Have the headlamp setting checked reg-
ularly at a qualified specialist workshop,
e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre. Changing the front bulbs
Replacing dipped-beam headlamps
(vehicles with halogen headlamps) 1
Housing cover for dipped-beam headlamp
2 Bulb holder for dipped-beam headlamp
X Switch off the lights.
X Open the bonnet.
X Turn housing cover 1anti-clockwise and
remove it.
X Turn bulb holder 2anti-clockwise and pull
it out.
X Pull the bulb out of bulb holder 2.X
Insert the new bulb into bulb holder 2.
X Insert bulb holder 2and turn it clockwise.
X Align housing cover 1and turn it clock-
wise.
Replacing the bulb in the main-beam
(vehicles with halogen headlamps) 1

2 Bulb holder for main-beam headlamp
X Switch off the lights.
X Open the bonnet.
X Turn housing cover 1anti-clockwise and
remove it.
X Turn bulb holder 2anti-clockwise and pull
it out.
X Pull the bulb out of bulb holder 2.X
Insert the new bulb into bulb holder 2.
X Insert bulb holder 2and turn clockwise
until it engages.
X Place housing cover 1back on and turn it
clockwise until it engages.
Replacing side/parking lamp bulbs 1
Bulb holder for side/parking lamp
X Switch off the lights.
X Open the bonnet.
X Turn bulb holder 1anti-clockwise and pull
it out.
X Pull the bulb out of bulb holder 1.
X Insert the new bulb into bulb holder 1.
X Insert bulb holder 1and turn it clockwise. Practical advice

X Switch off the lights.
X Remove screws 3.
X Remove cover 2.
X Remove screws 4.
X Remove front foglamp 1from the bumper. 5

i If necessary, reconnect the additional
cable during installation.
X Turn bulb holder 5anti-clockwise and pull
it out.
X Pull the bulb out of bulb holder 5.
X Insert the new bulb into bulb holder 5.
X Insert bulb holder 5and turn clockwise
until it engages.
X Insert front foglamp 1into the bumper.
X Replace screws 4of front foglamp 1.
X Position cover 2.
X Fasten screws 3into cover 2. Replacing the turn signal lamps

Bulb holder for turn signal
X Switch off the lights.
X Open the bonnet.
X Turn bulb holder 1anti-clockwise and pull
it out.
X Turn the bulb anti-clockwise, applying
slight pressure, and remove it from bulb
holder 1.
X Insert the new bulb into bulb holder 1and
turn clockwise while applying slight pres-
sure.
X Insert bulb holder 1and turn clockwise
until it engages. Practical advice

els You must open the side trim panel in the load
compartment before changing the bulbs in

X To open: insert a suitable object, e.g. a
coin, into the slot of release catch 1on
side trim panel 2.
X Turn release catch 190° in the direction
of the arrow and remove side trim panel
2.
X To close: insert side trim panel 2and turn
catch 190° in the opposite direction to
the arrow. Changing the tail lamps X
Switch off the lights.
X Open the luggage compartment.
X Open the side trim panel (Y page 310). Tail lamps

Brake lamp/tail lamp/parking lamp
2 Turn signal lamp
3 Rear fog lamp
4 Reversing lamp
X Turn the corresponding bulb holder anti-
clockwise and remove it.
X Take the bulb out of the bulb holder.
X Insert the new bulb into the bulb holder.
X Insert the bulb holder and turn it clockwise.

X Switch off the lights.
X Open the tailgate.
X Remove screws 1.
X Remove the licence plate lamp.
X Replace the bulb.

Windscreen wiper blades

Risk of accident
The windscreen will not longer be properly
wiped if the wiper blades are worn. This
could prevent you from observing the traffic
conditions, thereby causing an accident.
Replace the wiper blades twice a year, ide-
ally in spring and autumn. G

The wiper arms could start moving and
cause an injury if you leave the windscreen
wipers switched on.
Remove the key from the ignition lock
before replacing the wiper blades.
! Make sure that you touch only the wiper
arm of the windscreen wiper to avoid dam-
aging the windscreen wiper blades. Removing 1
