o To keep dust or unpleasant fumes
from entering the car through the ventilation system, temporarily set the air intake control at "Recircula- tion (
)" . Be sure to return the
control to "Fresh (
)" when the
irritation has passed to keep fresh air in the vehicle. This will help keep thedriver alert and comfortable.
o Air for the heating/cooling system is
drawn in through the grilles just aheadof the windshield. Care should be taken that these are not blocked by leaves, snow, ice or other obstruc-tions.
o To prevent interior fog on the wind-
shield, set the air intake control tothe fresh air (
) position, fan speed
to the desired position, turn on the air conditioning system, and adjust tem-perature control to desired tempera- ture.

To use the air conditioning to cool the interior:
o Turn on the fan control switch.
o Turn on the air conditioning switch bypushing in on the switch. The air conditioning indicator light should come on at the same time.
o Set the air intake control to "Fresh" mode (

o Set the temperature control to "Cool". ("Cool" provides maximum cooling. The temperature may be moderated by moving the control toward"Warm".)

o During winter months or in periods when the air conditioning is not usedregularly, run the air conditioning onceevery month for a few minutes. This will help circulate the lubricants and keep your system in peak operatingcondition.

B970C01CM-GAT Automatic Operation The FATC (Full Automatic Tempera- ture Control) system automatically con- trols heating and cooling by doing asfollows:
1. Push the AUTO button. It is indi-
cated by AUTO on the display. The modes, fan speeds, air intake and air-conditioning will be controlledautomatically by temperature set- ting. 2. Turn the "TEMP" knob to set the
desired temperature.The temperature will increase to the maximum 32°C(90°F) by turning theknob clockwise. The temperature will decrease to the minimum 17°C(62°F) by turning theknob counterclockwise.
NOTE: If the battery has been discharged or disconnected, the temperature mode will reset to Centigrade degrees. This is a normal condition and youcan change the temperature mode from Centigrade to Fahrenheit as follows;

RECIRCULATION MODE (
) : The
indicator light on the button is illumi- nated when the air intake control is recirculation mode. With the "Fresh" mode selected, air enters the vehicle from the outside and is heated or cooled according to thefunction selected. With the "Recirculation" mode selected, and air from within the passenger com- partment will be drawn through the heat- ing system and heated or cooled ac-cording to the function selected. NOTE: It should be noted that prolonged operation of the heating system in "recirculation" mode will give rise tofogging of the windshield and side windows and the air within the pas- senger compartment will becomestale. In addition, prolonged use of the air conditioning with the "Recir- culation" mode selected may resultin the air within the passenger com- partment becoming excessively dry.

To assist in demisting, the air con-ditioning will operate if ambient tem- perature is higher than 3.5°C and auto- matically turns off if the ambient tem-perature drops below 3.5°C.
Floor-Demist Level
When selecting the "Floor-Demist Level" mode, the indicator light will come on and the air will be discharged throughthe windshield demister nozzle, the floor vents, side demister nozzle and side ventilator.

You may select the rear air conditioning ON/OFF button in the front seat.When pushing the button, the indicator light will come on and the rear air con- ditioning will operate. NOTE: The rear air conditioning system can only be used when the front air con-ditioning system is operating.
4. Set the temperature control to warm
or cool. When the cool box is notused, turn the lever to its closed position. Turn the knob up (RED mark) when warm air is desired, ordown (BLUE mark) when cool air is desired.
B750A02CM-DAT (If installed) You can keep beverage cans or other items warm or cool using the open/close lever of the vent installed in the centre console box.
