CHILD SAFETY
ADVICE ON CHILD SEATS
The incorrect installation of a child
s e a t i n a v e h i c l e c o m p r o m i s e s t h e
c h i l d ' s p r o t e c t i o n i n t h e e v e n t o f a n
accident.
R e m e m b e r t o f a s t e n t h e s e a t b e l t s o r
the child seat harnesses keeping the
s l a c k r e l a t i v e t o t h e c h i l d ' s b o d y t o a
m i n i m u m , e v e n f o r s h o r t j o u r n e y s .
When installing a child seat using the
seat belt, ensure that the seat belt is
tightened correctly on the child seat
a n d t h a t i t s e c u r e s t h e c h i l d s e a t fi r m l y
on the seat of your vehicle.
F o r o p t i m u m i n s t a l l a t i o n o f t h e " f o r -
wards-facing" child seat, ensure that
the back of the child seat is in contact
w i t h t h e b a c k o f t h e v e h i c l e ' s s e a t
and that the head restraint does not
c a u s e a n y d i s c o m f o r t .
I f t h e h e a d r e s t r a i n t h a s t o b e r e m o v e d ,
ensure that it is stored or attached se-
c u r e l y t o p r e v e n t i t f r o m b e i n g t h r o w n
around the vehicle in the event of
sharp braking. As a safety precaution, do not leave:
- o n e o r m o r e c h i l d r e n a l o n e a n d
unsupervised in a vehicle,
- a c h i l d o r a n a n i m a l i n a v e h i c l e w h i c h i s e x p o s e d t o t h e s u n , w i t h
the windows closed,
- the keys within reach of children inside the vehicle.
To prevent accidental opening of the
doors and rear windows, use the
"Child lock".
Take care not to open the rear windows
b y m o r e t h a n o n e t h i r d .
T o p r o t e c t y o u n g c h i l d r e n f r o m t h e
r a y s o f t h e s u n , fi t s i d e b l i n d s o n t h e
rear windows.
C h i l d r e n u n d e r t h e a g e o f 1 0 m u s t
not travel in the "forwards-facing"
position on the front passenger seat,
unless the rear seats are already oc-
cupied by other children, cannot be
used or are absent.
Deactivate the passenger airbag
when a "rearwards-facing" child seat
is installed on the front seat.
O t h e r w i s e , t h e c h i l d w o u l d r i s k b e i n g
seriously injured or killed if the airbag
w e r e t o i n fl a t e .
Installing a booster seat
T h e c h e s t p a r t o f t h e s e a t b e l t m u s t
b e p o s i t i o n e d o n t h e c h i l d ' s s h o u l d e r
without touching the neck.
Ensure that the lap part of the seat
b e l t p a s s e s c o r r e c t l y o v e r t h e c h i l d ' s
thighs.

b o o s t e r s e a t w h i c h h a s a b a c k , fi t t e d
with a seat belt guide at shoulder level.

"ISOFIX" MOUNTINGS
Your vehicle has been approved in accor-
dance with the new ISOFIX regulation .
T h e s e a t s , r e p r e s e n t e d b e l o w , a r e fi t t e d
w i t h r e g u l a t i o n I S O F I X m o u n t i n g s : These are three rings for each seat:
- two rings
A , located between the
vehicle seat back and cushion, indi-
cated by a label, T h i s I S O F I X m o u n t i n g s y s t e m g u a r a n -
t e e s y o u f a s t , r e l i a b l e a n d s a f e fi t t i n g o f
the child seat in your vehicle.
The
ISOFIX child seats a r e fi t t e d w i t h
two locks which are secured easily on
the two rings A .
S o m e a l s o h a v e a n upper strap which
is attached to ring B .
To attach this strap, raise the vehicle
s e a t ' s h e a d r e s t r a i n t t h e n p a s s t h e h o o k
b e t w e e n i t s r o d s . T h e n fi x t h e h o o k o n
ring B and tighten the upper strap.
- a ring B , behind the seat, referred to
as the TOP TETHER f o r fi x i n g t h e
upper strap. The incorrect installation of a
c h i l d s e a t i n a v e h i c l e c o m p r o -
m i s e s t h e c h i l d ' s p r o t e c t i o n i n
the event of an accident.

