To go back one step in a command
process, say ‘‘Go back,’’ or press
the HFL Back button.
If nothing is said while HFL is
listening f or a command, HFL will
time out and stop its voice
recognition, then prompt you with
available options or help
inf ormation. The next time you
press the HFL Talk button, HFL
begins listening f rom the point at
which it timed out.
To end a command sequence at
any time, press and hold the HFL
Back button, or press and release
the HFL Talk button, wait for the
beep, and say ‘‘Cancel.’’ The next
time you press the HFL Talk
button, HFL begins from its main
menu.When you f inish a command
sequence, HFL returns to idle. For
example, when you store the name
‘‘Eric,’’ the HFL system response
is ‘‘Eric has been stored.’’ The
next time you press the HFL Talk
button, HFL begins from its main
menu.
Your Bluetooth
compatible phone
with Hands Free Prof ile must be
paired to HFL bef ore you can make
and receive hands-free calls. To
conf irm that your phone is
Bluetooth
compatible, visit , or call (888)
528-7876. In Canada, call (888) 9-
HONDA-9. Your phone retailer
should also be able to conf irm that
your phone is Bluetooth
compatible. HFL does not allow you to pair
your phone if the vehicle is
moving.
For pairing, your phone must be in
its discovery mode (searching f or
a Bluetooth related device).
Up to six phones can be paired to
HFL.
The f ollowing procedure works f or
most phones. If you cannot pair
your phone to HFL with this
procedure, ref er to your phone’s

You can make calls using any phone
number, or by using a name in the
HFL phonebook. You can also redial
the last number called. During a call,
HFLallowsyoutotalkupto30
minutes af ter you remove the key
f rom the ignition switch. Continuing
a call without running the engine
may discharge and weaken the
vehicle’s battery.Press and release the Talk button.
Af ter the beep, say ‘‘Call’’ or ‘‘Dial.’’
HFL responds ‘‘Calling’’ or
‘‘Dialing.’’
Once connected, you will hear the
person you called through the
audio speakers. To change the
volume, use the audio system
volume knob, or the steering
wheel volume controls.
To end the call, press the Back
button.
With your phone on and the
ignition switch in the
ACCESSORY (I) or ON (II)
position, press and release the
Talk button. After the beep, say
‘‘Call’’ or ‘‘Dial.’’

Apply the parking brake.
In cold weather, turn of f all
electrical accessories to reduce
the drain on the battery.If the engine does not start within
15 seconds, or starts but stalls
right away, repeat step 4 with the
accelerator pedal pressed halfway
down. If the engine starts, release
pressure on the accelerator pedal
so the engine does not race.If the engine fails to start, press
the accelerator pedal all the way
down, and hold it there while
starting to clear flooding. If the
engine still does not start, return
to step 5.
Press the clutch pedal down all the
way. The START (III) position
does not f unction unless the clutch
pedal is pressed.
Without touching the accelerator
pedal, turn the ignition key to the
START (III) position. Do not hold
the key in the START (III)
position f or more than 15 seconds
at a time. If the engine does not
start right away, pause for at least
10 seconds bef ore trying again.
Make sure the shif t lever is in
Park. Press on the brake pedal.

T he immobilizer system protects your
vehicle f rom thef t. If an improperly
coded key (or other device) is used, the
engine’s f uel system is disabled. For
more inf ormation, see page . The engine is harder to start in cold
weather. Also, the thinner air f ound at
altitudes above 8,000 f eet (2,400
meters) adds to this problem.

If you need to connect the battery to
a charger, disconnect both cables to
prevent damaging your vehicle’s
electrical system. Always disconnect
the negative ( ) cable first, and
reconnect it last.
If additional battery maintenance is
needed, see your dealer or a
qualif ied technician.
Battery posts,
terminals, and related accessories
contain lead and lead compounds. If your vehicle’s battery is
disconnected, or goes dead, the
audio system will disable itself . The
nexttimeyouturnontheradio,you
may see ‘‘ENTER CODE’’ in the
f requency display. Use the preset
buttons to enter the code (see page
).
The navigation system will also
disableitself.Thenexttimeyouturn
on the ignition switch, the system
will require you to enter a PIN
bef ore it can be used. Ref er to the
navigation system manual.
If your vehicle’s battery is
disconnected, or goes dead, the time
setting will be reset to 1:00. To set
the time again, f ollow the setting
procedure (see page ).
