The rear window wiper and washer operate when
the ignition switch is in the ON position.
Turn the switch clockwise from the OFF position
to operate the wiper.
s1Intermittent (INT) – intermittent operation

Push the switch forward
s3to operate the
washer. The wiper will also operate several times.
WARNING
In freezing temperatures the washer solu-
tion may freeze on the window and ob-
scure your vision. Warm the rear window
with the defroster before you wash the
rear window.
CAUTION
cDo not operate the washer continu-
ously for more than 30 seconds.
cDo not operate the washer if the reser-
voir tank is empty.
cDo not fill the window washer reservoir
tank with washer fluid concentrates at
full strength. Some methyl alcohol
based washer fluid concentrates may
permanently stain the grille if spilled
while filling the window washer reser-
voir tank.
cPre-mix washer fluid concentrates with
water to the manufacturer’s recom-
mended levels before pouring the fluid
into the window washer reservoir tank.
Do not use the window washer reservoir
tank to mix the washer fluid concen-
trate and water.To defrost the rear window glass, start the engine
and push the rear window defroster switch on.
The rear window defroster indicator light on the
switch comes on. Push the switch again to turn
the defroster off.
The rear window defroster automatically turns off
after approximately 15 minutes.
CAUTION
When cleaning the inner side of the rear
window, be careful not to scratch or dam-
age the rear window defroster.

cDrive extra carefully when the vehicle is
loaded at or near the cargo carrying
capacity, especially if the significant
portion of that load is carried on the
roof rack.
cHeavy loading of the roof rack has the
potential to affect the vehicle stability
and handling during sudden or abnor-
mal handling maneuvers.
cRoof rack load should be evenly
distributed.
cDo not exceed maximum roof rack load
weight capacity.
cProperly secure all cargo with ropes or
straps to help prevent it from sliding or
shifting. In a sudden stop or collision,
unsecured cargo could cause personal
injury.
CAUTION
Use care when placing or removing items
from the roof rack. If you cannot comfort-
ably lift the items onto the roof rack from
the ground, use a ladder or stool.Always evenly distribute the cargo on the roof
rack.The maximum total load including the
gear basket is 150 lb (68 kg) evenly distrib-
uted. The maximum total load for the gear
basket is 30 lb (13 kg) evenly distributed.Be
careful that your vehicle does not exceed the
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or the
Gross Axle Weight Ratings (GAWR front and
rear) . The GVWR and GAWR are located on the
F.M.V.S.S. label (located on the driver’s side door
jamb pillar) . For more information regarding
GVWR and GAWR, refer to “Vehicle loading
information” in the “Technical and consumer in-
formation” section later in this manual.
The crossbars can be adjusted or removed. Use
the Torxdriver provided in the tool kit (located
under the 2nd row seats) to loosen both crossbar
adjusting screws.
To adjust:
1. Loosen the adjusting screws with the
Torxdriver
s1by turning counterclockwise
sA.
2. When the clamp is loosened, move the
crossbar so the cargo can be positioned on
the crossbar
sB.
3. Tighten the crossbar adjusting screws with
the Torxdriver by turning clockwise.
4. Secure the cargo with rope.5. Always check the tightness of the crossbar
adjusting screws.
To remove:
1. Loosen the adjusting screws with the
Torxdriver
s1by turning counterclockwise
sA.
2. Rotate the clamps
sC.
3. Remove the crossbar.
4. Reverse to install.
5. Always check the tightness of the crossbar

To open the gear basket lid:
s1Turn the handle counterclockwise.
s2Raise the lid.
NOTE:
Cargo in the gear basket must fit with the
lid closed. The maximum total load for the
gear basket is 30 lb (13 kg) evenly distrib-
uted. Do not force the lid closed.
WARNING
The lid should be closed and locked when
driving.To remove the gear basket assembly:
1. Open the lid.
2. Loosen the 4 TorxThead fasteners with a
Torxdriver by turning counterclockwise

3. Lift the gear basket to remove it

4. Reverse to reinstall.
5. Always check the tightness of the gear bas-

OPENING THE FUEL-FILLER LID
Pull the lid to open.
FUEL-FILLER CAP
The fuel-filler cap is a ratcheting type. Turn the
cap counterclockwise to remove. To tighten, turn
the cap clockwise until ratcheting clicks are
heard.
Put the fuel-filler cap on the cap holder
s1while
refueling.
WARNING
cGasoline is extremely flammable and
highly explosive under certain condi-
tions. You could be burned or seriously
injured if it is misused or mishandled.
Always stop the engine and do not
smoke or allow open flames or sparks
near the vehicle when refueling.
cDo not attempt to top off the fuel tank
after the fuel pump nozzle shuts off
automatically. Continued refueling may
cause fuel overflow, resulting in fuel
spray and possibly a fire.
cUse only an original equipment type
fuel-filler cap as a replacement. It has a
built-in safety valve needed for proper
operation of the fuel system and emis-
sion control system. An incorrect cap
can result in a serious malfunction and
possible injury. It could also cause the
malfunction indicator light to come on.
cNever pour fuel into the throttle body to
attempt to start your vehicle.

