2009 CHEVROLET UPLANDER seat adjustment

)(Bi-Level):Air is divided between the instrument
panel and oor outlets. Some air is directed towards the
windshield and side window outlets.
6(Floor):Air is directed to the oor outlets. Use this
mode to send air to the rear of the vehicle. Keep the
area under the front seats free of objects that could
obstruct airow to the rear of the vehicle.
-(Defog):This mode clears the windows of fog or
moisture. Air is directed to the windshield and the oor
outlets. When this mode is selected, the system runs
the air-conditioning compressor unless the outside
temperature is at or below freezing. The recirculation
mode cannot be selected while in the defog mode.
0(Defrost):This mode clears the windshield of fog
or frost more quickly. Air is directed to the windshield
and the side window outlets, with some air directed to
the oor outlets. In this mode, the system automatically
runs the air-conditioning system, unless the outside
temperature is at or below freezing. Recirculation cannot
be selected while in the defrost mode.
Do not drive the vehicle until all the windows are clear.
#(Air Conditioning):Press to turn the air
conditioning system on or off. The fan must be on
to operate the air conditioning. An indicator light
comes on when the air conditioning is on.
A slight change in engine performance may be
noticeable when the air conditioning turns off and on
again. This is normal. The system is designed to make
adjustments to help with fuel economy while still
maintaining the selected temperature.
On hot days, open the windows to let hot inside air
escape; then close them. This helps to reduce the time
it takes for the vehicle to cool down so the system
operates more efficiently.
The air conditioning system removes moisture from
the air, so a small amount of water might drip under
the vehicle while idling or after turning off the engine.
This is normal.
Outside Air:Outside air is automatically selected in
any mode, except maximum air conditioning.

Rear Window Defogger
The rear window defogger uses a warming grid to
remove fog from the rear window.
window defogger on or off. An indicator light comes on
when the rear window defogger is on.
The rear window defogger turns off about 15 minutes
after the button is pressed. If turned on again, the
defogger will only run for about ve minutes before
turning off. The defogger can also be turned off
by turning off the engine.
Notice:Do not use anything sharp on the inside of
the rear window. If you do, you could cut or damage
the warming grid, and the repairs would not be
covered by the vehicle warranty. Do not attach a
temporary vehicle license, tape, a decal or anything
similar to the defogger grid.
((Heated Seats):Press to turn on the heated seats.

Outlet Adjustment
Use the louvers located on the air outlets to change the
direction of the airow.
Use the thumbwheels on the driver side and passenger
side air outlets to open or close the airow from
these outlets.
Operation Tips

Clear away any ice, snow, or leaves from the air
inlets at the base of the vehicle that could block
the ow of air into the vehicle.
Do not use any non-GM approved hood deectors
that could adversely affect the performance of the
system.
Keep the path under the front seats clear of objects
to help circulate the air inside of the vehicle more
effectively.

Rear Climate Control System
For vehicles with a rear climate control system, the
driver or rear seat passengers may be able to adjust the
fan speed for the rear seating area. This system works
with the main climate control system.
This lever is located below the main climate control
system and it is used to adjust the fan speed for the rear
seat passengers.
9(Off):Turns the fan off.
A(Fan):Slide the lever to 1, 2, or 3 to increase or
decrease airow to the rear seating area.
AUX (Auxiliary):Slide the lever to AUX to let the rear
passengers adjust the temperature and airow to the rear
seating area.When the front climate control is in AUX and the rear
climate control fan or temperature button is pressed, the
display shows the same airow modes as the front
climate control system. SeeDual Climate Control
System on page 3-25Dual Climate Control System.
The front control must be in the AUX position to enable
adjustment of the temperature and fan speed on the
rear control system. If it is not in AUX, pressing the fan
or temperature button on the rear climate control will
show a DISABLED message on the Rear Seat
Entertainment (RSE) system display.
qg(Decrease Setting):Press to decrease the fan
or temperature setting while arrows are displayed.
rl(Increase Setting):Press to increase the fan or
temperature setting while arrows are displayed.
9(Fan)b(Temperature):Press once to enable
adjustment of the fan speed. The current fan speed
setting and arrows are highlighted on the display screen.

