ACCESS
DOORS
Opening
From outside
After unlocking the vehicle using the
remote control or the key, pull the
door handle. From inside
Pull on the front door control to open
the door; this unlocks the vehicle
completely.
Pull on the rear door control to
open the door; this unlocks the door
concerned only. Closing
When a door is not closed correctly:
-
when the engine is running ,
this warning lamp comes on,
accompanied by a message
on the multifunction screen
for a few seconds,
- when the vehicle is moving (speed
higher than 6 mph (10 km/h)), this
warning lamp comes on, accompa-
nied by an audible signal and a mes-
sage on the multifunction screen for
a few seconds.

Manual centralised control
System which provides full manual
locking or unlocking of the doors from
the inside.
Locking
Press button A to lock the vehicle.
The red indicator lamp on the button
comes on.
If one of the doors is open, cen-
tral locking from the inside does
not take place.
Unlocking
Press button A again to unlock the
vehicle.
The red indicator lamp on the button
switches off. If the vehicle is locked from the
outside, the red indicator lamp
fl a s h e s a n d b u t t o n
A is inactive.
In this case, use the remote
control or the key to unlock
the vehicle.
Automatic centralised control
System which provides full automatic
locking or unlocking of the doors and
the boot while driving.
You can activate or deactivate this function.
Locking
When the speed exceeds 6 mph
(10 km/h), the doors and the boot lock
automatically. If one of the doors is open, the
automatic central locking does
not take place.
If the boot is open, the automatic
central locking of the doors is ac-
tive.
Unlocking
Above 6 mph (10 km/h), press but-
ton A to unlock the doors and the
boot temporarily. Activation
Press button A for more than
two seconds.

doors mechanically in the event of a
malfunction of the battery or of the cen-
tral locking.
Locking the driver's door
Insert the key in the lock, then turn it
to the right.
Unlocking the driver's door
Insert the key in the lock, then turn it
to the left.
Locking the front and rear
passenger doors
Insert the key in the lock, located on
the edge of the door, then turn it one
eighth of a turn .
Unlocking the front and rear
passenger doors
Pull the interior door opening control.
BOOT
Opening

Lower the tailgate using the interior
grab handle.

the corresponding switch switches
on the reading lamp concerned in
permanent lighting mode.
Following a second press, it comes on:
-
when the vehicle is unlocked,
- when the key is removed from
the ignition,
- when a door is opened,
- when the remote control locking
button is pressed, in order to
locate your vehicle. In permanent lighting mode, dif-
ferent lighting times are available:
- with the ignition off, approxi-
mately ten minutes,
- in energy economy mode, ap- proximately thirty seconds,
- with the engine running, un- limited.
Version with Zenith windscreen In this position, the courtesy
lamp comes on gradually:
- when the vehicle is unlocked,
- when the key is removed from the ignition,
- when a door is opened,
- when the remote control locking but- ton is activated, in order to locate your
vehicle.
It switches off gradually:
- when the vehicle is locked,
- when the ignition is switched on,
- 30 seconds after the last door is closed.
Permanently off.
Permanent lighting.
It switches off gradually:
- when the vehicle is locked,
- when the ignition is switched on,
- 30 seconds after the last door is closed.
To switch off the rear courtesy lamp,
place it in the "permanently off" position.

CHILD SAFETY
ADVICE ON CHILD SEATS
The incorrect installation of a child
s e a t i n a v e h i c l e c o m p r o m i s e s t h e
c h i l d ' s p r o t e c t i o n i n t h e e v e n t o f a n
accident.
R e m e m b e r t o f a s t e n t h e s e a t b e l t s o r
the child seat harnesses keeping the
s l a c k r e l a t i v e t o t h e c h i l d ' s b o d y t o a
m i n i m u m , e v e n f o r s h o r t j o u r n e y s .
When installing a child seat using the
seat belt, ensure that the seat belt is
tightened correctly on the child seat
a n d t h a t i t s e c u r e s t h e c h i l d s e a t fi r m l y
on the seat of your vehicle.
F o r o p t i m u m i n s t a l l a t i o n o f t h e " f o r -
wards-facing" child seat, ensure that
the back of the child seat is in contact
w i t h t h e b a c k o f t h e v e h i c l e ' s s e a t
and that the head restraint does not
c a u s e a n y d i s c o m f o r t .
I f t h e h e a d r e s t r a i n t h a s t o b e r e m o v e d ,
ensure that it is stored or attached se-
c u r e l y t o p r e v e n t i t f r o m b e i n g t h r o w n
around the vehicle in the event of
sharp braking. As a safety precaution, do not leave:
- o n e o r m o r e c h i l d r e n a l o n e a n d
unsupervised in a vehicle,
- a c h i l d o r a n a n i m a l i n a v e h i c l e w h i c h i s e x p o s e d t o t h e s u n , w i t h
the windows closed,
- the keys within reach of children inside the vehicle.
To prevent accidental opening of the
doors and rear windows, use the
"Child lock".
Take care not to open the rear windows
b y m o r e t h a n o n e t h i r d .
T o p r o t e c t y o u n g c h i l d r e n f r o m t h e
r a y s o f t h e s u n , fi t s i d e b l i n d s o n t h e
rear windows.
C h i l d r e n u n d e r t h e a g e o f 1 0 m u s t
not travel in the "forwards-facing"
position on the front passenger seat,
unless the rear seats are already oc-
cupied by other children, cannot be
used or are absent.
Deactivate the passenger airbag
when a "rearwards-facing" child seat
is installed on the front seat.
O t h e r w i s e , t h e c h i l d w o u l d r i s k b e i n g
seriously injured or killed if the airbag
w e r e t o i n fl a t e .
Installing a booster seat
T h e c h e s t p a r t o f t h e s e a t b e l t m u s t
b e p o s i t i o n e d o n t h e c h i l d ' s s h o u l d e r
without touching the neck.
Ensure that the lap part of the seat
b e l t p a s s e s c o r r e c t l y o v e r t h e c h i l d ' s
thighs.