MANUAL CHILD LOCK
M e c h a n i c a l s y s t e m t o p r e v e n t o p e n i n g
of the rear door using its interior control.
The control is located on the edge of
each rear door.
Locking
Turn the red control one quarter of
a turn to the right using the ignition
key.
Unlocking
Turn the red control one quarter of
a turn to the left using the ignition
key.

of the rear doors using their interior controls
and use of the rear electric windows * .
The control is located:
- e i t h e r o n t h e d a s h b o a r d , d r i v e r ' s side, on versions without rear elec-

- o r o n t h e d r i v e r ' s d o o r , w i t h t h e e l e c - t r i c w i n d o w c o n t r o l s , o n v e r s i o n s fi t t e d
with rear electric windows.
Activation
Press button A .
T h e i n d i c a t o r l a m p o n b u t t o n A c o m e s
o n , a c c o m p a n i e d b y a m e s s a g e o n t h e
m u l t i f u n c t i o n s c r e e n .
T h i s i n d i c a t o r l a m p r e m a i n s o n u n t i l t h e
child lock is deactivated. Deactivation
Press button A again.
T h e i n d i c a t o r l a m p o n b u t t o n A switches
o f f , a c c o m p a n i e d b y a m e s s a g e o n t h e
m u l t i f u n c t i o n s c r e e n .
T h i s i n d i c a t o r l a m p r e m a i n s o f f u n t i l t h e
child lock is activated.
T h i s s y s t e m i s i n d e p e n d e n t a n d
i n n o c i r c u m s t a n c e s d o e s i t t a k e
the place of the central locking
control.
Check the status of the child lock
e a c h t i m e y o u s w i t c h o n t h e i g n i -

A l w a y s r e m o v e t h e k e y f r o m t h e
ignition when leaving the vehicle,
e v e n f o r a s h o r t t i m e .

SYSTEMS

Anti-lock braking system
and electronic brake force
distribution

o r s l i p p e r y s u r f a c e s .
Activation
The anti-lock braking system comes
i n t o o p e r a t i o n a u t o m a t i c a l l y w h e n t h e r e
is a risk of wheel lock.
N o r m a l o p e r a t i o n o f t h e A B S m a y m a k e
itself felt by slight vibration of the brake
p e d a l . When braking in an emergency,
p r e s s v e r y fi r m l y w i t h o u t r e l e a s -
i n g t h e p r e s s u r e . Operating fault
In either case, contact a CITROËN dealer.
I f t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p c o m e s o n ,
a c c o m p a n i e d b y a n a u d i b l e s i g -
nal and a message on the mul-
tifunction screen, it indicates a
malfunction of the anti-lock braking sys-
tem which could result in loss of control
of the vehicle when braking.
I f t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p c o m e s o n ,
together with the STOP and
ABS w a r n i n g l a m p s , a c c o m p a -
nied by an audible signal and a
message on the multifunction screen, it
indicates a malfunction of the electron-
ic brake force distribution which could
result in loss of control of the vehicle
when braking.
You MUST stop as soon as it is safe
to do so.
W h e n r e p l a c i n g w h e e l s ( t y r e s
and rims), ensure that they
conform to the manufacturer's
recommendations. Emergency braking assistance
System which, in an emergency, ena-
b l e s y o u t o o b t a i n t h e o p t i m u m b r a k i n g
p r e s s u r e m o r e q u i c k l y , t h u s r e d u c i n g
t h e s t o p p i n g d i s t a n c e .
Activation
I t i s t r i g g e r e d b y t h e s p e e d a t w h i c h t h e
b r a k e p e d a l i s p r e s s e d .
The effect of this is a reduction in the
r e s i s t a n c e o f t h e p e d a l a n d a n i n c r e a s e
i n b r a k i n g e f fi c i e n c y .
When braking in an emergency,
p r e s s fi r m l y w i t h o u t r e l e a s i n g
t h e p r e s s u r e .

