
TOWING THE VEHICLE
Procedure for having your vehicle
towed.
Towing your vehicle
On the front bumper, unclip the cover
to gain access to the towing eye.
Switch on the hazard warning lamps
on the towed vehicle.
Place the gear lever in neutral. Towing another vehicle

- two 8-way connectors.
