Emergency release In the event of a malfunction of the
electric parking brake or the battery
r u n n i n g fl a t , a n e m e r g e n c y m e c h a -
nism can release the parking brake.
Immobilise the vehicle, with the
e n g i n e r u n n i n g , b y e n g a g i n g fi r s t
g e a r ( m a n u a l g e a r b o x ) , p o s i -
tion P ( a u t o m a t i c g e a r b o x ) o r M
or R (6-speed electronic gearbox
s y s t e m ) .
Switch off the engine, but leave
the ignition on.
If the vehicle cannot be immo- bilised, do not do anything and
contact a CITROËN dealer with-
out delay.
Fetch the vehicle blocks E and
the release tool F ( h a n d l e ) f r o m
the toolbox.
If on a gradient: chock the vehi-
cle by placing the blocks in front
of or behind the front wheels, on
the falling side of the gradient.
If on level ground: chock the vehicle by placing the blocks in
front of and behind one of the
front wheels.
Slide the front left-hand seat
back as far as possible.

carpet in front of the seat.
Pierce the tab C on the tube D
with the release tool F .
Place the end of the handle F in
the tube D .
Turn the release tool F clock-
wise.
For safety reasons , it is
essential to continue turning the
device as far as it will go. The
parking brake is released.
Remove the release tool F and
store it with the blocks E in the
toolbox.
- The operation of the parking brake reinitialises itself when the
ignition is switched off then on
again. If the reinitialisation of the
parking brake proves impossible,
contact a CITROËN dealer.
- The subsequent time required for application may be longer
than during normal operation.
When the release tool F is engaged, do not operate the control lever or the igni tion switch.
Immobilisation of the vehicle is no longer assured once the ma nual emergency release has been used.
The emergency release system cannot be used to apply the parking brake mechanically.
Take care not to allow moisture or dust in the proximity of th e plug.
For safety reasons, contact a CITROËN dealer as soon as possible to have the plug replaced.

- Hill start assist is not available.
To apply the electric parking brake:
Immobilise the vehicle and switch off the ignition
Pull the control lever for at least 5 seconds or until maximum
application.
Switch on the ignition and check that the electric parking brake
warning lamps are on.
- Application may take longer than in normal operation.
- If warning lamp P fl a s h e s o r i f t h e w a r n i n g l a m p s d o n o t c o m e
on when the ignition is switched on, this method does not work.
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer.
To release the electric parking brake:
Switch on the ignition.
Pull the control lever and hold it for approximately 3 second s.

Displays on the instrument panel
- The selector lever position is dis-played in the instrument panel,
on the left on the A and C multi-
function screens and on the right
on NaviDrive and MyWay multi-
function screens.
- A back-lit position grille associated with the selector lever shows the
position selected.
When the ignition is on,
lighting of the service
warning lamp, accompa-
nied by an audible signal and
the message "Gearbox faulty"
indicates a malfunction.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
For safety:
Position N can only be disen-
gaged if you are pressing the
brake pedal.
If the gearbox is in position N
but the selector lever position is
different, reposition the selector
lever on N in order to be able to
start. Moving off
To start the engine, the selector
lever must be in position N .

Operate the starter.
When the engine is running,
place the selector lever on R , A
or M as desired.
In the instrument panel, check
the position engaged.
Release the brake pedal and ac-
celerate.
If the selector lever is not in posi-
tion N , and/or if the brake pedal is not
pressed, the corresponding warning
l a m p ( s ) a r e d i s p l a y e d a n d a m e s -
sage informs you that at least one of
these two conditions is not met.
In this case, the engine will not start,
recommence the above procedure.
6-SPEED ELECTRONIC GEARBOX SYSTEM
The 6-speed electronic gearbox of-
fers a choice between the comfort of
fully automatic operation or the driving
pleasure of manual gear changing.
You have a choice of two driving
modes:
-
automatic mode for automatic con-
trol of the gears by the gearbox,
- sequential mode for manual
changing of the gears by the
driver.
automatic mode: selector lever 2
in position A .
manual mode: selector lever 2 in
position M .
In automatic mode, instant manual
operation is possible any time you
operate one of the paddles 1 .

