THE ALARM SYSTEM *
The alarm offers two types of protec-
tion:
- exterior protection: the alarm
sounds if a door, the boot or the
bonnet is opened ;
- interior protection: the alarm
sounds if there is a variation in
the volume inside the vehicle
(breaking of a window or move-
ment inside the vehicle) .
Setting the alarm
Switch the ignition off and get out of
t h e v e h i c l e .
A c t i v a t e t h e a l a r m w i t h i n fi v e m i n u t e s
f o l l o w i n g y o u r e x i t f r o m t h e v e h i c l e ,
by locking using the remote control
key (the red indicator light on the
switch 1 , which can be seen from the
o u t s i d e , fl a s h e s o n c e a s e c o n d ) . Warning
If, on setting the alarm, a door, the
boot or the bonnet are not closed
correctly, the siren sounds for a mo-
m e n t .
Close the vehicle correctly to set the
a l a r m .
If the interior protection alarm is trig-
gered ten times in succession, it is
d i s a r m e d a u t o m a t i c a l l y . I t m u s t b e
set again in order for it to operate
c o r r e c t l y .
W h e n t h e a l a r m i s t r i g g e r e d , t h e s i r e n
sounds and the direction indicators
fl a s h f o r t h i r t y s e c o n d s .
After it has been triggered, the alarm
b e c o m e s o p e r a t i o n a l a g a i n .
Note: if you wish to lock your vehicle
without setting the alarm, lock it using
t h e k e y i n t h e d o o r l o c k .
Disarming the alarm
Unlock the vehicle using the remote
control key (the red indicator light on
the switch 1 g o e s o u t ) .
Note: i f t h e w a r n i n g l i g h t fl a s h e s , i t i s
a sign that the alarm has been trig-
g e r e d i n y o u r a b s e n c e .
T o s t o p i t , s w i t c h o n t h e i g n i t i o n .
Note: when the alarm is set, but the
remote control no longer works:
unlock the doors using the key
and open the door; the alarm is
triggered;
switch the ignition on within ten
s e c o n d s ; t h e a l a r m i s d i s a r m e d .
To set the alarm with exterior
protection only
If, while you are away from the vehicle,
you wish to leave a window partially
open or a pet inside the vehicle, you

OPENING THE BONNET
Inside the vehicle: pull the handle on
t h e l e f t - h a n d s i d e , u n d e r t h e f a s c i a .
Outside the vehicle: lift the catch
a n d r a i s e t h e b o n n e t .
BONNET STRUT
Secure the strut to hold the bonnet
o p e n .
Before closing the bonnet, replace
t h e s t r u t i n i t s h o u s i n g .
FILLING WITH FUEL
W h e n t h e m i n i m u m
fuel level in the tank is
reached, this warning
l i g h t c o m e s o n . W h e n t h e c a p i s r e m o v e d ,
the right-hand sliding side
d o o r c a n n o t b e o p e n e d .
The key cannot be removed
from the lock until the cap
has been replaced on the
f u e l t a n k .
A label reminds you which type of
f u e l t o u s e .
W h e n y o u fi l l y o u r t a n k , d o n o t c o n -
tinue after the third cut-off of the
p u m p . T h i s c o u l d c a u s e y o u r v e h i c l e
t o m a l f u n c t i o n .
To close
Lower the bonnet and release it at
t h e e n d o f i t s t r a v e l .

Low fuel level
You have enough fuel remaining
to drive for approximately 30 miles
(50 km).
The engine must be switched off
w h e n fi l l i n g w i t h f u e l .
I n s e r t t h e k e y t h e n t u r n i t t o t h e l e f t .
R e m o v e t h e c a p .
The capacity of the tank is approxi-
mately 55 litres for petrol engines
and 60 litres for Diesel engines.

HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS
Press the button, the direction indicators
fl a s h .
They can operate with the ignition off. Press one of the spokes or
the centre of the steering
wheel.
0 - With no load.
1 - With partial load.
2 - With average load.
3 - With maximum authorised load.
0 - 1 or 2 people in the front seats.
- - 3 people.
1 - 5 to 7 people.
2 - 5 to 7 people + maximum author-
ised load.
3 - Driver + maximum authorised
load.
Initial setting is position 0.
Depending on the load in your vehicle,
it is recommended that the headlamp
beam is adjusted.
When stationary, lower the handle to
unlock the steering wheel.
Adjust to the desired height and
lift the handle to lock the steering
wheel.

HANDBRAKE
Illumination of this warning
light and of the STOP warn-
ing light, accompanied by
an audible signal (while the
vehicle is moving), indicates that the
handbrake is still applied or has not
been released fully.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) AND THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE FORCE DISTRIBUTION (EBFD)
The ABS, in conjunction with the
electronic brake force distribution,
increases the stability and manoeu-
vrability of your vehicle on braking,
in particular on poor or slippery road
surfaces.
Note: when changing wheels (tyres
and rims), make sure that these are
approved.
The anti-lock braking system comes
into operation automatically when
there is a risk of wheel lock.
When this warning light comes
on, connected to the STOP
and ABS warning lights, it
indicates that there is a mal-
function of the electronic brake force
distribution, which can cause a loss of
control of the vehicle when braking.
Stop immediately.
In both cases, consult a CITROËN
dealer. When this warning light
comes on, accompanied by a
buzzer, it indicates that there
is a malfunction of the ABS,
which can cause a loss of control of
the vehicle when braking. Normal operation of the ABS may
make itself felt by slight vibrations
of the brake pedal.
In emergency braking, press
v e r y fi r m l y w i t h o u t r e l e a s i n g t h e
p r e s s u r e .
Releasing
Pull the handle and press the button
to release the handbrake.
Applying
When parking, pull the handbrake to
immobilise your vehicle.

W i t h t h e i g n i t i o n s w i t c h e d o f f ,
insert the key into the passenger
air bag disarming switch 1 , turn
it to the "OFF" position, then re-
move the key keeping the slot in
this position. The air bag warning light on
the instrument panel is lit
throughout the period of dis-
arming.
In the "OFF" position, the passen-
ger air bag will not be triggered in the
event of an impact.
As soon as the child seat is removed,
turn the air bag slot to the "ON" po-
sition to re-activate the air bag and
thus ensure the safety of your pas-
senger in the event of an impact.
T h i s i s c o n fi r m e d b y a n i n d i -
cator light, accompanied by
a message on the display.
With the ignition on (2nd
notch), illumination of this warning
light indicates that the passenger air
bag is disarmed (switch in the "OFF"
position).
If the two air bag warning
lights are lit continuously, do
not install a rear-facing child
seat. Consult a CITROËN
dealer.
