This Operator’s Manual is designed to pro

vide support information for you, the
COMAND
operator. Each chapter has its
own guide color to provide fast access to
information.
Since all models do not have the same
standard equipment, your COMAND sys

tem equipment may deviate from some de

components. If you are operating
COMAND
for the first time or if you have
rented or borrowed the vehicle, this is the
chapter you should read first.
System settingsThis chapter provides information on how
to adjust COMAND system settings.

32 At a glanceMenu systemThe main area 2 shows messages and
settings.You can change the settings by operating
the system.The status bar 3 is divided into three
areas.Left side: The current operating mode is indicated. In
this example: Radio
Center:The status of the current operating mode
or other selectable functions are indicated.In this example:
FM = current waveband
1 = memory location of station,
e.g. “1”
Right side:General status information is indicated
independent of the operating mode.In this example:
= Reception strength of the
mobile phone
Time
Menu functions and submenusUsing the soft keys, functions can be
switched ON or OFF, or submenus can be
called up.E.g. the radio menu:
The
FM/AM
soft key switches between
FM and AM band.
The
Scan
soft key starts/stops the
channel scan.

displayed on each side of the main area

The respective tones are activated or
deactivated. You hear the tone when
you activate it.
Press the
Back
soft key.
The System settings menu will appear.
The setting is saved.
In the System settings menu, press the Display
soft key.
You can use the following functions:
set the display dimming characteristics
adjust the display brightness

Day modeThe display is continuously set to
daylight design.Night modeThe display is continuously set to night-
time design.AutomaticThe display changes depending on the
ambient light sensor in the vehicle.

the time of purchase. Please be aware
that your vehicle might not be
equipped with all features described in

Warning

In order to avoid distraction which could
lead to an accident, the driver should enter
system settings with the vehicle at a stand

still and operate the audio system only if
permitted by road, weather and traffic con

ditions. Bear in mind that at a speed of just 30 mph
(approximately 50 km/h), your vehicle is co

vering a distance of 44 feet (approximately
14 m) every second.

In the CD list
The CD list includes all loaded CDs. Only
one list entry is visible at a time.The entry is displayed above the track
indication. It shows the number of the CD
currently playing.
Push the joystick to H or h to
select another CD from the list.Loading CD
is displayed.
After the CD is loaded, playback
begins.
With the number keypad
Selecting a CD (CD changer only)iSelection is possible if the
CD changer has loaded the magazine
(COMAND knows the position of filled
and empty slots) and at least two audio
or MP3 CDs are loaded.
