AirbagsDisarming
The passenger’s front air bag alone
can be disarmed: 4 With the ignition switched off ,
insert the key into the passenger
air bag disarming switch,
4 turn it to the "OFF" position,
4 then remove the key keeping the
slot in this position.
Front air bags
The front air bags are incorporated in the
centre of the steering wheel for the driver
and in the fascia for the front passenger.
Front air bag fault
If this warning light comes on,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the
display, consult a PEUGEOT
dealer to have the system
checked.
Reactivation
In the
"OFF" position, the passenger
air bag will not be triggered in the
event of an impact.
As soon as the child seat is removed,
turn the air bag slot to the "ON"
position to re-activate the air bag
and thus ensure the safety of your
passenger in the event of an impact. To ensure the safety of your
child, it is essential to disarm the
passenger air bag when you install
a rear-facing child seat on the front
passenger seat. Otherwise, the child
would risk being killed or seriously
i n j u r e d i f t h e a i r b a g w e r e t o i n l a t e .
The air bag warning light
on the instrument panel is
lit throughout the period of
disarming. If the two air bag warning lights
are lit continuously, do not install
a rear-facing child seat. Consult a
PEUGEOT dealer.
Activation
They are deployed simultaneously,
unless the passenger’s front air bag
has been disarmed, in the event of a
serious front impact applied to all or
part of the front impact zone
A in the
longitudinal centreline of the vehicle
on a horizontal plane directed from the
front towards the rear of the vehicle.
T h e f r o n t a i r b a g i n l a t e s b e t w e e n
the front occupant of the vehicle and
the fascia to cushion his forward
movement.

The air bags have been designed to
maximise the safety of the occupants
(with the exception of the centre seats of
rows 2 and 3) in the event of a serious
collision; they work in conjunction with
the force limiting seat belts.
In the event of a serious collision, the
electronic detectors record and analyse
the front and side impacts suffered in
the impact detection zones:
- in the event of a serious impact, the a i r b a g s i n l a t e i n s t a n t l y a n d p r o t e c t
the occupants of the vehicle.
Immediately after the impact, the air
b a g s d e l a t e r a p i d l y , s o t h a t t h e y d o n o t
hinder the visibility of the occupants
nor their possible exit from the vehicle. - in the event of a minor or rear
impact and in certain roll-over
conditions, the air bags will not
be deployed; the seat belt alone
i s s u f i c i e n t t o p r o v i d e m a x i m u m
protection in these situations.
The seriousness of the collision
depends on the nature of the obstacle
and the speed of the vehicle at the
moment of impact. Air bags only operate when the
ignition is switched on.
This equipment only operates once.
If a second impact occurs (during the
same or a subsequent accident), the
air bag will not operate.
The triggering of an air bag or air bags
is accompanied by a slight discharge
of harmless smoke and a noise, due
to the activation of the pyrotechnic
cartridge incorporated in the system.
This smoke is not harmful, but
sensitive individuals may experience
some irritation.
The noise of the detonation may result
in a slight loss of hearing for a short
time.
AIR BAGS
It is imperative that the passenger
air bag is disarmed if a child seat
is installed facing rearwards. Refer
to the "Children on board" section of
chapter 5.

- Remove the cap and attach it to the
c l i p l o c a t e d o n t h e i n s i d e o f t h e l a p .
FILLING THE FUEL TANK
W h e n t h e f u e l i l l e r l a p i s o p e n , a
system limits the opening of the
rear left sliding side door.
The key cannot be removed from the
c a p ’ s l o c k u n t i l t h e c a p i s r e i t t e d o n
the tank.
FUEL CIRCUIT DISARMED
In a serious collision, a mechanism
automatically prevents fuel from
reaching the engine.
T h e l a s h i n g o f t h i s w a r n i n g
light is accompanied by a
message on the display.
When the tank’s minimum
level is reached, this warning
light comes on, accompanied
by the message "Fuel
level low" on the display.
You have enough fuel left to cover
approximately 30 miles (50 km) ,
depending on driving conditions and
the engine.
I f t h e w a r n i n g l i g h t l a s h e s , t h i s
indicates a fuel gauge malfunction.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
DIESEL REPRIMING PUMP
If you should run out of fuel, it is
necessary to re-prime the circuit:
- i l l t h e f u e l t a n k w i t h a t l e a s t i v e litres of diesel,
- squeeze and release the manual re-priming pump, under the bonnet
under the protective cover, until fuel
appears in the transparent pipe,
- operate the starter until the engine starts.
A l a b e l o n t h e i n s i d e o f t h e l a p
indicates which type of fuel to use.
I f y o u i l l y o u r t a n k , d o n o t c o n t i n u e
after the third cut-off of the pump
nozzle. This could result in vehicle
malfunctions.
The capacity of the tank is
approximately 18 gallons (
80 litres).
- A f t e r i l l i n g t h e t a n k , l o c k t h e c a p
a n d c l o s e t h e l a p . Check that there is no odour or
leakage of fuel outside the vehicle and
re-establish the fuel supply:
F
switch off the ignition
(STOP position).
F remove the key.
F put the key back in the ignition.
F switch on the ignition and start.

