1.Check that you are in neutral.
2. Do not touch the accelerator.
3. For Diesel engines : turn the key as far as position M. Wait for the preheater warning lamp to go off if this has come on.
4. Action the starter by turning the key until the engine starts ( n o t m o r e t h a n t e n s e c o n d s ) .
5. In ambient temperatures low-er than 0°C, declutch during the action on the starter to fa-cilitate starting. Then remove your foot slowly from the clutch pedal.
NEVER RUN THE ENGINE IN A SPACE THAT IS ENCLOSED OR INSUFFICIENTLY VENTILATED.

Note : After the vehicle has had a prolonged stop or if the brake pedal has been applied several times when stationary, it is necessary to press the brake pedal fully down in order to authorise starting of the engine.
Advice
V e h i c l e s e q u i p p e d w i t h a t u r b o c h a r g e r
Never stop the engine without having allowed it to run for a few seconds at idle, this being the time required for t he turbocharger to return to a normal speed.
«Flicking the accelerator» at the moment of switching off the ignition could cause serious damage.
Note : I f t h e e n g i n e f a i l s t o s t a r t a t t h e fi r s t a t t e m p t , s w i t c h o f f t h e i g n i t i o n . W a i t t e n s e c o n d s , t h e n a c t i o n t h e s t a r t e r again as indicated above.

(Function for retaining ventilation with the engine switched off : REST function, continued…)
Engine stopped, ignition switched on :- The displays will light up, with the air blower shown empty as long as the function is available.- A press on the REST button activates the function for a timing of just a few minutes. Two blades of the b l o w e r w i l l fi l l t o s i g n i f y t h a t t h e f u n c t i o n i s a c t i v e .- It can be deactivated and reactivated during the timing.- At the end of the timing, the display will go off.
On stopping the engine :- The displays remain lit up, the blower is shown em pty and the function can be activated for 30 seconds.- A press on the REST button during the next 30 sec-onds activates the function for a timing of several min-utes. The duration and availability of the function are variable according to the state of charge of the battery (a protection to guarantee engine starting). Two blower b l a d e s fi l l u p t o s i g n i f y t h a t t h e f u n c t i o n i s a c t i v e . I t r e -mains active, even after the doors have been locked , until the end of the timing. - A f u r t h e r p r e s s b e f o r e t h e e n d o f t h e t i m i n g d e fi n i t i v e l y stops the function.
Note : This button does not activate the air conditioning, o n l y t h e a i r b l o w e r s . I n t h e R E S T f u n c t i o n , t h e a i r fl o w a n d distribution are controlled automatically and you c annot modify them.
4 - Adjustment of the air distribution- Press on button 4 s o t h a t t h e a i r fl o w s s c r o l l s u c c e s -sively on the display.
5 - Air recirculation
This button activates the recirculation of air within the passenger compartment and also has an automatic function.
The air distribution you have chosen is con- fi r m e d b y t h e l i g h t i n g o f t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g warning lamps in the display.
There are 7 possible adjustments.
Entry of air in automatic mode (activated by default, in automatic comfort regulation)
Automatic mode makes use of an air quality sensor. This analyses the air and isolates the passenger com-partment from the exterior as soon as it detects the presence of pollutants. Then it automatically activates recirculation of cabin air.

Closing of the air inlet
- Press on button 5 to close off the entry of air from outside.2
Whilst retaining the other adjustments, this position enables the driver at any time to exclude any disa-greeable odours or fumes coming from outside the vehicle.
It should be cancelled as soon as possible to permit renewal of cabin air and to prevent misting.
- Press once on button 5 to return to the initial status (entry of air in automatic mode).
Note : The airrecirculation can also be accessed by means of a press on the control located low down to one side of the steering wheel (see “Fixed centred controls steering wheel”).

- Press on button 5 to activate entry of air from the outside. The warning lamp goes out. 3

The rec eption qualit y of the radio station being listened to gradually deteriorates.
The vehicle is too distant from the transmitter, or no transmitter is present in the geographical area you are passing th rough.
Activate the RDS function to allow the system to chec k whether a more power ful transmitter is to be found in the geographical area.
The environment (hills, high buildings, tunnels, underground car parks, etc.) is blocking reception, even in RDS mode.This phenomenon is normal and does not imply anythi ng wrong with the radio.
The aerial is absent or has been damaged (for example after going through a car wash or in an underground car park).Have the aerial checked by a CITROËN dealer.
When the engine is not running, the radio stops after a few minutes.
When the engine is switched off, the working time fo r the radio depends on the batter y charge. The interruption is nor mal: the radio goes into economy mode, cutting off in order to save the vehicle’s batter y.
You have to star t the engine so as to increase the bat-ter y charge.
T h e m e s s a g e “ t h e a u d i o s y s t e m i s o v e r h e a t i n g ” a p p e a r s o n t h e screen.
In order to protect the audio equipment in excessiv e ambient temperatures, the radio goes into an automatic thermic protection mode which results in a reduction in sound volume or stopping of the CD player.
Switch off the audio system for a few minutes in order to allow the system to cool down.
Why is one not informed in real time of a hold-up on the route even though t h e o p t i o n f o r g u i d a n c e b y “ t r a f fi c i n f o ” is activated ?
When you star t up, the system takes a few minutes to c apture t h e t r a f fi c i n f o r m a t i o n v i a R D S - T M C . W a i t f o r t h e t r a f fi c i n f o r m a t i o n t o b e s a f e l y r e c e i v e d (pictogrammes displayed on the map) and make sure that you use the major ar terial roads to have “inform ed” navigation.
Only the major ar terial roads (motor ways and some d ual car- r i a g e w a y s ) a r e f e a t u r e d i n R D S - T M C t r a f fi c i n f o r m a t i o n ) .
I t m a y h a p p e n t h a t a h o l d - u p i s n o t r e p o r t e d b y t h e t r a f fi c i n f o provider.
Why is a diversion not suggested when I h a v e s e l e c t e d t r a f fi c i n f o ?
D o n o t c o n f u s e t h e “ t r a f fi c i n f o ” g u i d a n c e o p t i o n w h i c h c a n s u g -gest a diversion (the “diver t” button appears in the w indow) with t h e m e n u s “ D i s p l a y o f t r a f fi c m e s s a g e s ” o r “ R e a d i n g o f t r a f fi c messages” which af fect only the display without recalculating the itinerar y (no “diver t” button in the window).
To have “informed” navigation with the detour proposi-tion, it is essential to activate the guidance option with “ t r a f fi c i n f o ” .
