HEAD RESTRAINTS
FRONT fig. 26
Head restraints are adjustable in height
and they lock automatically in the required
position.
❒Upward adjustment Raise the head re-
straint until you hear it click in position.
❒Downward adjustment Press button A
and lower the head restraint.
fig. 26F0T0053m
Perform these operations
only when the car is stationary
and the engine is not running.
Remember that the head restraints
should be adjusted to support the
back of your head and not your neck.
Only in this position do they exert
their protective action.
To optimise head restraint protective
action, adjust the backrest upright
and keep your head as close as
possible to the head restraint.
WARNINGREAR HEAD RESTRAINTS
(where provided) fig. 27
Lift the rear head restraints to use them.
To bring the head restraint back to its
non-use position, press buttons Aand
push the head restraint down into the

WARNING
Under no circumstances
should aftermarket opera-
tions involving steering system or
steering column modifications (e.g.:
installation of anti-theft device) be
carried out that could badly affect
performance and safety. This also
causes the warranty to become null
and void and results in vehicle non-
compliance with type-approval re-
quirements.

CARRYING
CHILDREN SAFELY
For optimal protection in the event of a
crash, all passengers must be seated and
wear adequate restraint systems.
This is even more important for children.
This prescription is compulsory in all EC
countries according to EC Directive
2003/20/EC.
A child’s head is larger and heavier in pro-
portion to his/her body and the child’s mu-
scular and bone structures are not fully
developed. For this reason, they require
restraint systems which are different from
those used by adults to protect them in
the event of an accident. The research results in relation to the be-
st protection for children is illustrated in
European standard CEE-R44 which divi-
des the restraint systems into five groups
in addition to making their use compul-
sory:
Group 0 up to 10 kg in weight
Group 0+ up to 13 kg in weight
Group 1 9-18 kg in weight
Group 2 15-25 kg in weight
Group 3 22-36 kg in weight
As it may be noted, the groups overlap
partly and, in fact, in commerce it is pos-
sible to find devices that cover more than
one weight group. All restraint devices must bear the type-
approval data along with the control mark
on a label that must be firmly secured to
the child seat and must never be removed.
Over 1.50 m in height, from the point of
view of restraint systems, children are
considered as adults and have to wear the
standard seat belts.
Lineaccessori Fiat includes child restraint
systems for each weight group. These de-
vices are recommended as they have been
specifically designed for Fiat cars/vehicles.

GROUP 2
Children from 15 to 25 kg may use the
vehicle seat belts directly fig. 9.
The child seat is only needed to position
the child correctly with respect to the
belts so that the diagonal section crosses
the child’s chest and never the neck and is
snug on the hips and not the abdomen.GROUP 3
For children from 22 kg to 36 kg the size
of the child’s chest no longer requires a
support to space the child’s back from the
seat back.
Fig. 10shows proper child seat positio-
ning on the rear seat. Children over 1.50
m in height can wear seat belts like adults.
fig. 9F0T0008mfig. 10F0T0009m
The figures are indicative for
assembly purposes only. Re-
fer to the instructions supplied with
the child seat.
WARNING
Some child restraint systems
for weight groups 0 and 1
have a rear attachment and seat belts
for securing the child. Due to their
weight, they may be dangerous if in-
correctly mounted (e.g. if fastened to
the vehicle seat belts placing a cu-
shion in between). Follow the assem-
bly instructions carefully.

WHEN NEEDING
TO CHANGE A BULB
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
❒Before changing a bulb check the con-
tacts for oxidation.
❒Burnt bulbs must be replaced by oth-
ers of the same type and power.
❒Always check the height of the head-
light beam after changing a bulb.
❒When a bulb is not working, check that
the corresponding fuse is intact before
replacing it: refer to the “If a fuse
blows” paragraph in this section for the
location of fuses.IMPORTANT A slight misting may appear
on the internal surface of the headlight:
this does not indicate a fault. It is a natur-
al event caused by the low temperature
and the degree of humidity in the air. It will
rapidly disappear when the headlights are
switched on. The presence of drops inside
the headlights indicates infiltration of wa-
ter. Go to a Fiat Dealership.
Modifications or repairs to
the electrical system that are
not carried out properly or do not
take the system technical specifica-
tions into account can cause mal-
functions leading to the risk of fire.
WARNING
Halogen bulbs contain pres-
surised gas which may cause
small fragments of glass to be pro-
jected outwards if the bulb is broken.
WARNING
Halogen lamps must be han-
dled holding the metallic part
only. Touching the transpar-
ent part of the bulb with your
fingers may reduce the intensity of the
emitted light and even compromise du-
ration of the lamp. In case of acciden-
tal contact, rub the lamp with a cloth
and spirit and leave to dry.
If possible, we recommend
that you let the Fiat Dealer-
ship replace the bulbs. Prop-
er operation and orientation
of the external lights are essential for
the safety of the running vehicle, and
for avoiding legal sanctions.
