INSTRUMENTS and CONTROLS
Warning lamp is on Cause Action/Observations
Front
foglamps fi x e d . The front foglamps are
switched on. Turn the ring on the stalk rearwards twice to switch
off the front foglamps.
Rear
foglamps fi x e d . The rear foglamps are
switched on. Turn the ring on the stalk rearwards to switch off
the rear foglamps.
Diesel engine
pre-heating fi x e d . The ignition switch is at the
2 nd position (ignition on). Wait until the warning lamp has switched off befor
e starting.
The duration for which the warning lamp is on is d etermined
by the climatic conditions.
Parking brake fi x e d . The parking brake is applied
or not properly released. Release the parking brake to switch off the warnin
g
lamp, keeping your foot on the brake pedal.
Observe the safety recommendations.
For further information on the parking brake, refe r to
the "Driving" section.
Engine
coolant
temperature fi x e d b l u e On starting the engine, it
indicates that the engine is
cold. After a few minutes driving, it swiches off to
indicate that the engine temperature is normal.
In order to protect your engine, avoid driving too
hard until the warning lamp has switched off.
Passenger’s
airbag
system fi x e d . The control switch, located
at the driver's end of the
dashboard, is in the
"
ON
"
position.
The passenger's front airbag
is activated.
In this case, do not install a
rear-facing child seat. Turn the control switch to the
"
OFF
" position to
deactivate the front passenger's airbag.
In this case you can install a rear-facing child se at.
The passenger's airbag system is automatically put
into service on starting the vehicle ( "
ON
" position).
Electric child
lock temporarily. The electric child lock is
activated. Displayed for a few seconds after activating the
function.

Deactivation indicator lamps

Passenger’s
airbag
system fi x e d . The control switch, located
at the driver's end of the
dashboard, is set to the
"OFF
" position.
The passenger’s front airbag
is deactivated.
In this case you can install a
"rear facing" child seat. Set the control switch to the
"ON" position to acti-
vate the passenger’s front airbag. In this case, do
n o t fi t a c h i l d s e a t i n t h e r e a r - f a c i n g p o s i t i o n .
The passenger’s airbag system is put into service
automatically when the vehicle is started ( "ON"
position).
ESP/ASR fi x e d . The button, located in the
middle of the dashboard, is
pressed. Its indicator lamp
is on.
The ESP/ASR is deactivated.
ESP: electronic stability pro-
gramme.
ASR: anti-skid regulation. Press the button to activate the ESP/ASR. Its
indicator lamp switches off.
The ESP/ASR system is activated automatically
when the vehicle is started.
If deactivated, the system is reactivated automati
cally
from approximately 30 mph (50 km/h).

CITROËN recommends that chil-
dren should travel in the rear seats
of your vehicle, with the rear seats
in the fully back position:
- "rearwards-facing" up to the
age of 2,
- "forwards-facing" over the
age of 2.
TO CHILD SEATS
"Forwards-facing"
When a "forwards-facing" child seat is
installed on the front passenger seat ,
adjust the vehicle's seat to the interme-
diate longitudinal position with the seat
back upright and leave the passenger
airbag activated.
"Rearwards-facing"
When a "rearwards-facing" child seat is
installed on the
front passenger seat ,
it is essential that the passenger airbag
is deactivated. Otherwise, the child
would risk being seriously injured or
k i l l e d i f t h e a i r b a g w e r e t o i n fl a t e .

teria when designing your vehicle, the
safety of your children also depends on
you.
For maximum safety, please follow
these precautions:
- in accordance with European regula-
tions, all children under the age of
12 or less than one and a half me-
tres tall must travel in approved
child seats suited to their weight ,
o n s e a t s fi t t e d w i t h a s e a t b e l t o r
ISOFIX mountings * ,
- statistically, the safest seats in
your vehicle for the transportation
of children are the rear seats,
- a child weighing less than 9 kg
must travel in the "rearwards-
facing" position both in the front
a n d i n t h e r e a r .

Installing a booster seat
The chest part of the seat belt must
be positioned on the child's shoulder
without touching the neck.
Ensure that the lap part of the seat
belt passes correctly over the child's
thighs.
C I T R O Ë N r e c o m m e n d s t h e u s e o f a
b o o s t e r s e a t w h i c h h a s a b a c k , fi t t e d
with a seat belt guide at shoulder level. As a safety precaution, do not leave:
- a child or children alone and unsu-
pervised in a vehicle,
- a child or an animal in a vehicle which is exposed to the sun, with
the windows closed,
- the keys within reach of children inside the vehicle.
To prevent accidental opening of the
doors and rear windows, use the
"Child lock".
Take care not to open the rear win-
dows by more than one third.
To protect young children from the
r a y s o f t h e s u n , fi t s i d e b l i n d s o n t h e
rear windows.
The incorrect installation of a child
seat in a vehicle compromises the
child's protection in the event of an ac-
cident.
R e m e m b e r t o f a s t e n t h e s e a t b e l t s o r
the child seat harnesses keeping the
slack relative to the child's body to a
minimum, even for short journeys.
When installing a child seat using the
seat belt, ensure that the seat belt is
tightened correctly on the child seat
a n d t h a t i t s e c u r e s t h e c h i l d s e a t fi r m l y
on the seat of your vehicle.
For optimum installation of the "for-
wards-facing" child seat, ensure that
the back of the child seat is in contact
with the back of the vehicle's seat and
that the head restraint does not cause
any discomfort.
If the head restraint has to be removed,
ensure that it is stored or attached se-
curely to prevent it from being thrown
around the vehicle in the event of sharp
braking. Children under the age of 10 must not
travel in the "forwards-facing" position
on the front passenger seat, unless
the rear seats are already occupied
by other children, cannot be used or
are absent.
Deactivate the passenger airbag
when a "rearwards-facing" child seat
is installed on the front seat.
Otherwise, the child would risk being
seriously injured or killed if the airbag
w e r e t o i n fl a t e .