Cooling system
O n l y u s e t h e l u i d r e c o m m e n d e d b y t h e
manufacturer.
Otherwise, you risk seriously damaging
your engine.
When the engine is warm, the
temperature of the coolant is controlled
by the engine fan. As this fan can
operate with the ignition key removed
and because the cooling system is
pressurised, wait for at least one hour
after the engine has stopped before
carrying out any work.
Slacken the cap by 1/4 of a turn to
release the pressure to prevent any
risk of scalding. When the pressure
has dropped, remove the cap and top
up the level with coolant.
I f l u i d h a s t o b e a d d e d f r e q u e n t l y ,
this indicates a failure which must be
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer as
soon as possible.Power steering fluid level
The vehicle must be parked on level
ground with the engine cold. Unscrew
the cap integrated with the gauge and
check the level which must be between
the MIN and MAX marks.
During regeneration of the particle
e m i s s i o n i l t e r , r e l a y n o i s e m a y b e
heard under the fascia.
If the message is still displayed and
the service warning light remains on,
contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Diesel additive level (Diesel with
particle emission filter) The minimum level of this
additive is indicated by
lighting of the service warning
light, accompanied by an
audible signal and a message
on the display.
When this occurs with the engine running,
this is due to the start of saturation of
t h e p a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n i l t e r ( e x c e p t i o n a l l y
prolonged urban driving conditions: low
s p e e d , l o n g t r a f i c j a m s , . . . ) .
I n o r d e r t o r e g e n e r a t e t h e i l t e r , y o u
are advised to drive at a speed of
more than 40 mph (60 km/h) as soon
a s p o s s i b l e , w h e n t r a f i c c o n d i t i o n s
p e r m i t , f o r a t l e a s t i v e m i n u t e s ( u n t i l
the message disappears and the
service warning light is switched off).
Topping up
The level must be between the MIN
and MAX marks on the expansion
b o t t l e . I f m o r e t h a n 1 l i t r e o f l u i d i s
required to top up the level, have
the system checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer. Windscreen wash and headlamp
wash level
For best quality cleaning and for your
safety, we would advise that you use
products of the PEUGEOT Universal
range.
To avoid ice forming, do not use water.
Topping up
It is imperative that this additive is
topped up by a PEUGEOT dealer
without delay.
Used oil
Avoid prolonged contact of used oil
with the skin.

Do not dispose of used oil, brake
l u i d o r c o o l a n t i n t o d r a i n s o r o n t o
the ground but into the containers
dedicated to this use at PEUGEOT
dealerships.

Battery
ECONOMY MODE FUNCTION
After the engine has stopped, with
the key in the ignition position, certain
functions (windscreen wiper, electric
windows, courtesy lights, audio
equipment, etc.) can only be used for a
cumulative duration of thirty minutes, to
prevent discharging the battery.
Once the thirty minutes are over, the
message "Economy mode active"
appears on the display and the active
functions are put on standby.
To resume the use of these functions
immediately, start the engine and let it
run for a few seconds.
A l a t b a t t e r y w i l l p r e v e n t t h e e n g i n e
from starting.
To charge the battery using a
battery charger
- Disconnect the battery,
- Follow the instructions for use
given by the battery charger
manufacturer,
- Reconnect starting with the negative (-) terminal,
- Check that the terminals and connectors are clean. If they are
covered with sulphate (white or
greenish deposit), disconnect them
and clean them.
BATTERY
This is housed in a compartment
l o c a t e d u n d e r n e a t h t h e l o o r , i n f r o n t o f
the driver’s seat.
Before disconnecting the battery, you
must wait for 2 minutes after switching
off the ignition.
Never disconnect a terminal when the
engine is running.
N e v e r c h a r g e a b a t t e r y w i t h o u t i r s t
disconnecting the terminals.
Close the sunroof and the windows
before disconnecting the battery. If
they do not operate normally following
reconnection of the battery, they must
be reinitialised.
Refer to the "Accesses" section
of chapter 2 for the sunroof safety
auto-reverse and to the "Mirrors and
windows" section of chapter 3 for the
electric windows safety auto-reverse. It is advisable to disconnect the
battery if the vehicle is not to be
used for a period of more than
one month.
After every reconnection of the battery,
switch on the ignition and wait 1 minute
before starting to allow the electronic
systems to be initialised. If slight
d i f i c u l t i e s a r e e x p e r i e n c e d a f t e r t h i s ,
please contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
The door open monitoring electrical
system consumes power, remember
to close the sliding doors when your
vehicle is parked for long periods.
To start the vehicle from
another battery
- Connect the red cable to the positive (+) terminals of the
two batteries,
- Connect one end of the green or black cable to the negative (-)
terminal of the slave battery,
- Connect the other end of the green or black cable to an earth point on
the broken down vehicle as far as
possible from the battery,
- Operate the starter, let the engine run,
- Wait for the engine to return to idle, then disconnect the cables.

Changing a wiper blade
CHANGING A WINDSCREEN
WIPER BLADE
- Reconnect the windscreen-wash pipe and push back the wiper arm.
To return the windscreen wipers
to their normal position, switch on
the ignition and operate the wipers
stalk.
Placing the wiper blades in the
special position
- Less than a minute after switching
off the ignition, operate the wipers
stalk to position the wiper blades
along the windscreen uprights
(special position).
Changing a windscreen wiper blade
- Lift the wiper arm, then disconnect the windscreen-wash pipe.
- Unclip the blade and remove it.
- Fit the new blade. Changing the rear wiper blade
- Lift the wiper arm, then unclip the
blade and remove it.
- Fit the new blade and push back the wiper arm.
