Compass Variance
The mirror is set to zone eight. Adjust the compass to
compensate for compass variance if you live outside
zone eight. Under certain circumstances, such as during
a long distance cross-country trip, it is necessary to
adjust for compass variance. If not adjusted to account
for compass variance, your compass could give false
readings.
To adjust for compass variance:
1. Find your current location and variance zone
number on the following zone map.
2. Press and hold
Ountil the zone number displays.
The number shown is the current zone number.
3. Scroll through the zone numbers that appear in
the window on the mirror by pressing the
Obutton.
Once you nd your zone number, release the button.
After about four seconds, the mirror returns to the
compass display, and the new zone number is set.
If CAL appears in the compass window, the compass
may need calibration. See “Compass Calibration”
listed previously.

Outside Power Mirrors
The outside power mirror
control is located on the
driver’s door.
1. Turn the knob toward the mirror you desire to adjust.
2. Move the control in the direction you want the
mirror to go.
3. Adjust the mirror in all four directions to see the
side of your vehicle and the area behind your
vehicle.
4. After adjusting each mirror, turn the control to the
center position so the mirror cannot be moved.
If you reach the mirror’s end of the travel position in any
direction, the mirror enters a ratcheting mode. This action
is harmless. It is a warning that the mirror can go no
further. To stop this action, back the mirror up by moving
the control in the opposite direction.Manually fold the mirrors inward to prevent damage
when going through an automatic car wash. To fold, push
the mirror toward the vehicle. Push the mirror outward,
to return to its original position.
Outside Convex Mirror
{CAUTION:
A convex mirror can make things (like other
vehicles) look farther away than they really are.
If you cut too sharply into the right lane, you could
hit a vehicle on the right. Check the inside mirror or
glance over your shoulder before changing lanes.
The passenger side mirror is convex shaped. A convex
mirror’s surface is curved so more can be seen from
the driver seat.
Outside Heated Mirrors
For vehicles with heated mirrors:
<(Rear Defogger):Press to heat the mirrors.
See “Rear Window Defogger” underDual Automatic
Climate Control System on page 3-19.
