Braking assistance systems
Group of supplementary systems which help you to obtain optimum braking in complete safety in emergency situations: - anti-lock braking system (ABS), - electronic brake force distribution (EBFD), - emergency braking assistance (EBA).
Anti-lock braking system

Linked systems which improve the stability and manoeuvrability of your vehicle when braking, in par ticular on poor or slippery sur faces.
Activation
The anti-lock braking system comes into operation automatically when there is a risk of wheel lock. Normal operation of the ABS may make itself felt by slight vibration of the brake pedal.
When braking in an emergency, press very firmly without releasing the pressure.
Operating fault
If this warning lamp comes on, together with the STOP and ABSwarning lamps, accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the multifunction screen, it indicates a malfunction of the electronic brake force distribution which could result in loss of control of the vehicle when braking. You must stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
When replacing wheels (tyres and rims), ensure that they conform to the manufacturer's recommendations.
If this warning lamp comes on, accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the multifunction screen, it indicates a malfunction of the anti-lock braking system which could result in loss of control of the vehicle when braking.
In either case, contact a CITROËN dealer.

173Practical information
 Connect the white pipe C to the valve of the tyre to be repaired.  Connect the compressor's electric plug to the vehicle's 12 V socket.  Affix the speed limitation sticker to the vehicle's steering wheel to remind you that a wheel is in temporary use.  Star t the vehicle and leave the engine running.
 Switch on the compressor by moving the switch B to position "1" until the tyre pressure reaches 2.0 bars.
If after around 5 to 7 minutes the pressure is not attained, this indicates that the tyre is not repairable; contact a CITROËN dealer for assistance.

Remove the kit, taking care to avoid staining your vehicle with traces of fluid. Keep the kit to hand.  Drive immediately for approximately three miles (five kilometres), at reduced speed (between 15 and 35 mph [20 and 60 km/h]), to plug the puncture.
 Stop to check the repair and the tyre pressure using the kit.
 Turn the selector A to the AIR position.  Connect the black pipe D to the valve of the wheel.
Checking/Adjusting tyre pressures
You can use this kit to inflate other accessories such as a ball or bicycle tyres. To do this, turn the selector to the "Inflation (AIR)" position, connect the black pipe with the appropriate adaptor to the accessory to be inflated, then follow the rest of the procedure below as far as removal of the kit. You can also use this kit for routine checking and adjustment of the tyre pressures on your vehicle. For this, carry out just the following 6 points.
 Connect the compressor's electric plug to the vehicle's 12 V socket.  Star t the vehicle again and leave the engine running.

 Adjust the pressure using the compressor (to inflate: switch B in position "1" ; to deflate: switch B in position "0" and press button E ), in accordance with the vehicle's tyre pressure label (located on the left hand door aper ture). A loss of pressure indicates that the
puncture has not been fully plugged; contact a CITROËN dealer for assistance.  Remove and stow the kit.
 Drive at reduced speed (50 mph [80 km/h] max) limiting the distance travelled to approximately 120 miles (200 km).
 Visit a CITROËN dealer as soon as
possible to have the tyre repaired or replaced by a technician.
Take care, this product is harmful (e.g. ethylene-glycol, colophony, ethanediol...) if swallowed and causes
irritation to the eyes. Keep it out of reach of children. The expiry date of the fluid is indicated on the car tridge. The sealant car tridge is designed for single use; even if only par tly used, it must be replaced. To remove the car tridge, unscrew it completely at its cap and pull off. After use, do not discard the car tridge into the environment, take it to an authorised waste disposal site or a CITROËN dealer. Do not forget to obtain a new sealant car tridge, available from CITROËN dealers.

CITROËN towbar is used.
Driving advice
Distribution of loads
 Distribute the load in the trailer so that the heaviest items are as close as possible to the axle and the nose weight approaches the maximum permitted without exceeding it. Air density decreases with altitude, thus reducing engine per formance. Above 1 000 metres, the maximum towing load must be reduced by 10 % and so on for every 1 000 metres of altitude. Refer to the "Technical Data" section for details of the weights and towing loads which apply to your vehicle.
Side wind
 Take into account the increased sensitivity to side wind.
Cooling
Towing a trailer on a slope increases the temperature of the coolant. As the fan is electrically controlled, its cooling capacity is not dependent on the engine speed.  To lower the engine speed, reduce your speed. The maximum towing load on a long slope depends on the gradient and the ambient temperature. In all cases, pay attention to the coolant temperature.
Braking
Towing a trailer increases the braking distance.
Tyres
 Check the tyre pressures of the towing vehicle and of the trailer, obser ving the recommended pressures.
Lighting
 Check the electrical lighting and signalling on the trailer.
 If the warning lamp and the STOP warning lamp come on, stop the vehicle and switch off
the engine as soon as possible.

Identifi cation markings
Various visible markings for the identification of yo ur vehicle.
A. Vehicle identification number (VIN) under the bonnet.
This number is engraved on the bodywork near the damper mounting.
B. Vehicle identification number on the dashboard. This number is indicated on a self-adhesive label which is visible through the windscreen.
D. Tyre/paint label. This label is affixed to the driver's centre pillar.
Wheels which are fitted with 205/45 R17 tyres cannot be fitted with snow chains. For further information, contact a CITROËN dealer.
If the inflation pressures are too low, this increases fuel consumption.
The inflation pressures must be checked when the tyres are cold, at least once a month.
C. Manufacturer's label. The VIN is indicated on a self-destroying label
affixed to the driver's centre pillar.
It bears the following information: - the tyre pressures, for unladen and laden conditions, - the wheel rim and tyre sizes, - the brands of tyre recommended by the manufacturer, - the spare tyre inflation pressure, - the paint colour code.
