The incorrect installation of a child
s e a t i n a v e h i c l e c o m p r o m i s e s t h e
c h i l d ' s p r o t e c t i o n i n t h e e v e n t o f a n
accident.
R e m e m b e r t o f a s t e n t h e s e a t b e l t s o r
the child seat harnesses keeping the
s l a c k r e l a t i v e t o t h e c h i l d ' s b o d y t o a
m i n i m u m , e v e n f o r s h o r t j o u r n e y s .
When installing a child seat using the
seat belt, ensure that the seat belt is
tightened correctly on the child seat
a n d t h a t i t s e c u r e s t h e c h i l d s e a t fi r m l y
on the seat of your vehicle.
F o r o p t i m u m i n s t a l l a t i o n o f t h e " f o r -
wards-facing" child seat, ensure that
the back of the child seat is in contact
w i t h t h e b a c k o f t h e v e h i c l e ' s s e a t
and that the head restraint does not
c a u s e a n y d i s c o m f o r t .
I f t h e h e a d r e s t r a i n t h a s t o b e r e m o v e d ,
ensure that it is stored or attached se-
c u r e l y t o p r e v e n t i t f r o m b e i n g t h r o w n
around the vehicle in the event of
sharp braking. As a safety precaution, do not leave:
- o n e o r m o r e c h i l d r e n a l o n e a n d
unsupervised in a vehicle,
- a c h i l d o r a n a n i m a l i n a v e h i c l e w h i c h i s e x p o s e d t o t h e s u n , w i t h
the windows closed,
- the keys within reach of children inside the vehicle.
To prevent accidental opening of the
doors and rear windows, use the
"Child lock".
Take care not to open the rear windows
b y m o r e t h a n o n e t h i r d .
T o p r o t e c t y o u n g c h i l d r e n f r o m t h e
r a y s o f t h e s u n , fi t s i d e b l i n d s o n t h e
rear windows.
C h i l d r e n u n d e r t h e a g e o f 1 0 m u s t
not travel in the "forwards-facing"
position on the front passenger seat,
unless the rear seats are already oc-
cupied by other children, cannot be
used or are absent.
Deactivate the passenger airbag
when a "rearwards-facing" child seat
is installed on the front seat.

Installing a booster seat
T h e c h e s t p a r t o f t h e s e a t b e l t m u s t

without touching the neck.
Ensure that the lap part of the seat
b e l t p a s s e s c o r r e c t l y o v e r t h e c h i l d ' s
thighs.

b o o s t e r s e a t w h i c h h a s a b a c k , fi t t e d
with a seat belt guide at shoulder level.

Front seat belts
T h e f r o n t s e a t b e l t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a p r e -
tensioning and force limiting system.
T h i s s y s t e m i m p r o v e s s a f e t y i n t h e f r o n t
s e a t s i n t h e e v e n t o f a f r o n t i m p a c t .
D e p e n d i n g o n t h e s e v e r i t y o f t h e i m -
p a c t , t h e p r e t e n s i o n i n g s y s t e m i n s t a n t l y
tightens the seat belts against the body
o f t h e o c c u p a n t s .
T h e p r e t e n s i o n i n g s e a t b e l t s a r e a c t i v e
when the ignition is on.
T h e f o r c e l i m i t e r r e d u c e s t h e p r e s s u r e
of the seat belt on the chest of the occu-
p a n t , s o i n c r e a s i n g t h e i r p r o t e c t i o n .
Fastening
P u l l t h e s t r a p , t h e n i n s e r t t h e t o n g u e
in the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened

The seat belt is stored automatically
when not in use.
Before and after use, ensure that the
seat belt is reeled in correctly.

p e l v i s .
T h e u p p e r p a r t m u s t b e p o s i t i o n e d i n
the hollow of the shoulder.
T h e i n e r t i a r e e l s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n a u -
tomatic locking device which comes
i n t o o p e r a t i o n i n t h e e v e n t o f a c o l l i -
sion, emergency braking or if the ve-
hicle rolls over. You can release the
d e v i c e b y p u l l i n g r a p i d l y o n t h e s t r a p
and releasing it. Recommendations for
children
U s e a s u i t a b l e c h i l d s e a t i f t h e p a s -
s e n g e r i s l e s s t h a n 1 2 y e a r s o l d o r
shorter than one and a half metres.
Never use the same seat belt to se-
c u r e m o r e t h a n o n e p e r s o n .
N e v e r a l l o w a c h i l d t o t r a v e l o n y o u r l a p .
In order to be effective, a seat belt:
- must be tightened as close to the
b o d y a s p o s s i b l e ,
- m u s t r e s t r a i n o n e p e r s o n o f a d u l t s i z e o n l y ,
- must not bear any trace of cuts or fraying,
- m u s t b e p u l l e d i n f r o n t o f y o u w i t h a smooth movement, checking
that it does not twist,
- m u s t n o t b e a l t e r e d o r m o d i fi e d t o a v o i d a l t e r i n g i t s p e r f o r m a n c e .

u l a t i o n s , a l l r e p a i r s a n d c h e c k s m u s t

bench seat, ensure that the seat belt

If a collision occurs, the electronic de-
tectors record and analyse the front and
s i d e i m p a c t s s u s t a i n e d i n t h e i m p a c t
d e t e c t i o n z o n e s :
- i n t h e c a s e o f a s e r i o u s i m p a c t , t h e airbags are triggered instantly and
p r o t e c t t h e o c c u p a n t s o f t h e v e h i c l e
( w i t h t h e e x c e p t i o n o f t h e r e a r c e n t r e
p a s s e n g e r ) ; i m m e d i a t e l y a f t e r t h e
i m p a c t , t h e a i r b a g s d e fl a t e r a p i d l y
so that they do not hinder visibility

- i n t h e c a s e o f a m i n o r o r r e a r i m p a c t or in certain roll-over conditions, the

The airbags do not operate
when the ignition is switched
off.

Triggering of the airbag(s) is ac-

of harmless smoke and a noise,

the system.
This smoke is not harmful, but
s e n s i t i v e i n d i v i d u a l s m a y e x p e r i -
ence slight irritation.
The noise of the detonation may
result in a slight loss of hearing
for a short time. Front airbags
