SPEEDOMETER Fig. 22
Indicates the car’s speed.
REV. COUNTER Fig. 23
This indicates the engine revolution per
minute.
IMPORTANT The electronic injection
control system gradually shuts off the flow
of fuel when the engine is ‘over-revving’
resulting in a gradual loss of engine pow-
er.
When the engine is idling, the rev counter
may indicate a gradual or sudden increase
of the speed.
This is normal and does not indicate a
fault. It may be caused, for example, by the
operation of the climate control system
or fan. In these case, a slow change in en-
gine speed is used to protect the battery
charge.

DUALDRIVE ELECTRIC
POWER STEERING
The car is provided with an electric pow-
er steering system which only works with
the key at MARand the engine running.
The system called “Dualdrive” allows to
customise the effort required to turn the
steering wheel according to driving con-
ditions.
ON/OFF (CITY function)
Press CITY fig. 126in the central part of
the dashboard to turn the function on and
off.
The CITYwarning light on the instru-
ment panel will light up when the function
is on; in other versions, the message
CITYwill appear on the reconfigurable
multifunctional display.
With the CITYfunction the effort on the
steering wheel is lighter, thus facilitating
parking manoeuvres: this is particularly
useful when driving in towns.
fig. 126F0H0716m
Under no circumstances
should aftermarket opera-
tions involving steering system or
steering column modifications (e.g.:
installation of anti-theft device) be
carried out that could badly affect
performance and safety. This also
causes the warranty to become null
and void and results in vehicle non-
compliance with type-approval re-
quirements.
WARNING
The car can be driven using the mechani-
cal steering in case of failure to the elec-
tric power steering system. Take the car
to a Fiat Dealership as soon as possible.
IMPORTANT The steering may before
stiffer when parking requiring a lot of
steering. This is normal and caused by the
electric control motor overheating sys-
tem. No repairs are needed. The power
steering system will start working prop-
erly again the next time the car is used.
Before starting any mainte-
nance operation, stop the
engine and remove the key from the
ignition switch to operate the steer-
ing lock, particularly when the car is
lifted off the ground. If this is not pos-
sible (i.e. if the key must be kept in
the MAR position or the engine must
be kept running), remove the main
electric power steering system fuse.
WARNING
FAILURE INDICATIONS
Electric power steering failure is indicated
by the turning on of warning light
gon
the instrument panel together with the
dedicated message on the reconfigurable
multifunctional display (where provided),
(see section “Warning lights and mes-
sages”).

EMERGENCY
The kit cannot be used to re-
pair damage to the tyre si-
dewall. Do not use the quick repair
kit if the tyre was damaged by run-
ning on a flat.
WARNING
The damage cannot be re-
paired with the kit if the
wheel rim is damaged (deformation
of the channel causing leakage of air).
Do not remove the foreign body
(screw or nail) from the tyre.
WARNING
Do not operate the com-
pressor for longer than 20
minutes consecutively. Risk of
overheating. The quick repair kit is
not suitable for definitive repairs. The
tyres may only be repaired tempora-
rily.
WARNING
INFLATION PROCEDURE
❒Ensure that the handbrake is up.
Undo the tyre valve cap, extract the
inflation tube A-fig. 5and tighten the
ring nut Bon the tyre valve;
fig. 5F0H0747mThe cylinder contains ethyl
glycol. Contains latex: may
cause an allergic reaction. Harmful if
swallowed. Irritates the eyes. May
cause sensitization by inhalation or
contact. Avoid contact with your
eyes, skin and clothes. In the event of
contact, wash immediately with
plenty of water. Do not induce vomi-
ting if swallowed. Rinse your mouth
and drink plenty of water. Call a doc-
tor immediately. Keep away from
children. The product must not be
used by asthmatics. Do not breathe
in the vapours during insertion and
suction. Call a doctor immediately if
allergic reactions are noted. Store the
cylinder in the specific compartment,
away from sources of heat. The sea-
lant fluid has an expiry date.
WARNING
Replace the canister contai-
ning out of date sealant fluid.
Dispose of the cylinder and
the sealant liquid properly. Di-
spose according to the national and lo-
cal laws in force.
Put on the protection gloves
provided together with quick
tyre repair kit.

WHEELS AND TYRES
Check the pressure of each tyre, including
the spare wheel, approximately once
every two weeks and before setting off on
a long journey: this check must be perfor-
med with the tyre rested and cold.
It is normal for pressure to increase when
the car is used. For the correct tyre in-
flation pressure, see “Wheels” in “Tech-
nical specifications” section.
Incorrect pressure causes abnormal tyre
wearfig. 15:
A: normal pressure: evenly worn tread.
B: low pressure: tread particularly worn
on the edges.
C: excessive pressure: tread particularly
worn in the middle.
The tyres must be replaced when the
tread is less than 1.6 mm thick. In all ca-
ses, follow the laws in force in the coun-
try where you are driving.
IMPORTANT NOTES
❒Avoid braking suddenly, burning starts
and violent knocks against the curb,
potholes or other obstacles if possible.
Long distances on rough roads may da-
mage the tyres;
❒check the tyres regularly for cuts on the
sides, swelling or irregular tread wear.
Go to a Fiat Dealership if required.
❒Do not overload your vehicle: this may
cause serious damage to wheels and ty-
res;
❒if a tyre is punctured, stop the vehicle
immediately and charge it to avoid da-
mage to the tyre, the rim, suspensions
and steering system;
❒a tyre will age even if it is not used mu-
ch. Cracks in the tread and on the si-
dewalls are a sign of ageing. Have the
tyres checked by specialised personnel
if they have been fitted for longer than
6 years. Remember to check the spa-
re wheel very carefully;
❒In case of replacement, always fit new
tyres, avoiding those with an unknown
origin.
fig. 15F0H0216m
Remember that the road
holding qualities of your car
also depends on the correct inflation
pressure of the tyres.
Excessively low pressure will cause
overheating of the tyre and may cau-
se severe tyre damage.
WARNING
Do not exchange the tyres
from the left to the right of
the car and vice versa.
Do not repaint alloy wheel rims at
temperatures higher than 150°C. The
mechanical characteristics of the
wheels might be disrupted.
WARNING
❒If a tyre is replaced, also change the in-
flation valve.
❒to allow even wear between the front
and rear tyres, it is advisable to chan-
ge them over every 10-15 thousand ki-
lometres, keeping them on the same si-
de of the car so as not to reverse the
direction of rotation.
