Seats
Seat heating
The switches for front seat heating are
located on the upper part of the center
console.
The switches for rear seat heating (rear
outer seats) are located on the B-pillars
(
page 113).
Front seat heating
1 Seat heating switch
2 Indicator lamps The red indicator lamps in the switch come
on to show which heating level you have
selected.
Switch on the ignition (page 39).Switching on seat heating
Press switch
1 once.
Three red indicator lamps 2 in the
switch come on.
Continue pressing switch 1 until
desired seat heating level is reached.
Switching off seat heating
Press switch 1 repeatedly until all
indicator lamps 2 in the switch go
out.

switches to level 2 after

Memory function
The memory button and memory position
button are located on each front door.

Switch on the ignition (page 39).

Open the respective door.
Storing positions into memory
Adjust the seats (page 42).
On the driver’s side, additionally adjust
the steering wheel (
page 44) and
exterior rear view mirrors (
page 46)
to the desired positions.
Press memory button 1.
Release memory button 1 and press
memory position button 1, 2 , or 3 with-
in 3 seconds.
All settings are stored to the selected
position.
Recalling positions from memory
Press and hold memory position
button 1, 2 , or 3 until the seat, steering
wheel and exterior rear view mirrors
have fully moved to the stored posi-
tions.
!Do not operate the power seats using
memory button 1 if the seat backrest is in an
excessively reclined position. Doing so could
cause damage to front or rear seats.
Move seat backrest to an upright position first.
iReleasing the memory position button stops
movement to the stored positions immediately.

Memory function
Storing exterior rear view mirror
parking position (Canada only)
For easier parking, you can adjust the
passenger-side exterior rear view mirror so
that you can see the rear wheel and the
road curb as soon as you engage reverse
gearR.
For information on activating the parking
position, see “Activating exterior rear view
mirror parking position (Canada only)”
(
page 178).
The memory button is located on the
driver’s door. The adjustment button and
exterior rear view mirror buttons are
located on the dashboard to the left of the
steering wheel. 1

Press button 3.
The passenger-side exterior rear view
mirror is selected.
Adjust the exterior rear view mirror

Press memory button 4.
Within 3 seconds, press bottom of
adjustment button 1.
The parking position is stored if the
mirror does not move.
iIf the mirror does move, repeat the above
steps. After the setting is stored, you can move
the mirror again.

Lighting
When the engine is running, and you
turn the exterior lamp switch to
positionC, the low beam head-
lamps, the tail and parking lamps, the
license plate lamps and the side mark-
er lamps switch on.

The locator lighting and the night security

Locator lighting lamps in exterior rear
view mirrors
If the vehicle is centrally unlocked in the
darkness, the locator lighting lamps in the
exterior rear view mirrors come on.
If a door is opened, the lamp on the
corresponding side goes out. If no doors
are opened, the lamps will go out:
after a maximum of 40 seconds
immediately, when you switch on the
ignition
iWith the exterior lamp switch in
position M, you cannot switch on the high
beam headlamps.
The high beam flasher is available at all times.
For nighttime driving turn the exterior lamp
switch to position B orU to permit
activation of the high beam headlamps.

Hazard warning flasher
The hazard warning flasher can be
switched on at all times, even with the
SmartKey removed from the starter
switch.
The hazard warning flasher switches on
automatically when an air bag deploys.
The hazard warning flasher switch is
located on the upper part of the center
console.

illumination
Use reset button
1 to adjust the illumina-
tion brightness for the instrument cluster.
To brighten illumination
Turn reset button 1 clockwise until
the desired level of illumination is
reached.
To dim illumination
Turn reset button 1 counterclockwise
until the desired level of illumination is
reached.
Warning!G
No messages will be displayed if either the
instrument cluster or the multifunction
display is inoperative.
As a result, you will not be able to see infor-
mation about your driv ing conditions, such
as speed or outside temperature, warn-
ing/indicator lamps, malfunction/warning
messages or the failure of any systems.
Driving characteristics may be impaired.
If you must continue to drive, do so with
added caution. Contact an authorized
Mercedes-Benz Light Truck Center as soon
as possible.
iThe instrument cluster illumination is
dimmed or brightened automatically to suit
ambient light conditions.
The instrument cluster illu mination will also be
adjusted automatically when you switch on the
vehicle’s exterior lamps.

Good visibility
Good visibility
For information on windshield wipers, see

Headlamp cleaning system
The button is located on the dashboard to
the left of the steering wheel.
1 Headlamp cleaning button
Switch on the ignition (page 39).
Press button 1.
The headlamps are cleaned with a
high-pressure water jet. For information on filling up the washer
reservoir, see “Windshield/rear window
washer system and headlamp cleaning
system” (
page 275).
Rear view mirrors
For more information on setting the rear
view mirrors, see “Mirrors” (
page 46).
Auto-dimming rear view mirrors
The reflection brightness of the exterior
rear view mirrors and the interior rear view
mirror will respond automatically to glare
when
the ignition is switched on
and
incoming light from headlamps falls on
the sensor in the interior rear view
mirror
The exterior rear view mirrors and the
interior rear view mirror will not react if
reverse gear R is engaged
the interior lighting is turned on
iThe headlamps will automatically be
cleaned when you have
switched on the headlamps
and
operated the windshield wipers with
windshield washer fluid fifteen times
When you switch off the ignition, the counter
resets.
Warning!G
The auto-dimming functi on does not react if
incoming light is not aimed directly at
sensors in the interior rear view mirror.
The interior rear view mirror and the exterior
rear view mirrors do not react, for example,
when transporting ca rgo which covers the
rear window.
Light hitting the mirror(s) at certain angles
(incident light) could blind you. As a result,
you may not be able to observe traffic
conditions and could cause an accident.