T h e d r i v e r m u s t e n s u r e t h a t p a s s e n -
gers use the seat belts correctly and
that they are all restrained securely
before setting off.
Wherever you are seated in the ve-
hicle, always fasten your seat belt,
even for short journeys.
Do not invert the seat belt buckles as
t h e y w i l l n o t f u l fi l t h e i r r o l e f u l l y .
T h e s e a t b e l t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n i n e r t i a
r e e l p e r m i t t i n g a u t o m a t i c a d j u s t m e n t
o f t h e l e n g t h o f t h e s t r a p t o y o u r s i z e .
The seat belt is stored automatically
when not in use.
Before and after use, ensure that the
seat belt is reeled in correctly.
T h e l o w e r p a r t o f t h e s t r a p m u s t b e
p o s i t i o n e d a s l o w a s p o s s i b l e o n t h e
p e l v i s .
T h e u p p e r p a r t m u s t b e p o s i t i o n e d i n
the hollow of the shoulder.
T h e i n e r t i a r e e l s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n a u -
tomatic locking device which comes
i n t o o p e r a t i o n i n t h e e v e n t o f a c o l l i -
sion, emergency braking or if the ve-
hicle rolls over. You can release the
d e v i c e b y p u l l i n g r a p i d l y o n t h e s t r a p
and releasing it. Recommendations for
children
U s e a s u i t a b l e c h i l d s e a t i f t h e p a s -
s e n g e r i s l e s s t h a n 1 2 y e a r s o l d o r
shorter than one and a half metres.
Never use the same seat belt to se-
c u r e m o r e t h a n o n e p e r s o n .
N e v e r a l l o w a c h i l d t o t r a v e l o n y o u r l a p .
In order to be effective, a seat belt:
- must be tightened as close to the
b o d y a s p o s s i b l e ,
- m u s t r e s t r a i n o n e p e r s o n o f a d u l t s i z e o n l y ,
- must not bear any trace of cuts or fraying,
- m u s t b e p u l l e d i n f r o n t o f y o u w i t h a smooth movement, checking
that it does not twist,
- m u s t n o t b e a l t e r e d o r m o d i fi e d t o a v o i d a l t e r i n g i t s p e r f o r m a n c e .
In accordance with current safety reg-
u l a t i o n s , a l l r e p a i r s a n d c h e c k s m u s t
be carried out by a CITROËN dealer
who guarantees that the work is car-
ried out correctly.
Have your seat belts checked regu-
l a r l y b y a C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r a n d p a r -
t i c u l a r l y i f t h e s t r a p s s h o w s i g n s o f
damage.

After folding or moving a seat or rear
bench seat, ensure that the seat belt
i s p o s i t i o n e d a n d r e e l e d i n c o r r e c t l y .
Depending on the nature and se-
riousness of the impacts , t h e p r e -
tensioning device may be triggered
b e f o r e a n d i n d e p e n d e n t l y o f t h e a i r -
b a g s . T r i g g e r i n g o f t h e p r e - t e n s i o n e r s
i s a c c o m p a n i e d b y a s l i g h t d i s c h a r g e
of harmless smoke and a noise, due
t o t h e a c t i v a t i o n o f t h e p y r o t e c h n i c
c a r t r i d g e i n c o r p o r a t e d i n t h e s y s t e m .
I n a l l c a s e s , t h e a i r b a g w a r n i n g l a m p
comes on.

