ZC170E1-E Windscreen Washers & Wipers The windscreen washer bottle should be filled with a solution of water and aproprietary winter screen wash addi- tive. The windscreen wipers should not be used if the blades are frozen to thewindscreen or if they are covered with snow, before this is removed. NOTE: Never allow undiluted screen washer fluid additive to spill upon the paintwork or use engine coolant anti-freeze since damage to the paintwork may result.
o When driving in extreme conditions,the windscreen wiper blades may fail to clear the screen properly due tothe formation of ice upon the blade edge. It will therefore be necessary to periodically remove such ice torestore their efficiency.
o If the power operated door mirrors
become frozen, attempts to adjustthese may damage the mechanism. o The formation of snow or ice build up
inside the wheel arches may inter-fere with the roadwheels or steering mechanism. In such instances, un- usual noises or an increase in steer-ing effort may result. Therefore, en- sure that the wheelarches are checked periodically and any accu-mulated snow or ice removed.
o It is advisable to carry emergency
equipment including, torch, shovel,tow rope, blankets etc., if a journey is to be undertaken into areas of severe road conditions.TRAILER OR VEHICLE TOWING

o Brake fluid & Clutch fluid
Check brake fluid level in the brake
fluid reservoir. The level should be between "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the side of the reservoir. Use onlyhydraulic brake fluid conforming to DOT 3 or DOT 4.

o Rear brake drums and linings/
parking brake
Check the rear brake drums and lin-
ings for scoring, burning, leaking fluid,broken parts, and excessive wear. In- spect the parking brake system in-cluding the parking brake lever and cables. For detailed service proce- dures, refer to the Shop Manual. 6ZF070J1-A
o Brake pads, calipers and ro-
tors
Check the pads for excessive wear,
discs for run out and wear, and cali- pers for fluid leakage.

o Exhaust pipe and silencer
Visually inspect the exhaust pipes,
silencer and hangers for cracks, dete-rioration, or damage. Start the engine and listen carefully for any exhaustgas leakage. Tighten connections or replace parts as necessary.

Check the suspension connections for
looseness or damage. Retighten to the specified torque.

o Automatic Transaxle Fluid
The fluid level should be in the "HOT"range of the dipstick, after the engine and transaxle are at normal operating temperature. Check the automatictransaxle fluid level with the engine running and the transaxle in neutral, with the parking brake properly ap-plied. Use Hyundai Genuine ATF SP- III, DIAMOND ATF SP-III, SK ATF SP-III or other brands approved byHyundai Motor Co., when adding or changing fluid. Refer to the chapter 6.

CHECKING THE CLUTCH FLUID

(Manual Transaxle)To Check the Clutch Fluid
The clutch fluid level in the master cylinder should be checked when performing other under bonnet checks. The system should be checked forleakage at the same time.Ensure that the clutch fluid level isalways between the "MAX" and "MIN" level markings on the fluid reservoir. Fill as required. Fluid loss indicates aleak in the clutch system which should be inspected and repaired immedi- ately.
WARNING:
Brake fluid is hygroscopic and should never be stored in an un- sealed container. The presence ofwater in the braking system will cause vapour locks and increase the possibility of brake fade alongwith promoting corrosion within the braking system. The brake fluid must be changed at the specifiedtime or mileage interval to ensure continued safe operation of the system. Brake fluid will cause rapidand serious damage to paintwork. If accidental spillage occurs, the affected area must be rinsed withwater immediately. Do not allow brake fluid to come into contact with the eyes or to be ingestedand ensure that fluid is safely stored away form the reach of chil- dren.

SG140A1-E Condenser Ensure that the condenser is periodi- cally inspected and that accumula- tions of dirt, dead insects and leaves etc, are removed to ensure that theefficiency of the system is not im- paired.