MANUAL CHILD LOCK
M e c h a n i c a l s y s t e m t o p r e v e n t o p e n i n g
of the rear door using its interior control.
The control is located on the edge of
each rear door.
Locking
Turn the red control one quarter of
a turn to the right using the ignition
key.
Unlocking
Turn the red control one quarter of
a turn to the left using the ignition
key.

of the rear doors using their interior controls
and use of the rear electric windows * .
The control is located:
- e i t h e r o n t h e d a s h b o a r d , d r i v e r ' s side, on versions without rear elec-

- o r o n t h e d r i v e r ' s d o o r , w i t h t h e e l e c - t r i c w i n d o w c o n t r o l s , o n v e r s i o n s fi t t e d
with rear electric windows.
Activation
Press button A .

T h i s i n d i c a t o r l a m p r e m a i n s o n u n t i l t h e
child lock is deactivated. Deactivation
Press button A again.
T h e i n d i c a t o r l a m p o n b u t t o n A switches
o f f , a c c o m p a n i e d b y a m e s s a g e o n t h e
m u l t i f u n c t i o n s c r e e n .
T h i s i n d i c a t o r l a m p r e m a i n s o f f u n t i l t h e
child lock is activated.
T h i s s y s t e m i s i n d e p e n d e n t a n d
i n n o c i r c u m s t a n c e s d o e s i t t a k e
the place of the central locking
control.
Check the status of the child lock
e a c h t i m e y o u s w i t c h o n t h e i g n i -
tion.
A l w a y s r e m o v e t h e k e y f r o m t h e
ignition when leaving the vehicle,
e v e n f o r a s h o r t t i m e .
I n t h e e v e n t o f a s e r i o u s i m p a c t ,
the electric child lock is deacti-
v a t e d a u t o m a t i c a l l y t o p e r m i t t h e
e x i t o f t h e r e a r p a s s e n g e r s .

DRIVING
Manual operation
Select position M for sequential
changing of the four gears.
Push the lever towards the + sign to
change up a gear.
Pull the lever towards the - sign to
change down a gear.
It is only possible to change from one
gear to another if the vehicle speed and
engine speed permit; otherwise, the
g e a r b o x w i l l o p e r a t e t e m p o r a r i l y i n a u t o -
matic mode.
D disappears and the gears
engaged appear in succession
on the instrument panel.
In the event of the engine la-
bouring or over-revving, the
g e a r s e l e c t e d fl a s h e s f o r a f e w s e c -
onds, then the actual gear engaged is
displayed.
It is possible to change from position D
( a u t o m a t i c ) t o p o s i t i o n M ( m a n u a l ) a t
any time.
When the vehicle is stationary or moving
v e r y s l o w l y , t h e g e a r b o x s e l e c t s g e a r M1
automatically.
The sport and snow programmes do not
operate in manual mode. Invalid value during manual
operation
This symbol is displayed if a
gear is not engaged correctly
(selector between two posi-
t i o n s ) .
Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine, you
can engage position P or N to place the
g e a r b o x i n n e u t r a l .
In both cases, apply the parking brake
to immobilise the vehicle.
If the lever is not in position P ,
when the driver's door is opened
o r a p p r o x i m a t e l y 4 5 s e c o n d s a f t e r
the ignition is switched off, a mes-
sage appears in the multifunction
screen.
Return the lever to position P ;
the message disappears. There is a risk of damage to the
g e a r b o x :
- if you press the accelerator
and brake pedals at the same
time,
- if you force the movement of the gear lever from the P
position to another position
w h e n t h e b a t t e r y i s fl a t .
Operating fault
When the ignition is on,
the lighting of this warn-
ing lamp, accompanied
by an audible signal and
a message on the multifunction screen,
i n d i c a t e s a g e a r b o x m a l f u n c t i o n .
I n t h i s c a s e , t h e g e a r b o x s w i t c h e s t o
emergency mode and is locked in 3rd
gear. You may feel a substantial knock
when changing from P to R and from N
to R . This will not cause any damage to
t h e g e a r b o x .
D o n o t e x c e e d 6 0 m p h ( 1 0 0 k m / h ) , l o c a l
speed restrictions permitting.