Audio main operation
Power button and VOL control knob
Turn the ignition switch to the ACC or ON posi-
tion, then press the PWR (power) button. If you
listen to the radio with the engine not running,
turn the ignition switch to the ACC position. The
mode (radio or CD) that was playing immediately
before the system was turned off resumes play-
ing.
When no CD is loaded, the radio comes on.
Pressing the PWR button again turns the system
off.
Turn the VOL control knob to the right to increase
volume or to the left to decrease volume.
MENU button (BASS, TREBLE, FADE, BAL-
ANCE and CLOCK):
Press the MENU button to change the mode as
follows:

To adjust Bass, Treble, Fade and Balance, press
the MENU button until the desired mode appears
in the display. Press the SEEK button to adjust
Bass and Treble to the desired level. You can also
use the SEEK button to adjust Fade and Balance
modes. Fade adjusts the sound level between the
front and rear speakers and Balance adjusts the
sound between the right and left speakers.
Once you have adjusted the sound quality to the
desired level, press the MENU button repeatedly
until the radio or CD display reappears. Other-
wise, the radio or CD display will automatically
reappear after about 10 seconds.
NOTE:
If the clock is enabled, pressing the MENU
button will change the mode as follows:
BAS!TRE!FAD!BAL!CLOCK!
Hour adjustment!Minute adjustment!
Audio!BAS
For more information on setting the clock, see
“Clock set” later in this section.
Clock operation
Press the MENU button until CLOCK is dis-
played; use the SEEK button to turn the clock
display on (CLK ON) or off (CLK OFF) .Clock set
If the clock is not displayed with the ignition
switch in the ACC or ON position, you need to
select the CLK ON mode. Press the MENU but-
ton repeatedly until CLOCK is displayed. Use the
SEEK button to enable CLK ON mode.
1. Press the MENU button repeatedly until
CLOCK mode appears; press the SEEK
button until CLK ON appears.
2. Press the MENU button again; the hours will
start flashing.
3. Press the SEEK button

will switch to the minute adjustment mode.
5. The minutes will start flashing. Press SEEK

clock set mode.
The display will return to the regular clock display

again to return to the regular clock display.Resetting the time
Hold the MENU button down and then press the
TUNE/SEEK button; the time will reset as fol-
lows:
cIf the displayed minutes before the reset are
in the range of :00 - :29, the hour displayed
before the reset will stay the same and the
minutes will be reset to :00.
cIf the displayed minutes before the reset are
in the range of :30 - :59, the hour displayed
before the reset will advance by one hour
and the minutes will be reset to :00.
For example, if the MENU button and the TUNE/
SEEK button are pressed while the time dis-
played is between 8:00 and 8:29, the display will
be reset to 8:00. If the buttons were pressed
while the time was between 8:30 and 8:59, the
display will be reset to 9:00. At the same time the
display will return to the audio.
FM/AM radio operation
FM·AM button:
Press the FM·AM button to change from AMÃ!
FM reception.
The FM stereo indicator, ST, illuminates during
FM stereo reception. When the stereo broadcast
signal is weak, the radio automatically changes
from stereo to monaural reception.

If a compact disc is playing when the BAND
button is pressed, the compact disc will auto-
matically be turned off and the last radio station
played will come on.

MENU button:
When the MENU button is pressed while the
compact disc is playing, the play pattern changes
as follows:
RPTÃ!MIXÃ!Normal
RPT: The track that is currently playing will be
repeated.
MIX: The order of the tracks on the disc will be
mixed during play, not following the sequence on
the compact disc. The same track may be re-
peated twice. Press the
button while in the
MIX mode and tracks will be chosen at random.
When a new compact disc is inserted, the play
pattern automatically changes to normal.
CD EJECT:
When the
button is pressed with a com-
pact disc loaded, the compact disc will be
ejected.
When the
button is pressed while the
compact disc is playing, the compact disc will
eject and the system will turn off.
CD IN indicator:
This
indicator appears on the display when
a CD is loaded with the audio system on.
