Head restraint
The driver's and front passenger's seats
are equipped with a head restraint for the
occupant's safety and comfort.
The head restraint not only provides
comfort for the driver and front passen-
ger, but also helps to protect the head
and neck in the event of a collision.
WARNING
For maximum effectiveness in case of an accident, the head restraint should be adjusted so
the middle of the head restraint isat the same height of the centre
of gravity of an occupant's head.
Generally, the centre of gravity ofmost people's head is similarwith the height of the top of their
eyes. Also, adjust the head
restraint as close to your head as
possible. For this reason, the use
of a cushion that holds the body
away from the seatback is notrecommended.
Do not operate the vehicle with the head restraints removed as
severe injury to the occupants
may occur in the event of an acci-
dent. Head restraints may provide
protection against neck injuries
when properly adjusted.
Do not adjust the head restraint position of the driver's seat
whilst the vehicle is in motion.
CAUTION
When cleaning the seats, do not
use an organic solvent such as
thinner, benzene, alcohol andpetrol. Doing so may damage thesurface of the heater or seats.
To prevent overheating the seat warmer, do not place blankets,
cushions or seat covers on the seats whilst the seat warmer is inoperation.
Do not place heavy or sharp objects on seats equipped withseat warmer. Damage to the seat warming components could occur.
WARNING - Seat warmer
burns
Passengers should use extreme
caution when using seat warmers
due to the possibility of excess
heating or burns. In particular, the
driver must exercise extreme care
for the following types of passen-
gers:
1. Infants, children, elderly or hand- icapped persons, or hospital out- patients
2. Persons with sensitive skin or those that burn easily
3. Fatigued individuals
4. Intoxicated individuals
5. Individuals taking medication that can cause drowsiness or
sleepiness (sleeping pills, cold
tablets, etc.)

button will not illuminatewhen the outside (fresh) airposition is selected.
With the outside (fresh) airposition selected, air enters
the vehicle from outside andis heated or cooled accord-ing to the function selected.✽✽ NOTICE
Prolonged operation of the heater in the
recirculated air position (without airconditioning selected) may cause fog-
ging of the windscreen and side windows
and the air within the passenger com-partment may become stale.
In addition, prolonged use of the air con-
ditioning with the recirculated air posi-
tion selected will result in excessively dry
air in the passenger compartment.

Fan speed control
The ignition switch must be in the ON
position for fan operation.
The fan speed control knob allows you to
control the fan speed of the air flowing
from the ventilation system. To change
the fan speed, turn the knob to the right
for higher speed or left for lower speed.
Setting the fan speed control knob to the
0 position turns off the fan.
WARNING
• Continued climate control system operation in the recirculated air
position may allow humidity to
increase inside the vehicle which
may fog the glass and obscure
visibility.
Do not sleep in a vehicle with the air conditioning or heating system
on. It may cause serious harm or
death due to a drop in the oxygen
level and/or body temperature.
Continued climate control system operation in the recirculated air
position can cause drowsiness or
sleepiness, and loss of vehicle
control. Set the air intake control tothe outside (fresh) air position as
much as possible whilst driving.OTQ047074

When using the air conditioning sys-
tem, you may notice clear water drip-
ping (or even puddling) on the ground
under the passenger side of the vehi-
cle. This is a normal system operation
characteristic.
Operating the air conditioning system in the recirculated air position provides
maximum cooling, however, continual
operation in this mode may cause the
air inside the vehicle to become stale.
During cooling operation, you may occasionally notice a misty air flow
because of rapid cooling and humid air
intake. This is a normal system opera-
tion characteristics. D230504ATQ-UK Fuel-fired Heater (if equipped) This fuel-fired heater supplies additional
heat to the interior compartment with a
low fuel consumption to compensate the
heat provided by engine alone.
The following 3 conditions should be
meet at the same time for automatic
operation of the fuel-fired heater.
68°C.
A cleaning process of the fuel-fired
heater will be performed automatically
when the heater is not operated due to
increase of coolant temperature and igni-
tion off.
During cleaning process, supplied fuel in
the heater will be burnt completely and
any smoke will be expelled. It is a neces-
sary process for next operation and
durability of the heater and takes about
1~3 minutes.✽✽ NOTICE

WARNING - Windscreen
heating
Do not use the or position during cooling operation in
extremely humid weather. The dif-
ference between the temperature ofthe outside air and that of the wind-screen could cause the outer sur-
face of the windscreen to fog up,
causing loss of visibility. In this
case, set the mode selection knob
or button to the position and
fan speed control knob or button to
the lower speed.

WARNING - ENGINE EXHAUST CAN BE DANGEROUS!
Engine exhaust gases are potentially lethal. If at any time engine exhaust gas is detected within the passenger compartment,
move the vehicle to an open area and open all windows.
• Never inhale exhaust gas.
Exhaust gases contain Carbon Monoxide which is colourless and odourless. Carbon Monoxide is poisonous and can cause
unconsciousness and death by asphyxiation.
Ensure that the exhaust system is maintained in good condition and is free from excessive corrosion and damage which may
result in leakage. If the vehicle is driven over an object which strikes the exhaust system, ensure that the exhaust system is
inspected at the first available opportunity to ensure that no leakage exists.
Do not run the engine in confined spaces, allowing the engine to idle in a garage, even when the doors are open is danger-
ous practice. Only start the engine immediately prior to moving the vehicle out of the garage.
If it is necessary to allow the vehicle to idle for prolonged periods, ensure that the heating system air intake control is set to
the "Fresh" position, the blower is set to high speed operation and that the vehicle is standing in an open area.
To ensure correct operation of the heater system, the air intake grilles at the base of the windscreen must not be obstructed b y
snow leaves etc..

Check the condition and connections of all cooling system hoses and heater
hoses. Replace any swollen or deterio-
rated hoses.
The coolant level should be filled
between F and L marks on the side of the
coolant reservoir when the engine iscool.
If the coolant level is low, add enough
specified coolant to provide protection
against freezing and corrosion. Bring the
level to F, but do not overfill. If frequent
additions are required, see a HYUNDAI
authorised repairer for a cooling systeminspection. G070101AUN-UK
Recommended engine coolant
Use only soft (de-mineralized) water in
the coolant mixture.
The engine in your vehicle has alu- minium engine parts and must be pro-
tected by an ethylene-glycol-based
coolant to prevent corrosion and freez-ing.
DO NOT USE alcohol or methanol coolant or mix them with the specifiedcoolant.
Do not use a solution that contains more than 60% antifreeze or less than
35% antifreeze, which would reduce
the effectiveness of the solution.
For mixture percentage, refer to the fol-
lowing table.

Turn the engine off and wait until
it cools down. Use extreme care
when removing the radiator cap.
Wrap a thick towel around it, and
turn it counterclockwise slowly to
the first stop. Step back whilst
the pressure is released from the
cooling system. When you aresure all the pressure has been
released, press down on the cap,
using a thick towel, and continue
turning counterclockwise to
remove it.
Even if the engine is not operat- ing, do not remove the radiatorcap or the drain plug whilst the
engine and radiator are hot. Hot
coolant and steam may still blow
out under pressure, causing seri-
ous injury.