Fastening
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue
in the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap.
To lower the attachment point,
squeeze the control A and slide it
downwards.
To raise the attachment point, slide
the control A upwards.
When the ignition is switched
on, this warning lamp comes on,
either on the instrument panel
or on the seat belt and passen-
ger’s front airbag warning lamp display,
if the driver and/or the front passenger
has not fastened their seat belt.
From approximately 12 mph (20 km/h)
t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s f o r t w o m i n -
utes accompanied by an audible signal.
Once these two minutes have elapsed,
this warning lamp remains on until the
driver and/or the front passenger fas-
tens their seat belt.
Unfastening
Press the red button on the buckle.
Guide the seat belt as it rolls up. SEAT BELTS
Front seat belts
T h e f r o n t s e a t b e l t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a p r e -
tensioning and force limiting system.
This system improves safety in the front
seats in the event of a front impact.
Depending on the severity of the im-
pact, the pretensioning system instantly
tightens the seat belts against the body
of the occupants.
The pretensioning seat belts are active
when the ignition is on.
The force limiter reduces the pressure of
the seat belt on the chest of the occupant,
so improving their protection.

Locking
When the rear side side belts are not
being used, you can lock them in place.
To do so:
Raise the grip A to its maximum height.
Fastening
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue
in the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap.
Unfastening
Press the red button on the buckle.
Guide the seat belt as it rolls up.
The corresponding warning lamp 2 or 3
comes on in red on the seat belt and
passenger’s front airbag warning lamp
display if the seat belt is not fastened or
is unfastened. Seat belt unfastened warning lamp
This warning lamp comes on, ei-
ther on the instrument panel or on
the seat belt and passenger’s front
airbag warning lamp display, when
one or more rear passengers unfasten their
seat belt.
From approximately 12 mph (20 km/h), this
w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s f o r t w o m i n u t e s a c c o m -
panied by an audible signal of increasing vol-
ume. Once these two minutes have elapsed,
this warning lamp remains on until the one or
more rear passengers fasten their seat belt.
Seat belt unfastened warning lamp
display
When the ignition is switched on, the corre-
sponding warning lamps 4 , 5 and 6 come
o n i n r e d f o r a p p r o x i m a t e l y 3 0 s e c o n d s , i f
the seat belt is not fastened.
When the engine is running or the vehi-
cle is moving, the corresponding warning
lamp 4 , 5 or 6 comes on in red, accompa-
nied by an audible signal and a message
on the multifunction screen, if a rear pas-
senger has unfastened their seat belt.

The driver must ensure that passen-
gers use the seat belts correctly and
that they are all restrained securely
before setting off.
Wherever you are seated in the ve-
hicle, always fasten your seat belt,
even for short journeys.
Do not invert the seat belt buckles as
t h e y w i l l n o t f u l fi l t h e i r r o l e f u l l y .
T h e s e a t b e l t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n i n -
ertia reel permitting automatic adjust-
ment of the length of the strap to your
size. The seat belt is stored automat-
ically when not in use.
Before and after use, ensure that the
seat belt is reeled in correctly.
The lower part of the strap must be
positioned as low as possible on the
pelvis.
The upper part must be positioned in
the hollow of the shoulder.
T h e i n e r t i a r e e l s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n a u -
tomatic locking device which comes
into operation in the event of a colli-
sion, emergency braking or if the ve-
hicle rolls over. You can release the
d e v i c e b y p u l l i n g fi r m l y o n t h e s t r a p
and releasing it so that it re-winds
slightly. In order to be effective, a seat belt
must:
- be tightened as close to the body
as possible,
- be pulled in front of you with a smooth movement, checking that
it does not twist,
-
be used to restrain only one person,
- not bear any trace of cuts or fra- ying,
- n o t b e c o n v e r t e d o r m o d i fi e d t o avoid affecting its performance.
In accordance with current safety
regulations, all repairs and checks
must be carried out by a CITROËN
dealer who guarantees that the work
is carried out correctly.
Have your seat belts checked regu-
larly by a CITROËN dealer and par-
ticularly if the straps show signs of
damage.
Clean the seat belt straps with soapy
water or a textile cleaning product,
sold by CITROËN dealers.
After folding or moving a seat or rear
bench seat, ensure that the seat belt
is positioned and reeled in correctly. Recommendations for children
Use a suitable child seat if the passen-
ger is less than 12 years old or shorter
than one and a half metres.
Never use the same seat belt to secure
more than one person.
Never allow a child to travel on your lap.
In the event of an impact
Depending on the nature and se-
riousness of the impacts , the pre-
tensioning device may be triggered
before and independently of the air-
bags. Triggering of the pre-tensioners
is accompanied by a slight discharge
of harmless smoke and a noise, due
to the activation of the pyrotechnic
cartridge incorporated in the system.
In all cases, the airbag warning lamp
comes on.
Following an impact, have the seat
belts system checked, and if neces-
sary replaced, by a CITROËN dealer.