Rear Air Outlets
The outlet behind the driver side rear seat is for the cold
air return. Be sure to keep it free from obstructions.
Also, keep the area around the base of the center
instrument panel console, between and under the front
seats, free of objects that could also obstruct airow
to the rear seating area.

Passenger Compartment Air Filter
Both outside and recirculated air are routed through a
passenger compartment lter. Pollen, dust particles and
other contaminants are removed by the lter. Air
reductions indicate that the lter needs to be replaced.

replacement intervals.
The access panel for the passenger compartment air
lter is located in the back of the glove box. To replace
the lter:
1. Pull the tab located on the outer access panel
up and out.

Fixed Mast Antenna
The xed mast antenna can withstand most car washes
without being damaged as long as it is securely
attached to the base. If the mast becomes slightly bent,
straighten it out by hand. If the mast is badly bent,
replace it.
Occasionally check to make sure the antenna is
tightened to its base. If tightening is required, tighten
by hand until fully seated plus one quarter turn.
XM™ Satellite Radio Antenna
System
The XM Satellite Radio antenna is located on the roof of
the vehicle. Keep the antenna clear of obstructions for
clear radio reception.
Chime Level Adjustment
The radio is used to adjust the vehicle’s chime volume
level. To adjust the chime volume level:
1. Turn the radio off with the ignition in the ON/RUN
position.
2. Press and hold pushbutton 6, the volume level will
change from the normal level to loud, and LOUD
will appear on the radio display.
If the chime volume is at the normal level, it
changes to the loud level and LOUD appears on
the radio display.
If the chime volume is at the loud level, it
changes to the normal level and NORMAL
appears on the radio display.
Removing the radio and not replacing it with a factory
radio or chime module disables the chimes.

Maintenance Footnotes
#Lubricate the suspension, steering linkage, and the
underbody contact points and linkage.
(a)Visually inspect brake lines and hoses for proper
hook-up, binding, leaks, cracks, chafing, etc. Inspect
disc brake pads for wear and rotors for surface
condition. Inspect other brake parts, including calipers,
parking brake, etc. Check parking brake adjustment.
(b)Visually inspect front and rear suspension and
steering system for damaged, loose, or missing parts,
signs of wear, or lack of lubrication. Inspect power
steering lines and hoses for proper hook-up, binding,
leaks, cracks, chafing, etc.
(c)Visually inspect hoses and have them replaced if
they are cracked, swollen, or deteriorated. Inspect all
pipes, fittings and clamps; replace with genuine parts as
needed. To help ensure proper operation, a pressure test
of the cooling system and pressure cap and cleaning the
outside of the radiator and air conditioning condenser is
recommended at least once a year.
(d)Inspect wiper blades for wear, cracking, or
contamination. Clean the windshield and wiper blades,
if contaminated. Replace wiper blades that are worn
or damaged. See Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement
on page 5-46 and Windshield, Backglass, and Wiper
Blades on page 5-94 for more information.(e)Make sure the safety belt reminder light and safety
belt assemblies are working properly. If your vehicle has
a built-in child restraint, make sure the harness straps,
latch plates, buckle, clip, child head restraint, and
anchorages are working properly. Look for any other
loose or damaged safety belt system parts. If you see
anything that might keep a safety belt system from doing
its job, have it repaired. Have any torn or frayed safety
belts replaced. Also see Checking the Restraint Systems
on page 1-92.
(f)Lubricate all key lock cylinders, hood latch
assemblies, secondary latches, pivots, spring anchor
and release pawl, hood and door hinges, rear folding
seats, liftgate hinges, fuel door hinge, power sliding
door cable, and sliding door track(s). More frequent
lubrication may be required when exposed to a corrosive
environment. Applying silicone grease on weatherstrips
with a clean cloth will make them last longer, seal
better, and not stick or squeak.
(g)If you drive regularly under dusty conditions, inspect
the filter at each engine oil change.
