or in position P or N (automatic gearbox).

Starting the engine
Do not depress the accelerator pedal.
Operate the starter motor (maximum 10 seconds) until the engine sta rts.

Advice
Vehicles equipped with a Turbo:
T u r b o e q u i p p e d e n g i n e s m u s t b e a l l o w e d t o r e t u r n t o i d l e f o r s e v e r a l s e c o n d s b e f o r e s w i t c h i n g o f f t h e i g n i t i o n .
Failure to do so could cause serious damage to the turbo unit .
Flicking the accelerator pedal as the ignition is turned off can lead to severe damage to the turbo unit.

Lighting rheostat
When the vehicle lamps are on,
press on the button to alter the
b r i g h t n e s s f o r t h e w a r n i n g l a m p s
display, the instrument panel, the
air conditioning panel and the
multifunction screen. When the
lighting reaches the minimum (or
maximum) adjustment, release
the button then press again to
increase it (or decrease it).
As soon as the lighting reaches
the desired intensity, release the
button.
Night driving control
- A i r s t p r e s s o n t h e
DARK button puts the display to sleep. Only the time
and the temperature remain displayed.
- A s e c o n d p r e s s s w i t c h e s o f f t h e d i s p l a y a n d t h e i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l w i t h t h e
exception of the speedometer, its central display and the in formation on
automatic gearbox and cruise control / speed limiter if these ha ve been
activated.
Note: Timed lighting of functions if you:
- Press any of the display controls.
- Select Radio-CD.
- Operate any of the air conditioning controls.
All the displays light up if there is an alert.

T h e g e a r b o x a l w a y s s e l e c t s t h e
g e a r b e s t a d a p t e d t o t h e f o l l o w i n g
parameters:
- style of driving,
- r o u t e p r o i l e ,
- vehicle load.
The gearbox then operates in
a u t o m a t i c m o d e , w i t h o u t r e q u i r i n g
any action on your part.
Notes:
When braking, the gearbox
s h i f t s d o w n a u t o m a t i c a l l y t o o f f e r
effective engine braking.
The gearbox also enhances
your safety by not changing up
w h e n y o u l i f t y o u r f o o t f r o m t h e
accelerator abruptly.
To obtain maximum acceleration
w i t h o u t t o u c h i n g t h e l e v e r , p r e s s
r a p i d l y d o w n o n t h e a c c e l e r a t o r
p e d a l ( k i c k d o w n ) . T h e g e a r b o x
w i l l a u t o m a t i c a l l y c h a n g e d o w n o r
maintain the selected gear up to
maximum engine speed. A U T O M A T I C G E A R B O X
Warning:
- Never select N function if the
vehicle is moving.
- Never select P or R if the vehicle
is not stationary.
- Do not change from one function to another to try to improve
braking on a slippery surface.
I f , w h i l e t h e v e h i c l e i s m o v i n g ,
function N is engaged inadvertently,
let the engine idle before engaging
a function that is appropriate. Snow programme

programme, you have this special

A shift from D (automatic mode) to
M (sequential mode) is possible at
any time.
After selecting a gear, do not leave
your hand resting on the selector
for more than ten seconds ; risk of
cancelling the sequential function -

Any operational disturbance is

operate in emergency mode (third
g e a r i s b l o c k e d ) . Y o u w i l l f e e l a
s n a t c h i n g w h e n s h i f t i n g f r o m
P to
R and from N to R; this snatching
does no harm to your gearbox.
Do not exceed 100 km/h (approx.
0 mph).
