2. Remove and replace the batteries. Avoid touching the
new batteries with your fingers. Skin oils may cause
battery deterioration. If you touch a battery, clean it with
rubbing alcohol.
3. Reposition the access door panel over the battery
opening and snap into place.
General Information

1. A weak battery in the transmitter. The expected life of
the battery is a minimum of three years.
2. Closeness to a radio transmitter such as a radio station
tower, airport transmitter, and some mobile or CB radios.
REMOTE STARTING SYSTEM Ð IF EQUIPPED
This system uses the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) trans-
mitter to start the engine conveniently from outside the
vehicle while still maintaining security. The system has a
targeted range of 328 ft. (100 m).
NOTE:The vehicle must be equipped with an auto-
matic transmission to be equipped with Remote Start.

separate and fold out of the way, as the bags inflate to
their full size. The bags fully inflate in about 50 - 70
milliseconds. This is about half of the time that it takes
to blink your eyes. The bags then quickly deflate while
helping to restrain the driver and front passenger. The
driver's front airbag gas is vented through vent holes
in the sides of the airbag. The passenger's front airbag
gas is vented through vent holes in the sides of the
airbag. In this way, the airbags do not interfere with
your control of the vehicle.
²TheKnee Impact Bolstershelp protect the knees of
the driver and the front passenger, and position every-
one for the best interaction with the front airbag.
²TheSupplemental Side Impact SRS Side Curtain
Airbagsare designed to activate only in certain side
collisions. When the ORC (with side impact option)
detects a collision requiring the side curtain airbag to
inflate, it signals the inflators on the crash side of thevehicle. A quantity of nontoxic gas is generated to
inflate the side curtain airbag. The inflating side cur-
tain airbag pushes the outside edge of the headliner
out of the way and covers the window. The airbag
inflates in about 30 milliseconds (about one quarter of
the time that it takes to blink your eyes) with enough
force to injure you if you are not belted and seated
properly, or if items are positioned in the area where
the side curtain airbag inflates. This especially applies
to children. The side curtain airbag is only about 3-1/2
inches (9 cm) thick when it is inflated.
²TheSupplemental Front-Seat-Mounted Side Airbags
are designed to activate only in certain side collisions.
When the ORC (with side impact option) detects a
collision requiring the front-seat-mounted side airbag
to inflate, it signals the inflators on the crash side of the
vehicle. A quantity of nontoxic gas is generated to
inflate the front-seat-mounted side airbag. The inflat-
ing front-seat-mounted side airbag pushes through the

seam in the seat's trim cover and opens into the space
between the occupant and the door. The airbag inflates
at a very high speed and with enough force to injure
you if you are not belted and seated properly, or if
items are positioned in the area where the front-seat-
mounted side airbag inflates. This especially applies to
children.
The following requirements must be strictly adhered to:
²Do not make any modifications to the front seat
components, assembly, or to the seat cover in any
way.
²Do not use prior or future model year seat covers
not designated for the specific model being re-
paired. Always use the correct seat cover specified
for the vehicle.
²Do not replace the seat cover with an aftermarket
seat cover.
²Do not add a secondary seat cover other than those
approved by DaimlerChrysler/Mopar.t
²At no time should any supplemental restraint sys-
tem (SRS) component or SRS related component or
fastener be modified or replaced with any part
except those which are approved by
DaimlerChrysler/Mopar.t
WARNING!
Unapproved modifications or service procedures to
the front seat assembly, its related components, or
seat cover may inadvertently change the airbag de-
ployment in case of a frontal crash. This could result
in death or serious injury to the driver or front seat
passenger if the vehicle is involved in an accident. A
modified vehicle may not comply with required
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).

WARNING!
Deployed airbags can't protect you in another colli-
sion. Have the airbags replaced by an authorized
dealer as soon as possible.
Enhanced Accident Response System
In the event of an impact that causes airbag deployment,
with the vehicle stopped, and the vehicle communication
network intact, and the power intact, the Enhanced
Accident Response System performs the following func-
tions:
²Cuts off fuel to the engine.
²Flashes hazard lights.
²Turns on the interior lights, which remain on as long as
the battery has power or until the ignition key is
removed.
²Unlocks the doors automatically.
NOTE:The interior lights can only be deactivated if the
key is removed from the ignition switch or the vehicle is
driven.

Automatic Dimming Inside Mirror Ð If Equipped
This mirror automatically adjusts for annoying headlight
glare from vehicles behind you. You can turn the feature
on or off by pressing the button at the base of the mirror.
A light, next to the button, will illuminate to indicate
when the dimming feature is activated.CAUTION!
To avoid damage to the mirror during cleaning, never
spray any cleaning solution directly onto the mirror.
Apply the solution onto a clean cloth and wipe the
mirror clean.
Outside Mirrors
To receive maximum benefit, adjust the outside mirror(s)
to center on the adjacent lane of traffic and a slight
overlap of the view obtained from the inside mirror.
NOTE:The passenger side convex outside mirror will
give a much wider view to the rear, and especially of the
lane next to your vehicle.

which is not a valid USA phone number - the closest

Call Continuation
Call continuation is progression of a phone call on
UConnecttsystem after the vehicle ignition key has been
switched to off. Call continuation functionality available
on the vehicle can be any one of three types:
²After ignition key is switched off, a call can continue
on the UConnecttsystem either until the call ends or
until the vehicle battery condition dictates cessation of
the call on the UConnecttsystem and transfer of the
call to the mobile phone.
²After ignition key is switched to off, a call can continue
on the UConnecttsystem for certain duration, after
which the call is automatically transferred from the
UConnecttsystem to the mobile phone.
²An active call is automatically transferred to the
mobile phone after ignition key is switched to off.
UConnectTSystem Features
Language Selection
To change the language that the UConnecttsystem is
using,
²Press the ªPhoneº button to begin.
²After the9Ready9prompt and the following beep, say
the name of the language you wish to switch to
(English, Espanol, or Francais, if so equipped).
²Continue to follow the system prompts to complete
language selection.
After selecting one of the languages, all prompts and
voice commands will be in that language.
NOTE:After every UConnecttlanguage change opera-
tion, only the language specific 32-name phone book is
usable. The paired phone name is not language specific
and usable across all languages.

Working with Automated Systems
This method is designed to be used in instances where
one generally has to press numbers on the cellular phone
keypad while navigating through an automated tele-
phone system.You can use your UConnecttsystem to access a voice-
mail system or an automated service, such as, paging
service or automated customer service. Some services
require immediate response selection, in some instances,
that may be too quick for use of UConnecttsystem.
When calling a number with your UConnecttsystem
that normally requires you to enter in a touch-tone
sequence on your cellular phone keypad, you can push
the ªVoice Recognitionº button and say the sequence you
wish to enter followed by the word9Send.9For example,
if required to enter your pin number followed with a
pound3746#,youcanpresstheªVoice Recognitionº
button and say93746#Send.9Saying a number, or
sequence of numbers, followed by9Send9is also to be
used to navigate through an automated customer service
center menu structure and to leave a number on a pager.
