BATTERY
Before disconnecting the battery, you
must wait for 2 minutes after switching
off the ignition.
Never disconnect a terminal when the
engine is running.
N e v e r c h a r g e a b a t t e r y w i t h o u t fi r s t
disconnecting the terminals.
After every reconnection of the battery,
switch on the ignition and wait 1 minute
before starting to allow the electronic
systems to be initialised. If slight
d i f fi c u l t i e s a r e e x p e r i e n c e d a f t e r t h i s ,
p l e a s e c o n t a c t a C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r .
After changing bulbs, wait
a p p r o x i m a t e l y 3 m i n u t e s b e f o r e
reconnecting the battery. It is advisable to disconnect the
battery if the vehicle is not to be used
f o r a p e r i o d o f m o r e t h a n o n e m o n t h .
To charge the battery using a
battery charger
- Disconnect the battery,
- Follow the instructions for use
given by the battery charger
manufacturer,
- R e c o n n e c t s t a r t i n g w i t h t h e negative (-) terminal,
- C h e c k t h a t t h e t e r m i n a l s a n d connectors are clean. If they are
c o v e r e d w i t h s u l p h a t e ( w h i t e o r
g r e e n i s h d e p o s i t ) , d i s c o n n e c t t h e m
and clean them.
To start the vehicle from
another battery
- C o n n e c t t h e r e d c a b l e t o t h e p o s i t i v e ( + ) t e r m i n a l s o f t h e t w o
batteries,
- C o n n e c t o n e e n d o f t h e g r e e n o r b l a c k c a b l e t o t h e n e g a t i v e ( - )
terminal of the slave battery,
- C o n n e c t t h e o t h e r e n d o f t h e g r e e n o r b l a c k c a b l e t o a n e a r t h p o i n t o n
t h e b r o k e n d o w n v e h i c l e a s f a r a s
p o s s i b l e f r o m t h e b a t t e r y ,
- O p e r a t e t h e s t a r t e r , l e t t h e e n g i n e r u n ,
- Wait for the engine to return to idle, then disconnect the cables. A f t e r t h e e n g i n e h a s s t o p p e d , w i t h
t h e k e y i n t h e i g n i t i o n p o s i t i o n , c e r t a i n
f u n c t i o n s ( w i n d s c r e e n w i p e r , e l e c t r i c
windows, courtesy lights, audio
e q u i p m e n t , e t c . ) c a n o n l y b e u s e d f o r a
cumulative duration of thirty minutes, to
p r e v e n t d i s c h a r g i n g o f t h e b a t t e r y .
O n c e t h e t h i r t y m i n u t e s a r e o v e r , t h e
a c t i v e f u n c t i o n s a r e p u t o n s t a n d b y
a n d t h e b a t t e r y w a r n i n g l i g h t fl a s h e s
a c c o m p a n i e d b y a m e s s a g e o n t h e
d i s p l a y .
T o r e s u m e t h e u s e o f t h e s e f u n c t i o n s
immediately, start the engine and let it
run for a few minutes.
T h e t i m e a v a i l a b l e w i l l t h e n b e d o u b l e
the time for which the engine was left
running. However, this time will always
b e b e t w e e n fi v e a n d t h i r t y m i n u t e s .
A fl a t b a t t e r y w i l l p r e v e n t t h e e n g i n e
from starting.
