Roof carrier mounting brackets*
When installing the roof carrier, use the brackets (A).
The brackets (A) are located under each cover (B). Attaching the roof carrier

er in the holes (D) in the roof.
2. Slide the cover (B) towards the rear of the ve- hicle to install it. Roof carrier precaution
CAUTION
l
Make
sure that the weight of the luggage
does not exceed the allowable roof load.
If the allowable roof load is exceeded, this
may cause damage to the vehicle.
The roof load is the total allowable load
on the roof (the weight of the roof carrier
plus the weight of luggage placed on the
roof carrier).
For the specific value, refer to “Maxi-
mum roof load” on page 9-07.
l When luggage is loaded onto the vehicle,
please make sure to drive slowly and
avoid excessive manoeuvres such as sud-
den braking or quick turning.
In addition, place the luggage on the car-
rier so that its weight is distributed even-
ly with the heaviest items on the bottom.
Do not load items that are wider than the
roof carrier.
The additional weight on the roof could
raise the vehicle’s centre of gravity and af-
fect vehicle handling characteristics.
As a result, driving errors or emergency
manoeuvres could lead to a loss of control
and result in an accident.
l Before driving and after travelling a
short distance, always check the load to
make sure it is securely fastened to the
roof carrier.
Check periodically during your travel
that the load remains secure. Starting and driving

prevent wind noise or reduction in fuel
economy, remove the roof carrier when not
in use.
l Remove the roof carrier before using an auto-
matic car wash.
l Be sure that adequate clearance is main-
tained for raising the tailgate when installing

order to tow a trailer with your vehicle, have a
trailer towing device that meets all relevant regula-
tions in your area, mounted consult a
MITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorized Service Point.
The regulations concerning the towing of a trailer
may differ from country to country. You are ad-
vised to obey the regulations in each area. CAUTION

Maximum towable weight with brake
and maximum trailer-nose weight
Never
exceed the maximum towable weight with
brake and the maximum trailer-nose weight as lis-
ted in the specifications.
(Refer to page 9-07.)
If you tow a trailer at an altitude of more than
1,000 m above sea-level, reduce your weight by
10 % of the gross combination weight for every in-
crease of 1,000 m above sea-level, as the engine out-
put is lowered owing to decrease in atmospheric

Notes on CD-Rs/RWs

l You
may have trouble playing back some
CD-R/RW discs recorded on CD recorders
(CD-R/RW drives), either due to their record-
ing characteristics or dirt, fingerprints,
scratches, etc. on the disc surface.
l CD-R/RW discs are less resistant to high tem-
peratures and high humidity than ordinary mu-
sic CDs and can therefore be damaged and
rendered unplayable if left inside your vehi-
cle for a long time.
l Depending on the combination of the writing
software, the CD recorder (CD-R/RW drive),
and the disc used to create a CD-R/RW, the
disc might not play successfully.
l This player cannot play the CD-R/RW discs
if the session is not closed.
l This player cannot play CD-R/RW discs
which contain other than CD-DA or MP3 da-
ta (Video CD, etc.).
l Be sure to observe the handling instructions
for the CD-R/RW disc. WARNING
l Operating
the CD player in a manner oth-
er than specifically instructed herein may
result in hazardous radiation exposure.
Do not remove the cover and attempt to
repair the CD player by yourself. There
are no user serviceable parts inside. If the
CD player is not working correctly, it is

l Be sure to remove the roof antenna in the fol-
lowing cases:
• When using an automatic car wash.

Select the automatic mode or the manual mode by
performing the following operations: A- PWR switch

TUNE switch
1. Press the PWR switch (A) to turn ON the au- dio system.
2. Enter the function setup mode by pressing the TUNE switch (B) for 2 seconds or longer.
3. Press the TUNE switch (B) repeatedly to se- lect the CT (Clock Time) mode.

14. Place the compressor (M) with its air pres-
sure gauge (N) on top.
Pull out the compressor’s power cord (O), in-
sert the plug on the cord into the accessory
socket or cigarette lighter socket (P), and
then turn the ignition switch to “ACC” posi-
tion or put the operation mode in ACC.
Turn ON the compressor switch (Q) and in-
flate the tyre to the specified pressure. CAUTION
l
The
supplied compressor is designed only
for inflation of passenger vehicle tyres.
l The compressor is designed to run on a ve-
hicle’s 12 V power supply. Do not connect
it to any other power source.
l The compressor is not waterproof. If you
use it in rain, make sure water does not
get on it. CAUTION
l
Any
sand or dust sucked into the compres-
sor could make the compressor break
down. Do not place the compressor direct-
ly on any sandy or dusty surface when us-
ing it.
l Do not disassemble or modify the com-
pressor. Also, do not subject the air pres-
sure gauge to shock. It could malfunction.
15. Check
and adjust the tyre pressure with refer- ence to the air pressure gauge on the compres-
sor. If you overinflate the tyre, release air by
loosening the hose’s end fitting. (Refer to
“Tyre inflation pressures” on page 8-12.)
If there is a gap between the tyre and wheel
because the tyre has moved inward from the
wheel rim, press the periphery of the tyre to-
wards the wheel to close the gap before run-
ning the compressor. (With no gaps, the tyre
pressure will rise.) CAUTION
l
Be
careful not to get your fingers trapped
between the tyre and wheel as the tyre in-
flates.
l The surface of the compressor will get
hot while the compressor is running. Do
not keep the compressor running continu-
ously for more than 10 minutes. After us-
ing the compressor, wait for the compres-
sor to cool before using it again. CAUTION
l
If
the compressor becomes sluggish or
hot while operating, it is overheating. Im-
mediately place the switch in the OFF po-
sition and let the compressor cool down
for at least 30 minutes.
NOTE l If

