Operational distance may vary depend-
ing upon the area the transmitter is used
in. For example, if the vehicle is parked
near police stations, government and
public offices, broadcasting stations, mil-
itary installations, airports, or transmit-
ting towers, etc.Battery replacement
Transmitter uses a 3 volt lithium battery
which will normally last for several years.
When replacement is necessary, use the
following procedure.
1. Insert a slim tool into the slot and gen-
tly pry open the transmitter centre
cover (1).
2. Replace the battery with new one. When replacing the battery, make sure
the battery positive “+” symbol faces
up as indicated in the illustration.
3. Install the battery in the reverse order of removal.
For replacement transmitters, see an
authorised Hyundai dealer for repro-
gramming.
CAUTION
Keep the transmitter away from water or any liquid. If the keyless entry system is inoperative due toexposure to water or liquids, it will
not be covered by your manufactur-er vehicle warranty.

CAUTION
The keyless entry system transmit-
ter is designed to give you years of trouble-free use, however it can malfunction if exposed to moisture
or static electricity. If you are unsure how to use your transmitteror replace the battery, contact an authorised Hyundai dealer.
CAUTION
• Using the wrong battery can cause the transmitter to malfunc-
tion. Be sure to use the correct battery.
To avoid damaging the transmit- ter, don't drop it, get it wet, orexpose it to heat or sunlight.
CAUTION
An inappropriately disposed bat-tery can be harmful to the environ- ment and human health.
Dispose the battery according toyour local law(s) or regulation.

Turn signals and lane change sig- nals
The ignition switch must be on for the
turn signals to function. To turn on the
turn signals, move the lever up or down
(A). Green arrow indicators on the instru-
ment panel indicate which turn signal is
operating. They will self-cancel after a
turn is completed. If the indicator contin-
ues to flash after a turn, manually return
the lever to the OFF position. To signal a lane change, move the turn
signal lever slightly and hold it in position
(B). The lever will return to the OFF posi-tion when released.
If an indicator stays on and does not
flash or if it flashes abnormally, one of the
turn signal bulbs may be burned out andwill require replacement.
✽✽
NOTICE
If an indicator flash is abnormally quick
or slow, bulb may be burned out or have
a poor electrical connection in the cir-cuit.
Front fog light (if equipped)
Fog lights are used to provide improved
visibility and avoid accidents when visibil-
ity is poor due to fog, rain or snow etc.
The fog lights will turn on when fog light
switch (1) is turned to ON after the park-
light is turned on.
To turn off the fog lights, turn the switch
to OFF.

CAUTION
When in operation, the fog lights consume large amounts of vehicle
electrical power. Only use the foglights when visibility is poor or unnecessary battery and generatordrain could occur.

Maintenance
FUSES
A vehicle’s electrical system is protected
from electrical overload damage by
fuses. This vehicle has 2 (or 3) fuse panels, one
located in the driver’s side panel bolster,
the other in the engine compartment
near the battery.
If any of your vehicle’s lights, acces-
sories, or controls do not work, check the
appropriate circuit fuse. If a fuse has
blown, the element inside the fuse will bemelted.
If the electrical system does not work,
first check the driver’s side fuse panel.
Always replace a blown fuse with one of
the same rating.
If the replacement fuse blows, this indi-
cates an electrical problem. Avoid using
the system involved and immediately
consult an authorised Hyundai dealer.
Three kinds of fuses are used: blade type
for lower amperage rating and cartridge
type, fusible link for higher amperage rat-ings.

WARNING - Fuse replace-
ment
Never replace a fuse with any- thing but another fuse of the same rating.
A higher capacity fuse could cause damage and possibly a
fire.
Never install a wire instead of the proper fuse - even as a temporary
repair. It may cause extensive
wiring damage and possibly a fire.
CAUTION
Do not use a screwdriver or any
other metal object to remove fuses because it may cause a short circuit
and damage the system.