STOP & START
The Stop & Start system puts the en-
gine temporarily on standby - STOP
m o d e - d u r i n g s t o p s i n t h e t r a f fi c
( r e d l i g h t s , t r a f fi c j a m s , o r o t h e r . . . ) .
The engine restarts automatically -
START mode - as soon as you want
to move off. The restart takes place
instantly, quickly and silently.
Perfect for urban use, the Stop &
Start system reduces fuel consump-
tion and exhaust emissions as well
as the noise level when stationary.
Operation
Going into engine STOP mode The "ECO" warning lamp
comes on in the instrument
panel and the engine goes
into standby:
- with the 6-speed electronic
gearbox system , at speeds be-
l o w 4 m p h ( 6 k m / h ) , p r e s s t h e
brake pedal or put the selector
lever in position N . I f y o u r v e h i c l e i s fi t t e d w i t h t h e s y s -
tem, a time counter calculates the
sum of the periods in STOP mode
d u r i n g a j o u r n e y . I t r e s t s i t s e l f t o z e r o
every time the ignition is switched on
with the key.
Special cases: STOP mode
unavailable
Never refuel with the en-
gine in STOP mode; you
must switch off the ignition
with the key.
For your comfort, during parking
maoeuvres, STOP mode is not avail-
able for a few seconds after coming
out of reverse gear.
STOP mode does not affect the func-
tionality of the vehicle, such as for
example, braking, power steering...
STOP mode is not invoked
when:
- the driver's door is open,
- the driver's seat belt is not fas- tened,
- the vehicle has not exceeded 6 m p h ( 1 0 k m / h ) s i n c e t h e l a s t
engine start using the key,
- the electric parking brake is ap- plied or being applied,
- the engine is needed to maintain a comfortable temperature in the
passenger compartment,
- demisting is active,
- some special conditions (battery charge, engine temperature,
braking assistance, ambient
t e m p e r a t u r e . . . ) w h e r e t h e e n g i n e
is needed to assure control of a
system.
In this case, the "ECO" warning
l a m p fl a s h e s f o r a f e w s e c o n d s t h e n
goes off.
This operation is perfectly normal.

In the event of a malfunction with
the system, the "ECO OFF" switch
w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s t h e n c o m e s
on continuously.
Have it checked by a CITROËN
dealer.
In the event of a fault in STOP mode,
the vehicle may stall. It is then nec-
essary to switch off the ignition and
start the engine again using the key. Maintenance
Operating fault
Before working under the
bonnet, deactivate the Stop
& Start system to avoid any
r i s k o f i n j u r y r e s u l t i n g f r o m a u t o -
matic operation of START mode.
This system requires a battery with
a s p e c i a l s p e c i fi c a t i o n a n d t e c h n o l o g y
(reference numbers available from
C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r s ) .
Fitting a battery not listed by
CITROËN introduces the risk of
malfunction of the system.
The Stop & Start system makes use of advanced technology.
Specialist knowledge is needed
for any work on the system, which can
only be assured by CITROËN dealers.

Press button A to activate the

Activate the direction indicator
on the side where the space is to
be measured.
During the measuring, go for-
ward the length of the space, at
a speed less than 12 mph (ap-
p r o x i m a t e l y 2 0 k m / h ) , t o p r e p a r e
for your manoeuvre.
The system then measures the s i z e o f t h e s p a c e .
The system informs you of the
l e v e l o f d i f fi c u l t y o f t h e m a n o e u -
vre via a message on the multi-
function screen accompanied by
an audible signal.