the tyre pressure does not rise to the speci-
fied level within 10 minutes, the tyre may be
so severely damaged that the tyre sealant can-
not be used to effect an emergency repair.
Please contact a MITSUBISHI MOTORS Au-
thorized Service Point or another specialist
in this event.
16. Turn OFF the compressor switch, then pull the power cord plug out of the socket.
NOTE l Simply putting sealant and air into the tyre us-
ing the tyre repair kit does not seal the punc-
ture hole. Air will leak through the puncture
hole until the emergency repair procedure is
completed (through step 19 of these instruc-
tions).
17. When you have inflated the tyre to the speci- fied pressure, stow the compressor, bottle,
and other items in the vehicle and promptly
start driving the vehicle. Drive with great
care. Do not exceed a speed of 80 km/h
(50 mph). Observe local speed limits. For emergencies

CAUTION
• When washing around the door glass,
hold the nozzle at a distance of more
than 70 cm and at right angles to the
glass surface.
l After washing the vehicle, drive the vehi-
cle slowly while lightly depressing the
brake pedal several times in order to dry
out the brakes.
Leaving the brakes wet could result in re-
duced braking performance. Also, there
is a possibility that they could freeze up
or become inoperative due to rust, render-
ing the vehicle unable to move.
l When using an automatic car wash, pay
attention to the following items, referring
to the operation manual or consulting a
car wash operator. If the following proce-
dure is not followed, it could result in dam-
age to your vehicle.
• The outside mirrors are retracted.
• The antenna is removed.
• The wiper arms are secured in placewith tape.
• If your vehicle is equipped with a rear spoiler or roof rails, consult a car
wash operator before using the car
wash.
• If your vehicle has rain sensor wipers, place the wiper switch lever in the
“OFF” position to deactivate the rain
sensor. During cold weather

and other chemicals spread on the roads in
some areas in winter can have a harmful effect on
the vehicle body. You should therefore wash the ve-
hicle as often as possible in accordance with our
care-instructions. It is recommended to have a pres-
ervative applied and the underfloor protection
checked before and after the cold weather season.
After washing your vehicle, wipe off all water-
drops from the rubber parts around the doors to pre-
vent the doors from freezing.
NOTE
l To prevent freezing of the weatherstripping
on the doors, bonnet, etc., they should be trea-
ted with silicone spray.

Waxing the vehicle will help prevent the adherence
of

dust and road chemicals to the paintwork. Apply
a wax solution after washing the vehicle, or at least
once every three months to assist displacing of water.
Do not wax your vehicle in direct sunlight. You
should wax after the surfaces have cooled. CAUTION
l
Waxes
containing high abrasive com-
pounds should not be used. Such waxes re-
move rust and stains effectively from the
paintwork but they are harmful to the lus-
tre on the painted surface and the plated
surface.
Further, they are harmful to glossy surfa-
ces such as grille, garnish, mouldings, etc. CAUTION
l
Do
not use petrol or paint thinners to re-
move road tar or other contamination to
the painted surface.
l Do not apply wax to sections that have a
black mat paint coating, as doing so
could cause uneven discolouration, spots
or stains. If wax gets on such areas, wipe
it off using lukewarm water and a soft
cloth.

The vehicle should only be polished if the paint-
work

has become stained or lost its lustre. Do not
polish parts with a mat coating and the plastic bump-
ers. Doing so could cause stains or damage the finish.

Small cracks and scratches in the paint coat should
be

touched up as soon as possible with
MITSUBISHI touch-up paint to prevent corrosion.
Check body areas facing the road or the tyres care-
fully for damage to the paint caused by gravels,
etc. The paint code number for your vehicle can be
found on the vehicle information code plate in the
engine compartment.

Use a sponge or chamois leather.
If

a car wax adheres on a grey or black rough sur-
face of the bumper, moulding or lamps, the surface
becomes white. In such a case, wipe it off using
