CHANGING A WHEEL
Park the vehicle on level, stable
and non-slippery ground.
Apply the handbrake, switch off the
i g n i t i o n a n d e n g a g e fi r s t o r r e v e r s e
gear (position P for the automatic
gearbox).
Weight of the spare wheel: approxi-
mately 20 kg. Never go underneath a vehicle
which is supported only by a
jack.

Recommendations when using the
temporary spare wheel *
Your vehicle may be equipped with a
spare wheel with a different rim from
the standard wheel.
After use, be sure to replace it as soon
as possible.
Observe the following advice to avoid
altering the handling of the vehicle:
-
do not drive above 50 mph (80 km/h), - d o n o t fi t a w h e e l t r i m ,
- drive carefully,
- c h e c k t h e i n fl a t i o n p r e s s u r e i n d i -cated on the label.

After changing the wheel:
- have the tightening of the bolts and the tyre pressure of the spare wheel
checked as soon as possible.
-
have the punctured wheel repaired and
r e fi t i t t o t h e v e h i c l e a s s o o n a s p o s s i b l e .
- have the spare wheel checked and replace it in its boot recess.
Fitting a wheel
Position the wheel.
Tighten the bolts by hand.
Partly tighten the bolts using the
wheelbrace 1 .
Fold the jack 2 and remove it.
Fully tighten the bolts using the
wheelbrace 1 .

Put the tool holder back in position.

Tighten the spare wheel securing
strap to prevent noise and for your
safety in the event of impact.
Reminder: for your safety, always
change a wheel:
- on level, stable, non-slippery ground,
- with the handbrake applied,
- w i t h fi r s t o r r e v e r s e g e a r e n g a g e d (position P for the automatic gear-
box),
- never go underneath a vehicle which is supported only by a jack.
Tools available
The following tools are located in
the holder in the centre of the spare
wheel:
1. Wheelbrace. Permits removal of
the wheel trim and removal of the
wheel securing bolts.
2. Jack with integrated handle.
Permits raising of the vehicle.
3. Removable towing eye. See corre-
sponding section.
4. Bolt cover tool. Permits removal of
the bolt protectors (covers) on al-
loy wheels. Removal
For vehicles with alloy wheels, re-
move the covers using tool 4 .
Loosen the wheel bolts.
Place the jack 2 in one of the four
locations underneath the vehicle
(the nearest one to the wheel to be
changed).
Extend the jack 2 until its base is in
contact with the ground.
Unscrew the bolts and remove the
wheel.
