REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
aLock the airbag computer using the Diagnostic tool
(see Fault finding - Replacement of compo-
nents)(MR 413, 88C, Airbags and seat belt preten-
sioners).
aDisconnect the battery (see ) (MR 411, 80A, Bat-
tery).
aUnclip the upper storage compartment (1) on the
driver's side using the (Car. 1363).
aRemove:
-the passenger's front airbag (see Passenger's
frontal airbag: Removal - Refitting) (MR 411,
88C, Airbags and pretensioners),
-the instrument panel (see Instrument panel: Re-
moval - Refitting) (MR 411, 83A, Instrument pan-
el).aUnclip the "trim - air vent" assembly (2) .
aDisconnect the hazard warning lights switch connec-
tor.
aUnclip:
-the fuse access flap (3) ,
-the dashboard lower trim. Special tooling required
Car. 1363Set of tr im removal levers.

aDisconnect the connectors from the lower trim on
the dashboard (4) .
aRemove:
-the steering wheel lower cover bolt,
-the steering wheel lower cover (5) .II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
aDisconnect the connector (6) from the blower unit
control unit on the left-hand side.
aRemove:
-the blower unit control unit bolts (7) ,
-the blower unit control unit.

aConnect the blower unit control unit connector.
II - FINAL OPERATION.
aRefit:
-the steering wheel lower cover,
-the steering wheel lower cover bolt.
aConnect the connectors to the lower trim on the
dashboard.
aClip on:
-the dashboard lower trim,
-the fuse access flap.
aConnect the hazard warning lights switch connector.
aClip on the "trim - air vent" assembly.
aRefit:
-the instrument panel (see Instrument panel: Re-
moval - Refitting) (MR 411, 83A, Instrument pan-
el),
-the passenger's front airbag (see Passenger's
frontal airbag: Removal - Refitting) (MR 411,
88C, Airbags and pretensioners).
aClip on the upper storage compartment on the driv-
er’s side.
aConnect the battery (see ) (MR 411, 80A, Battery).
aUnlock the airbag computer using the Diagnostic
tool (see Fault finding - Replacement of compo-
nents)(MR 413, 88C, Airbags and seat belt preten-

aDisconnect the connector from the control panel (3) .
aUnclip the recirculation control cable (4) .
aRemove the control panel ball joint (5) .
aUnclip the air mixing control cable (6) .
aPress on the tab (7) .
aRemove the control panel ball joint.
aUnclip the air distribution control cable (8) .
aPress on the tab.
aRemove the control panel ball joint (9) .
aDisconnect the connectors from the control panel.aUnclip the control panel (10) .
aRemove the control panel from the dashboard from
above.
REFITTING

aFit the control panel onto the dashboard from above.

aRemove the centre console (see Centre console:

ment).
aRemove the radio (see Radio: Removal - Refitting)
(MR 411, 86A, Radio).
aUnclip the glovebox.
aRemove the dashboard lower trim (see Centre front
panel: Removal - Refitting) (MR 412, 57A, Interior
equipment).
aUnclip:
-the fuse access flap (1) ,-the dashboard lower trim.
aDisconnect the connectors from the lower trim on
the dashboard (2) .
aRemove:
-the steering wheel lower cover bolts (3) ,
-the steering wheel lower cover.
aRemove:
-the bolts (4) from the strut,
-the strut. Tightening torquesm
strut bolts21 Nm

aDisconnect the connector (5) from the mixer motor.
aRemove:
-the bolts (6) from the air mixing motor,
-the air mixing motor.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
aRefit:
-the air mixing motor,
-the air mixing motor bolts.
aConnect the air mixing motor connector.
II - FINAL OPERATION.
aRefit:
-the strut,
-the strut bolt.
aTorque tighten the strut bolts (21 Nm).aRefit:
-the steering wheel lower cover,
-the steering wheel lower cover bolt.
aConnect the connectors to the lower trim on the
dashboard.
aClip on:
-the dashboard lower trim,
-the fuse access flap.
aRefit the dashboard lower trim (see Centre front
panel: Removal - Refitting) (MR 412, 57A, Interior
equipment).
aClip the glovebox in position.
aRefit the radio (see Radio: Removal - Refitting)
(MR 411, 86A, Radio).
aRefit the centre console (see Centre console: Re-
moval - Refitting) (MR 412, 57A, Interior equip-
ment).
aCheck that the air mixing function is operating cor-
rectly.

Note:
When refitting the mixer motor, make sure that
the drive system notches are correctly posi-
tioned.

ment).
aRemove the tweeter speakers (see Tweeter: Re-

aRemove the glovebox.
II - REMOVAL OPERATION FOR PART

aDisconnect the connector (2) from the mixer motor.
aRemove the air mixing motor bolts (3) .
aMove the air mixing motor aside. RADIO NO. 01 or RADIO NO. 03

aUnclip the rod (4) from the air mixing motor by tilting
the motor downwards.
aRemove the air mixing motor.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART

aClip the rod onto the air mixing motor.
aFit the air mixing motor.
aRefit:
-the air mixing motor,
-the air mixing motor bolts.
aConnect the air mixing motor connector.
II - FINAL OPERATION.
aRefit the glovebox.aRefit the radio (see Radio: Removal - Refitting)
(MR 411, 86A, Radio).
aRefit the tweeter speakers (see Tweeter: Removal
- Refitting) (MR 411, 86A, Radio).
aRefit:
-the centre front panel (see Centre front panel: Re-

ment).

aConnect the connectors to the lower trim on the
dashboard.
