(ABS - EBFD)
T h e A B S a n d E B F D ( e l e c t r o n i c b r a k e
force distribution) systems improve the
stability and manoeuvrability of your
vehicle on braking, in particular on
poor or slippery surfaces.
The ABS prevents locking of the
wheels, the EBFD provides control of
the braking pressure wheel by wheel. If this warning light comes on,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on
the display, it indicates a
malfunction of the ABS which
could result in a loss of control of the
vehicle on braking.
If this warning light comes
on, together with the brake
and STOP warning lights,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the
display, it indicates a malfunction of
the electronic brake force distribution
which could result in a loss of control of
the vehicle on braking.
EMERGENCY BRAKING
ASSISTANCE SYSTEM (EBA)
In an emergency, this system enables
the optimum braking pressure to be
reached more quickly, press the pedal
fi r m l y w i t h o u t r e l e a s i n g i t .
It is triggered by the speed at which the
brake pedal is activated.
This alters the resistance of the brake
pedal under your foot.
To prolong the operation of the
e m e r g e n c y b r a k i n g a s s i s t a n c e s y s t e m :
keep your foot on the brake pedal.
Good practice
The anti-lock braking system comes
into operation automatically when
there is a risk of wheel lock. It does not
reduce the braking distance.
O n v e r y s l i p p e r y s u r f a c e s ( i c e , o i l ,
etc...) the ABS may increase the
braking distance. When braking in
an emergency, do not hesitate to
p r e s s t h e b r a k e p e d a l fi r m l y , w i t h o u t
releasing the pressure, even on a
slippery surface, you will then be able
to continue to manoeuvre the vehicle
to avoid an obstacle.
Normal operation of the ABS may be
felt by slight vibration of the brake
pedal.
W h e n c h a n g i n g w h e e l s ( t y r e s
and rims), ensure that these are
recommended by PEUGEOT.
Stop immediately.
In both cases, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.

Seat belts
Recommendations for children:
- use a suitable child seat if the passenger is less than 12 years old
o r s h o r t e r t h a n o n e m e t r e fi f t y ,
- never allow a child to travel on your lap, even with the seat belt
fastened.
For further information regarding
child seats, refer to the "Children
on board" section of chapter 4.
Clean the seat belt straps with
soapy water or a textile cleaning
product, sold by PEUGEOT
dealers.
In accordance with current safety
regulations, your PEUGEOT dealer
guarantees all work or any checks,
from testing to maintenance, on your
seat belt equipment.
Have the seat belts checked regularly
( e v e n a f t e r a m i n o r i m p a c t ) b y a
P E U G E O T d e a l e r : t h e y m u s t n o t s h o w
any signs of wear, cutting or fraying
and they must not be transformed or
m o d i fi e d .
The force limiter reduces the pressure
of the seat belt against the body of the
occupants.
The pretensioning seat belts are active
when the ignition is switched on.
T h e i n e r t i a r e e l s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a d e v i c e
which automatically locks the strap in
the event of a collision or emergency
braking or if the vehicle rolls over.
You can unfasten the seat belt by
pressing the red button on the buckle.
Guide the seat belt after unfastening.
The air bag warning light comes on
if the pretensioners are triggered.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
In order to be effective, a seat belt
m u s t :
- restrain one person only,
- must not be twisted, check by
pulling in front of you with an even
movement,
- be tightened as close to the body as possible.
The upper part of the seat belt should
be positioned in the hollow of the
shoulder.
The lap part should be placed as low
as possible on the pelvis.
Do not invert the seat belt buckles as
t h e y w i l l n o t f u l fi l t h e i r r o l e c o m p l e t e l y .
I f t h e s e a t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a r m r e s t s , t h e
lap part of the seat belt should always
pass under the armrest.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
c o r r e c t l y b y p u l l i n g t h e s t r a p fi r m l y . Front seat belts

Rear seat belts

ADVICE ON CHILD SEATS
The incorrect installation of a child seat
in a vehicle compromises the child's
protection in the event of an accident.
Remember to fasten the seat belts or
the child seat harnesses keeping the
slack in relation to the child's body
to a minimum , even for short
journeys.
For optimum installation of the "forward
facing" child seat, ensure that the back
of the child seat is in contact with the
back of the vehicle's seat and that the
head restraint does not cause any
discomfort.
If the head restraint has to be removed,
ensure that it is stored or attached
securely to prevent it from being
thrown around the vehicle in the event
of sharp braking.
Children under the age of 10 must not
travel in the "forward facing" position
on the front passenger seat, unless
the rear seats are already occupied by
other children, cannot be used or are
absent.
Disarm the passenger air bag when a
"rear facing" child seat is installed on
the front seat.
Otherwise, the child would risk being
seriously injured or killed if the air bag
w e r e t o i n fl a t e .
A s a s a f e t y p r e c a u t i o n , d o n o t l e a v e :
- one or more children alone and
unsupervised in a vehicle,
- a child or an animal in a vehicle which is exposed to the sun, with
the windows closed,
- the keys within reach of children inside the vehicle. Installing a booster seat

Your vehicle has been approved in
accordance with the new ISOFIX
regulation.
The mountings comprise three rings for
e a c h s e a t : - two front rings
A and B , located
between the vehicle seat back and
cushion, - a rear ring
C , located on the back
of the vehicle's seat back, for
securing the upper strap referred to
as the TOP TETHER.
This ISOFIX mounting system
guarantees you fast, reliable and safe
fi t t i n g o f t h e c h i l d s e a t i n y o u r v e h i c l e
on the side seats.
T h e I S O F I X c h i l d s e a t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h
two locks which are secured easily on
the two front rings.
Some also have an upper strap which
is attached to the rear ring C .
To attach this strap, raise the
vehicle seat's head restraint then
pass the hook between its rods.

tighten the upper strap.

anticlockwise.
Halogen bulbs must be changed
w i t h t h e h e a d l a m p o f f . W a i t a f e w
minutes (risk of serious burns).
Do not touch the bulb directly with your
fi n g e r s , u s e l i n t - f r e e c l o t h s .
It is normal for condensation to form
i n s i d e t h e h e a d l a m p s . R e g u l a r u s e o f
the vehicle eliminates this misting. T h e b u l b s m u s t b e c h a n g e d w i t h
the ignition off or with the battery
d i s c o n n e c t e d . W a i t a p p r o x i m a t e l y
3 minutes after changing the bulb
before reconnecting the battery.

- Release the retaining tab.
- Change the bulb taking care t o a l i g n t h e m e t a l p a r t w i t h t h e
grooves on the light.

- E n s u r e t h a t t h e c o v e r i s r e fi t t e d c o r r e c t l y o v e r i t s e n t i r e p e r i p h e r y

REAR LIGHTS

- R e m o v e t h e t w o fi x i n g b o l t s u s i n g the screwdriver stored in the tool kit
under the right-hand seat.
- P u l l t h e l i g h t u n i t f r o m t h e o u t s i d e .
- Holding the light, disconnect the electrical connector.
W h e n r e fi t t i n g , t a k e c a r e t o
r e p o s i t i o n t h e t a b s a n d t h e s u p p l y
w i r e c o r r e c t l y t o a v o i d t r a p p i n g t h e
wire.
After changing the rear direction
indicator bulb, the reinitialisation time is
m o r e t h a n a p p r o x i m a t e l y 2 m i n u t e s .
- M o v e a s i d e t h e 4 t a b s t h e n e x t r a c t
the bulb holder.
- Remove the faulty bulb by p r e s s i n g i t l i g h t l y w h i l e t u r n i n g i t
anticlockwise.
