Specified Scheduled Procedures
These are the procedures such as
inspections, adjustments and replace- ments that are listed in the mainte- nance charts starting on page 5-4.These procedures must be performed at the intervals shown in the mainte- nance schedule to assure that yourwarranty remains in effect. Although it is strongly recommended that they be performed by the factory-trained ordistributor-trained technicians at your Hyundai dealer, these procedures may be performed at any qualified servicefacility. General Checks
These are the regular checks you should perform when you drive your Hyundai or you fill the fuel tank. A listof these items will be found on page 6-5.
F010A01A-GAT MAINTENANCE INTERVALS Service Requirements To assure that you receive the great- est number of kilometers of satisfyingoperation from your Hyundai, certain maintenance procedures must be performed. Although careful designand engineering have reduced these to a minimum, those that are required are of the utmost importance.It is your responsibility to have thesemaintenance procedures performedto comply with the terms of the war- ranties covering your new Hyundai. The Service Passport supplied withyour new vehicle provides further in- formation about these warranties.

Maintenance Requirements
The maintenance required for your
Hyundai can be divided into threemain areas:
o Specified scheduled procedures
o General checks
o Do-it-yourself maintenance It is suggested that genuine Hyundai
service parts be used for any requiredrepairs or replacements. Other parts ofequivalent quality such as engine oil, engine coolant, manual or auto transaxle oil, brake fluid and so onwhich are not supplied by Hyundai Motor Company or its distributor may be used without affecting your war-ranty coverage but you should always be sure these are equivalent to the quality of the original Hyundai parts.Your Service Passport provides fur- ther information about your warranty coverage.

Do-It-Yourself Maintenance
If you are mechanically inclined, own a few tools that are required and want to take the time to do so, you can inspect and service a number of items. Formore information about doing it your- self, see Section 6. F010F01A-GAT
A Few Tips
Whenever you have your Hyundai ser- viced, keep copies of the service records in your glovebox. This will help ensure that you can document that therequired procedures have been per- formed to keep your warranties in ef- fect. This is especially important whenservice is not performed by an autho- rized Hyundai dealer. F020A01Y-GAT
SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS
Inspection should be performed any time a malfunction is experienced orsuspected. Receipts for all emission control system services should be retained to demonstrate compliancewith conditions of the emissions sys- tem warranty. For severe usage maintenance re-
quirements, see page 5-7 of this sec- tion.

sory you can temporarily get along without (the radio or cigarette light- er, for example). Always rememberto replace the borrowed fuse. CAUTION:
A burned-out fuse indicates thatthere is a problem in the electricalcircuit. If you replace a fuse and it blows as soon as the accessory is turned on, the problem is seriousand should be referred to a Hyun- dai dealer for diagnosis and repair. Never replace a fuse with anythingexcept a fuse with the same or a lower amperage rating. A higher capacity fuse could cause damageand create a fire hazard. NOTE: See page 6-36 for the fuse panel descriptions.

4. Replace the blown fuse by pressing a new fuse of the same rating into place. The fuse should be a snug fit. If it is not, have the fuse clip repairedor replaced by a Hyundai dealer. If you do not have a spare fuse, you may be able to borrow a fuse of thesame or lower rating from an acces-

switches.
2. Open the fuse box and examine each fuse. Remove each fuse by pulling it toward you (a small "fuse puller" tool is contained in the fusebox to simplify this operation).
3. Be sure to check all other fuses
even if you find one that appears tohave burned out.

o If the interior of the car is hot when
you first get in, open the windows for a few minutes to expel the hot air.
o When you are using the air condi-
tioning system, keep all windowsclosed to keep hot air out.
o When moving slowly, as in heavy
traffic, shift to a lower gear. Thisincreases engine speed, which in turn increases the speed of the air conditioning compressor.
o On steep grades, turn the air condi- tioning off to avoid the possibility ofthe engine over-heating.
o During winter months or in periods when the air conditioning is not usedregularly, run the air conditioningonce every month for a few min- utes. This will help circulate the lubricants and keep your system inpeak operating condition. Inside of a vehicle

o Replace the filter every 10,000 miles or once a year. If the car is being driven in severe conditions such as dusty, rough roads, morefrequent pollen filter inspections and changes are required.
o When the air flow rate is suddenly
decreased, it must be checked at aHyundai authorised repairer.

The use of a proprietary stabiliser will assist in achieving an inherently stable outfit but whilst the use of such equip-ment will improve the characteristics of a balanced outfit, it will not compen- sate for a badly loaded and thereforeunstable outfit. The tyres and braking equipment fitted to the trailer or caravan must be main- tained in accordance with the recom- mendations of the manufacturer. Spe-cial attention should be paid to tyres which deteriorate through time and exposure rather than as a result of thedistances towed. The inside walls of the tyres should be inspected along with the outside walls for cracking anddamage. The trailer wheel nut torque must be checked on a regular basis, preferably before each towing ses-sion.

C190E01L C195F02TB-EAT TOWING ATTACHMENTS It is strongly recommended that only an Hyundai Approved towing attach-ment is used to ensure that the loads placed upon the body structure are correctly distributed. The use of a nonapproved attachment will result in the invalidation of the vehicle warranty. Hyundai towing attachments are de-signed and constructed to ensure maximum towing performance and ease of fitment. A range of accesso-ries including electrical kits are avail- able through the Hyundai authorised repairer network. It is of the utmost importance that those areas of the vehicle which aresubjected to greater stress during tow- ing are maintained in accordance with the recommendations given at the endof this book. In addition, the daily oper- ating checks relating to engine oil, transmission oil and tyres must beperformed at each refuelling to ensure maximum reliability and safety.

WARNING:
It is not recommended that the ve- hicle be used for towing until thefirst 1,000 miles of Running In has been completed. All Hyundai Getz models are suited to towing trailersand caravans up to the limits indi- cated on page 2-21. This models fitted with automatic transaxle havea transaxle oil cooler and further transaxle cooling should not be re- quired.
