B700A02A-AAT Your Hyundai is equipped with bi-level heating controls. This makes it pos- sible to have cooler air from the dash-board vents and warmer air from the floor outlets at the same time. To use this feature:
o Set the air intake control to the fresh air (

o Set the air flow control at the bi-level

o Adjust the fan speed control to the desired speed.

B720A01CM-DAT Use the heating/ventilation system to demist or defog the windshield. To remove interior fog on the windshield:
o Set the air flow control to the demist (

o To keep dust or unpleasant fumes
from entering the car through the ventilation system, temporarily set the air intake control at "Recircula- tion (
)" . Be sure to return the
control to "Fresh (
)" when the
irritation has passed to keep fresh air in the vehicle. This will help keep thedriver alert and comfortable.
o Air for the heating/cooling system is
drawn in through the grilles just aheadof the windshield. Care should be taken that these are not blocked by leaves, snow, ice or other obstruc-tions.
o To prevent interior fog on the wind-
shield, set the air intake control tothe fresh air (
) position, fan speed
to the desired position, turn on the air conditioning system, and adjust tem-perature control to desired tempera- ture.

To use the air conditioning to cool the interior:
o Turn on the fan control switch.
o Turn on the air conditioning switch bypushing in on the switch. The air conditioning indicator light should come on at the same time.
o Set the air intake control to "Fresh" mode (

o Set the temperature control to "Cool". ("Cool" provides maximum cooling. The temperature may be moderated by moving the control toward"Warm".)

you first get in, open the windows for a few minutes to expel the hot air.
o When you are using the air condition-
ing system, keep all windows closedto keep hot air out.
o When moving slowly, as in heavy
traffic, shift to a lower gear. Thisincreases engine speed, which in turn increases the speed of the air conditioning compressor.
o On steep grades, turn the air condi- tioning off to avoid the possibility ofthe engine overheating.
o During winter months or in periods when the air conditioning is not usedregularly, run the air conditioning onceevery month for a few minutes. This will help circulate the lubricants and keep your system in peak operatingcondition.

B970C01CM-GAT Automatic Operation The FATC (Full Automatic Tempera- ture Control) system automatically con- trols heating and cooling by doing asfollows:
1. Push the AUTO button. It is indi-
cated by AUTO on the display. The modes, fan speeds, air intake and air-conditioning will be controlledautomatically by temperature set- ting. 2. Turn the "TEMP" knob to set the
desired temperature.The temperature will increase to the maximum 32°C(90°F) by turning theknob clockwise. The temperature will decrease to the minimum 17°C(62°F) by turning theknob counterclockwise.
NOTE: If the battery has been discharged or disconnected, the temperature mode will reset to Centigrade degrees. This is a normal condition and youcan change the temperature mode from Centigrade to Fahrenheit as follows;

B980B01Y-AAT Fan Speed Control The fan speed can be set to the desired speed by pressing the appropriate fanspeed control button. The higher the fan speed is, the more air is delivered. Pressing the "OFF" button turns off thefan. B670C03Y-DAT Air Intake Control Switch (Without A.Q.S) This is used to select fresh outside air or recirculation inside air.To change the air intake control mode, push the control button.
B980A01Y-AAT Manual Operation The heating and cooling system can be controlled manually as well as by push-ing buttons other than the "AUTO" but- ton. In this state, the system sequen- tially works according to the order ofbuttons selected. The function of the buttons which are not selected will be controlled automati-cally. Press the "AUTO" button in order to convert to automatic control of the sys-tem.