The function displays the following
types of message: The function deactivates itself auto-
matically:
- when you engage reverse gear,
- when you switch off the ignition,
- fi v e m i n u t e s a f t e r a c t i v a t i o n o f
the function or after the last mea-
surement operation,
- if the vehicle speed exceeds the threshold of 45 mph (approxi-
m a t e l y 7 0 k m / h ) f o r o n e m i n u t e .
If there is a malfunction,
have the system checked
by a CITROËN dealer.
If the lateral distance between your
vehicle and the parking space is too
great, the system may not operate.
- The function remains available
after each measurement and so
can measure a number of places
successively.
- In bad weather or in winter, en- sure that the sensors are not cov-
ered by dirt, or by ice or snow.
- The parking space sensor func- tion deactivates the front parking
sensors during the space mea-
suring phase when you are in
forward gear.

LANE DEPARTURE WARNING SYSTEM
System which detects the involun-
t a r y c r o s s i n g o f l o n g i t u d i n a l t r a f fi c
lane markings on the ground (solid
o r b r o k e n l i n e ) .
S e n s o r s , fi t t e d b e l o w t h e f r o n t b u m -
per, trigger a warning if the vehicle
drifts over a lane marking (speed
h i g h e r t h a n 5 0 m p h ( 8 0 k m / h ) ) .
This system is particularly useful on
motorways and main roads. Activation
Press button A , the indicator
lamp comes on.
Deactivation
Press button A again, the indica-
tor lamp switches off.
The status of the system remains
in the memory when the ignition is
switched off.
Detection
You are warned by the vibration of
the driver's seat cushion:
- on the right-hand side, if the marking on the ground has been
crossed on the right,
- on the left-hand side, if the mark- ing on the ground has been
crossed on the left.
No warning is transmitted while the
direction indicator is active and for
approximately 20 seconds after the
direction indicator is switched off.
A warning may be transmitted if a
d i r e c t i o n m a r k i n g ( e . g . a r r o w ) o r
n o n - s t a n d a r d m a r k i n g ( e . g . g r a f fi t i )
is crossed. Operating fault
In the event of a malfunction, the
service warning lamp comes on,
accompanied by an audible signal
and a message on the multifunction
screen.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
The lane departure warning sys-
tem cannot, in any circumstances,
replace the need for vigilance and
responsibility on the part of the
driver. The detection may be impeded:
- if the sensors are dirty (mud,
s n o w . . . ) ,
- if the markings on the ground are worn,
- if there is little contrast between the markings on the ground and
the road surface.

Coolant level
Changing the coolant
The coolant does not have to be
changed.
F l u i d s p e c i fi c a t i o n
The coolant must conform to the
manufacturer's recommendations.
The reading will only be
correct if the vehicle is on
level ground and the engine
has been off for more than
1 5 m i n u t e s .
The check is carried out either when
the ignition is switched on using the
oil level indicator on the instrument
panel, or using the dipstick. T h e b r a k e fl u i d l e v e l s h o u l d
be close to the "MAX" mark.
If it is not, check the brake
pad wear.
The coolant level should be
close to the "MAX" mark but
should never exceed it.
When the engine is warm,
the temperature of the coolant is
regulated by the fan. This can oper-
ate with the ignition off.
O n v e h i c l e s w h i c h a r e fi t t e d w i t h
a p a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n fi l t e r , t h e f a n
may operate after the vehicle has
b e e n s w i t c h e d o f f , e v e n i f t h e e n -
gine is cold.
In addition, as the cooling system is
pressurised, wait at least one hour
after switching off the engine before
carrying out any work.
To avoid any risk of scalding, un-
screw the cap by two turns to al-
low the pressure to drop. When the
pressure has dropped, remove the
cap and top up the level.
In order to maintain the re-
liability of the engine and
emission control system,
the use of additives in the engine
oil is prohibited. When working under the
bonnet, take care, as cer-
tain areas of the engine
may be extremely hot (risk
of burns).
Power steering fluid level T h e p o w e r s t e e r i n g fl u i d
level should be close to the
"MAX" mark. Unscrew the
cap, with the engine cold, to
check the level.