DRIVING
Manual operation
Select position M for sequential
changing of the four gears.
Push the lever towards the + sign to
change up a gear.
Pull the lever towards the - sign to
change down a gear.
It is only possible to change from one
gear to another if the vehicle speed and
engine speed permit; otherwise, the
g e a r b o x w i l l o p e r a t e t e m p o r a r i l y i n a u t o -
matic mode.
D disappears and the gears
engaged appear in succession
on the instrument panel.
In the event of the engine la-
bouring or over-revving, the
g e a r s e l e c t e d fl a s h e s f o r a f e w s e c -
onds, then the actual gear engaged is
displayed.
It is possible to change from position D
( a u t o m a t i c ) t o p o s i t i o n M ( m a n u a l ) a t
any time.
When the vehicle is stationary or moving
v e r y s l o w l y , t h e g e a r b o x s e l e c t s g e a r M1
automatically.
The sport and snow programmes do not
operate in manual mode. Invalid value during manual
operation
This symbol is displayed if a
gear is not engaged correctly
(selector between two posi-
t i o n s ) .
Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine, you
can engage position P or N to place the
g e a r b o x i n n e u t r a l .
In both cases, apply the parking brake
to immobilise the vehicle.
If the lever is not in position P ,
when the driver's door is opened
o r a p p r o x i m a t e l y 4 5 s e c o n d s a f t e r
the ignition is switched off, a mes-
sage appears in the multifunction
screen.
Return the lever to position P ;
the message disappears. There is a risk of damage to the
g e a r b o x :
- if you press the accelerator
and brake pedals at the same
time,
- if you force the movement of the gear lever from the P
position to another position
w h e n t h e b a t t e r y i s fl a t .
Operating fault
When the ignition is on,
the lighting of this warn-
ing lamp, accompanied
by an audible signal and
a message on the multifunction screen,
i n d i c a t e s a g e a r b o x m a l f u n c t i o n .
I n t h i s c a s e , t h e g e a r b o x s w i t c h e s t o
emergency mode and is locked in 3rd
gear. You may feel a substantial knock
when changing from P to R and from N
to R . This will not cause any damage to
t h e g e a r b o x .
D o n o t e x c e e d 6 0 m p h ( 1 0 0 k m / h ) , l o c a l
speed restrictions permitting.

AUDIBLE AND/OR VISUAL
REAR PARKING ASSISTANCE
T h i s s y s t e m c o n s i s t s o f f o u r p r o x i m i t y
sensors, located in the rear bumper. Detection zone
This detects any obstacle (person, vehicle,
t r e e , g a t e , e t c . ) b e h i n d t h e v e h i c l e , e x c e p t
obstacles located just below the bumper. An object, such as a stake, a
roadworks cone or any other simi-
lar object may be detected at the
beginning of the manoeuvre, but
may no longer be detected when
the vehicle comes close to it. The rear parking assistance sys-
tem cannot, in any circumstances,
take the place of the vigilance
and responsibility of the driver.
Activation
The system is activated as soon as re-
verse gear is engaged, accompanied
by an audible signal.
On completion of the manoeuvre, when
y o u e x i t r e v e r s e g e a r , t h e s y s t e m b e -
comes inactive.
T h e p r o x i m i t y i n f o r m a t i o n i s g i v e n b y :
- an audible signal, which becomes
more rapid as the vehicle approaches
the obstacle,
- a graphic on the multifunction screen, with blocks which become
increasingly closer to the vehicle.
When the distance between the rear of
the vehicle and the obstacle is less than
thirty centimetres, the audible signal
becomes continuous and the "Danger"
symbol appears on the multifunction
screen.

Removing the wheel
Parking the vehicle
Immobilise the vehicle where it
d o e s n o t b l o c k t r a f fi c : t h e g r o u n d
must be level, stable and not
slippery.
Apply the parking brake, switch
o f f t h e i g n i t i o n a n d e n g a g e fi r s t
gear * to lock the wheels.
If necessary, place a chock under
the wheel diagonally opposite the
wheel to be changed.
It is imperative that you ensure
that the occupants get out of the
vehicle and wait where they are
safe.
Never go underneath a vehicle
raised using a jack; use an axle
stand. List of operations
Remove the chromed bolt cover from
each of the bolts using the tool 3 .
Fit the security bolt socket 4 on the
wheelbrace 1 to slacken the security
bolt.
Slacken the other bolts using the
wheelbrace 1 only.
Place the jack 2 in contact with one
of the two front A or rear B locations
provided on the underbody, which-
ever is closest to the wheel to be
changed.
Extend the jack 2 until its base plate
is in contact with the ground. Ensure
that the centreline of the jack base
plate is directly below the location A
or B used.
Raise the vehicle until there is suf-
fi c i e n t s p a c e b e t w e e n t h e w h e e l a n d
the ground to admit the spare (not
p u n c t u r e d ) w h e e l e a s i l y .
Remove the bolts and store them in
a clean place.
Remove the wheel.
