■Closing the front doors from outside with the inside lock button set in the locked
position
The door cannot be locked if the “ENGINE START STOP” switch is in ACCES-
SORY or IGNITION ON mode, or the electronic key is left in the vehicle. (How-
ever, depending on the key’s location, the sy stem may not be able to detect it. In
these instances the door lock protection function will not operate properly.)

The doors can also be locked and unlocked with the mechanical key. ( P. 5 2 6 )

CAUTION
■To prevent an accident
Observe the following precautions while driving the vehicle.
Failing to do so may result in a door opening and an occupant falling out, resulting in
death or serious injury.
●Always use a seat belt.
●Always lock all doors.
●Ensure that all doors are properly closed.
●Do not pull the inside handle of the front door while driving.
The doors will open even if it is locked.
●Set the rear door child protector locks when children are seated in the rear seat.

In the event that the trunk lid is left slightly open (not latched properly), the trunk
easy closer will automatically close it to the fully closed position.

When the trunk light switch is set to ON, the trunk light turns on when the trunk is
opened.

on the glow-in-the-dark lever located on the

CAUTION
■While driving
Keep the trunk lid closed.
This not only keeps personal belongings fr om being thrown out, but also prevents
exhaust gases from entering the vehicle.
■When children are in the vehicle
●Never leave children unattended in the vehicle as they may lock themselves in the
vehicle or trunk, which could cause the child to overheat or suffocate, resulting in
death or serious injury.
●Do not allow a child to open or close the trunk lid. Doing so may cause the trunk
lid to operate unexpectedly and part of the child’s body may become caught.
■Tr u n k e a s y c l o s e r
When the trunk lid is not completely closed, the trunk ea sy closer will automatically
close it. Be careful not to catch fingers or anything else in the trunk lid. Failure to do
so may result in serious injury.

Alarm
The system sounds the alarm and flashes lights when forcible entry is
detected.
■Triggering of the alarm
The alarm is triggered in the following situations.
●A locked door or trunk is unlocked or opened in any way other
than using the smart access system with push-button start, wire-
less remote control or mechanical key. (The doors will lock again
automatically.)
● The hood is opened while the vehicle is locked.
■ Setting the alarm system
Close the doors, trunk and
hood, and lock all doors.
The system will be set automati-
cally after 30 seconds.
The indicator light changes from
being on to flashing when the
system is set.
■Deactivating or stopping the alarm
Do one of the following to deactivate or stop the alarm.
●Unlock the doors or trunk.
● Turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch to the ACCESSORY or
IGNITION ON mode. (The alarm will be deactivated or stopped
after a few seconds.)

■Items to check before locking the vehicle
To prevent unintended triggering of the alarm and vehicle theft, make sure of the
following.
●Nobody is in the vehicle.
●The windows and moon roof (if equipped) are closed before the alarm is set.
●No valuables or other personal items are left in the vehicle.
■Tr i g g e r i n g o f t h e a l a r m
The alarm may be triggered in the following situations.
(Stopping the alarm deactivates the alarm system.)
●A person inside the vehicle opens a door, the trunk or hood.
●The 12 volt battery is recharged or replaced when the vehicle is locked.
■When the 12 volt battery is disconnected
Be sure to cancel the alarm system.
If the 12 volt battery is disconnected before canceling the alarm, the system may be
triggered when the battery is reconnected.
■Pa n i c m o d e
When is pushed for longer than about
one second, the headlights/tail lights/emer-
gency flashers will flash, the front and rear
interior lights will come on, and an alarm will
sound for about 60 seconds to deter any
person from trying to break into or damage
your vehicle.
To stop the alarm, push any button on the
wireless remote control.

CAUTION
■Child restraint precautions
●Do not allow the child to lean his/her head or any part of his/her body against the
door or the area of the seat, front pillar or roof side rail from which the side air-
bags or curtain shield airbags deploy even if the child is seated in the child
restraint system. It is dangerous if the side airbags and curtain shield airbags
inflate, and the impact could cause death or serious injury to the child.
●Make sure you have complied with all installation instructions provided by the
child restraint manufacturer and that the sy stem is properly secured. If it is not
secured properly, it may cause death or serious injury to the child in the event of a
sudden stop or accident.
■When the child restraint system is not in use
●Keep the child restraint system properly secure d on the seat even if it is not in use.
Do not store the restraint unsecured in the passenger compartment.
●If it is necessary to detach the child restraint system, remove it from the vehicle or
store it securely in the trunk. This will prevent it from injuring passengers in the
event of a sudden stop or accident.
