Child safety
ADVICE ON CHILD SEATS
The incorrect installation of a child seat
in a vehicle compromises the child's
p r o t e c t i o n i n t h e e v e n t o f a n a c c i d e n t .
Remember to fasten the seat belts or
the child seat harnesses keeping the
slack in relation to the child's body to a
minimum , e v e n f o r s h o r t j o u r n e y s .
To protect young children from the
r a y s o f t h e s u n , fi t s i d e b l i n d s t o
t h e r e a r w i n d o w s .
CHILD MONITORING MIRROR
This mirror enables the driver or front
passenger to observe all the rear
s e a t s .
Fitted on its own ball joint and able to
retract into its housing in the roof, it
provides a panoramic view of the rear
i n t e r i o r o f t h e v e h i c l e .
For optimum installation of the "forward
facing" child seat, ensure that the back of
the child seat is in contact with the back
of the vehicle's seat and that the head
r e s t r a i n t d o e s n o t c a u s e a n y d i s c o m f o r t .
If the head restraint has to be removed,
ensure that it is stored or attached
securely to prevent it from being
thrown around the vehicle in the event
o f s h a r p b r a k i n g .
Children under the age of 10 must not
travel in the "forward facing" position
on the front passenger seat, unless
the rear seats are already occupied by
other children, cannot be used or are
a b s e n t .
Disarm the passenger air bag when a
"rear facing" child seat is installed on
t h e f r o n t s e a t .
Otherwise, the child would risk being
seriously injured or killed if the air bag
w e r e t o i n fl a t e . As a safety precaution, do not leave:
- one or more children alone and
unsupervised in a vehicle,
- a child or an animal in a vehicle which is exposed to the sun, with
the windows closed,
- the keys within reach of children i n s i d e t h e v e h i c l e .
To prevent accidental opening of the
d o o r s , u s e t h e " C h i l d L o c k " .
Take care not to open the rear windows
b y m o r e t h a n o n e t h i r d .
Installing a booster seat
The chest part of the seat belt must
be positioned on the child's shoulder
w i t h o u t t o u c h i n g t h e n e c k .
Ensure that the lap part of the seat belt
p a s s e s c o r r e c t l y o v e r t h e c h i l d ' s t h i g h s .
