COMFORT
If after an extended stop in sunshine,
the interior temperature is very high,
fi r s t v e n t i l a t e t h e p a s s e n g e r c o m -
partment for a few moments.
P u t t h e a i r fl o w c o n t r o l a t a s e t t i n g
high enough to quickly change the
air in the passenger compartment.
The air conditioning system does not
contain chlorine and does not present
any danger to the ozone layer.
In order for these systems to be fully effective, follow the o peration and main-
tenance guidelines below:
To obtain an even air distribution, take care not to obst ruct the exterior air
intake grilles located at the base of the windscreen, the n ozzles, the vents
and the air outlets, as well as the air extractor located in the boot.
Do not cover the sunshine sensor, located on the dashboard ; this is used
for regulation of the air conditioning system.
Operate the air conditioning system for at least 5 to 10 mi nutes, once or
twice a month to keep it in perfect working order.
E n s u r e t h a t t h e p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t fi l t e r i s i n g o o d c o n d i t i o n a n d
h a v e t h e fi l t e r e l e m e n t s r e p l a c e d r e g u l a r l y ( r e f e r t o t h e " C h e c k s " s e c t i o n ) .
W e r e c o m m e n d t h e u s e o f a c o m b i n e d p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t fi l t e r .
T h a n k s t o i t s s p e c i a l a c t i v e a d d i t i v e , i t c o n t r i b u t e s t o t h e p u r i fi c a t i o n o f
the air breathed by the occupants and the cleanliness of the passenger
compartment (reduction of allergic symptoms, bad odours and greasy
deposits).
To guarantee correct operation of the air conditioning syste m, you are also
advised to have it checked regularly as recommended in the Warranty and
Maintenance Record.
If the system does not produce cold air, deactivate it and contact a
PEUGEOT dealer.
When towing the maximum load on a steep gradient in high temperatures,
switching off the air conditioning increases the available e ngine power and so
improves the towing ability. The condensation created by the
air conditioning results in a dis-
charge of water under the vehicle
which is perfectly normal.

DRIVING
Moving off
Apply the parking brake.
Select position P or N .
Start the engine.
If this procedure is not followed, an au-
dible signal is heard, accompanied by a
message on the multifunction screen.
With the engine running, press the
brake pedal.
Release the parking brake.
Select position R , D or M ,
Gradually release the brake pedal.
The vehicle moves off immediately.
If position N is engaged inadver-
tently while driving, allow the en-
gine to return to idle then engage
position D to accelerate. T h e g e a r b o x t h e n o p e r a t e s i n a u t o -
adaptive mode, without any intervention
on the part of the driver. It continuously
selects the most suitable gear accord-
i n g t o t h e s t y l e o f d r i v i n g , t h e p r o fi l e o f
the road and the load in the vehicle.
F o r m a x i m u m a c c e l e r a t i o n w i t h o u t
touching the lever, press the accelera-
t o r p e d a l d o w n f u l l y ( k i c k d o w n ) . T h e
g e a r b o x c h a n g e s d o w n a u t o m a t i c a l l y
or maintains the gear selected until the
m a x i m u m e n g i n e s p e e d i s r e a c h e d .
O n b r a k i n g , t h e g e a r b o x c h a n g e s d o w n
a u t o m a t i c a l l y t o p r o v i d e e f fi c i e n t e n g i n e
braking.
If you release the accelerator sharply,
t h e g e a r b o x w i l l n o t c h a n g e t o a h i g h e r
gear for safety reasons.
Automatic operation
Select position D for automatic

celerator being pressed.
When the engine is running, never
leave children in the vehicle without
supervision.
When carrying out maintenance with
the engine running, apply the par-
king brake and select position P . Sport and snow programmes
These two special programmes supple-
ment the automatic operation in very
s p e c i fi c c o n d i t i o n s o f u s e .
Return to automatic operation
At any time, press the button selected
again to quit the programme engaged
and return to auto-adaptive mode.

CHECKS
CHECKING LEVELS
Check all of these levels regularly and
top them up if necessary, unless other-
wise indicated.
I f a l e v e l d r o p s s i g n i fi c a n t l y , h a v e t h e
corresponding system checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer. Brake fluid level
In addition, as the cooling system is
pressurised, wait at least one hour after
switching off the engine before carrying
out any work.
To avoid any risk of scalding, unscrew
the cap by two turns to allow the pres-
sure to drop. When the pressure has
dropped, remove the cap and top up
the level.
Oil level The reading will only be correct
if the vehicle is on level ground
and the engine has been off for
more than 15 minutes.
The check is carried out either
when the ignition is switched on using
the oil level indicator on the instrument
panel, or using the dipstick. T h e b r a k e fl u i d l e v e l s h o u l d b e
close to the "MAX" mark. If it is
not, check the brake pad wear.
C h a n g i n g t h e fl u i d
Refer to the Warranty and Maintenance
Record for details of the interval for this
operation.
Power steering fluid level T h e p o w e r s t e e r i n g fl u i d l e v e l
should be close to the "MAX"
mark. Unscrew the cap, with the
engine cold, to check the level. Screenwash and headlamp
wash fluid
I n t h e c a s e o f v e h i c l e s fi t t e d w i t h
headlamp washers, the mini-
m u m l e v e l o f t h i s fl u i d i s i n d i -
cated by an audible signal and a
message on the multifunction screen.
Top up the level when you stop the ve-
hicle.
Engine oil change
Refer to the Warranty and Maintenance
Record for details of the interval for this
operation.
In order to maintain the reliability of the
engine and emission control system,
the use of additives in the engine oil is
prohibited.

The oil must correspond to your engine
and conform to the manufacturer's re-

Changing the coolant
The coolant does not have to be
changed.

For optimum cleaning and to avoid
f r e e z i n g , t h i s fl u i d m u s t n o t b e t o p p e d
up with or replaced with water.
Coolant level
The coolant level should be
close to the "MAX" mark but
should never exceed it.
When the engine is warm, the tempera-
ture of the coolant is regulated by the fan.
This can operate with the ignition off.

Brake disc wear

style of driving, particularly in

condition of the brakes checked, even

Unless there is a leak in the circuit, a
