Auto Unlock On Exit Ð If Equipped
This feature unlocks all of the doors of the vehicle when
any door is opened (excluding the liftgate). This will
occur only after the vehicle has been shifted into the
PARK position after the vehicle has been driven (shifted
out of PARK and all doors closed).
This feature will not operate if there is any manual
operation of the power door locks (LOCK or UNLOCK).
Auto Unlock On Exit Programming Ð If Equipped
Customer programming sequence to enable or disable
the Auto Unlock feature:
²For vehicles equipped with the Electronic Vehicle
Information Center (EVIC), refer to ªPersonal Settings
(Customer Programmable Features)º under ªOver-
head Console with Electronic Vehicle Information
Center (EVIC) ± If Equippedº in Section 3.
²For vehicles not equipped with the EVIC, performing
the following procedure:
1. Enter your vehicle and close all doors.
2. Fasten your seat belt. Fastening the seat belt will
cancel any chimes that may be confusing during this
programming procedure.
3. Insert the key into the ignition.
4. Within 15 seconds, cycle the key from the LOCK
position to the ON position a minimum of four times,
ending in the LOCK position(do not start the engine).
5. Within 30 seconds, press the driver's door lock switch
in the UNLOCK direction.
6. A single chime will sound to indicate the feature has
been changed.
7. Repeat the above steps to alternate the availability of
this feature.

Be aware of changes in the sound of the exhaust system,
exhaust fumes detected inside the vehicle, or damage to
the underside or rear of the vehicle. Have a competent
mechanic inspect the complete exhaust system and adja-
cent body areas for broken, damaged, deteriorated or
mispositioned parts. Open seams or loose connections
could permit exhaust fumes to seep into the passenger
compartment. In addition, inspect the exhaust system
each time the vehicle is raised for lubrication or oil
change. Replace or adjust as required.
Safety Checks You Should Make Inside The
Vehicle
Heater Defroster Ducts
Inspect the heater defroster ducts for proper operation.
Check for proper airflow through all defroster ducts. If
there are any question regarding the operation of your
heater defroster ducts, have the system checked by an
authorized dealer.
Seat Belts
Inspect the belt system periodically, checking for cuts,
frays and loose parts. Damaged parts must be replaced
immediately. Do not disassemble or modify the system.
Seat belt assemblies must be replaced after an accident if
they have been damaged (bent retractor, torn webbing,
etc.) or if the front airbags have deployed. If there is any
question regarding belt or retractor condition, replace the
belt.
Airbag Light
The Airbag light should come on and remain on for six to
eight seconds as a bulb check when the ignition switch is
first turned ON. If the light is not lit during starting, see
your authorized dealer. If the light stays on, flickers or
comes on while driving, have the system checked by an
authorized dealer. If there is a problem with the airbag
light, the seat belt light will flash.

NOTE:
²You may not hear all of the tones due to cellular phone
network configurations; this is normal.
²Some paging and voice mail systems have system time
out settings that are too short and may not allow the
use of this feature.
Barge In - Overriding Prompts
The ªVoice Recognitionº button can be used when you
wish to skip part of a prompt and issue your voice
recognition command immediately. For example, if a
prompt is asking9Would you like to pair a phone, clear
a{,9you could press the ªVoice Recognitionº button and
say,9Pair a Phone9to select that option without having to
listen to the rest of the voice prompt.
Turning Confirmation Prompts On/Off
Turning confirmation prompts off will stop the system
from confirming your choices (e.g., the UConnecttsys-
tem will not repeat a phone number before you dial it).
²Press the PHONE button to begin.
²After the9Ready9prompt and the following beep, say
9Setup Confirmations.9The UConnecttsystem will
play the current confirmation prompt status and you
will be given the choice to change it.
Phone and Network Status Indicators
If available on the radio and/or on a premium display
such as the instrument panel cluster, and supported by
your cell phone, the UConnecttsystem will provide
notification to inform you of your phone and network
status when you are attempting to make a phone call
using UConnectt. The status is given for roaming, net-
work signal strength, phone battery strength, etc.
Dialing Using the Cellular Phone Keypad
You can dial a phone number with your cellular phone
keypad and still use the UConnecttsystem (while dial-
ing via the cell phone keypad, the user must exercise
caution and take precautionary safety measures). By

If you ever wish to interrupt the system while it lists
options, press the VR hard-key, listen for the beep, and
say your command.
Pressing the VR hard-key while the system is speaking is
known as ªbarging in.º The system will be interrupted
and you can add or change commands. This will become
helpful once you start to learn the options.
NOTE:At any time, you can say the words CANCEL,
HELP, or MAIN MENU.
These commands are universal and can be used from any
menu. All other commands can be used depending upon
the active application.
For example, if you are in the disc menu and you are
listening to FM radio, you can speak commands from the
disc menu or from the FM radio menu.
When using this system, you should speak clearly and at
a normal speaking volume.The system will best recognize your speech if the win-
dows are closed, and the heater/air-conditioning fan is
set to low.
At any point, if the system does not recognize one of your
commands, you will be prompted to repeat it.
To hear the first available Menu, press the VR hard-key
and say HELP or MAIN MENU.
Commands
The Voice Recognition System understands two types of
commands. Global commands are available at all times.
Local commands are available if the supported radio
mode is active.
Changing the Volume
1. Start a dialogue by pressing the VR hard-key.
2. Say a command (e.g., HELP).

With the ignition switch in the RUN position, depressing
the heated seat switch rocker to its momentary high or
low position provides power to the heated seat element
and maintains the requested temperature setting. If the
heated seat switch is depressed to a different position
(low or high) than the currently selected state, the re-
quested temperature setting will change to a new selec-
tion. If the heated seat switch is depressed a second time
to the same position as the currently selected state, the
seat heater will turn off.
The controls for the second row heated seats are located
on the center console between the second row seats.
Each heated seat switch has two settings (HI and LO).
Press the switch once to obtain high heat level, then press
the switch again to obtain low heat level. Pressing the
switch a third time will turn the heated seats off. If you
do not purposefully turn the switch off, the seat heating
level will automatically change to the next lower level, or

Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) Ð If
Equipped
Pressing the MENU button will change the
display to one of the following features:
Trip Functions
Pressing the STEP button allows you to scroll through
one of the following Trip Function features:
²TRIP ± Shows the total distance traveled since the last
reset. To reset the TRIP function, press and hold the
RESET button.
²ELAPSED TIME ± Shows the total elapsed time of
travel since the last reset. Elapsed time will increment
when the ignition switch is in the ON/RUN or START
positions.
²UNIT IN U.S./METRIC ± Press the RESET button to
toggle between U.S. and METRIC.
²AVG. MPG ± Shows the average fuel economy since
the last reset. When the fuel economy is reset, the
display will show dashes for two seconds. Then the
history information will be erased, and theaveraging
will continue from the last fuel average readingHG EVIC

before the reset. (Example: If your EVIC displays 18
AVG. MPG and the RESET button is pressed, the
previous averaging history will be erased and the
display will return to the 18 AVG. MPG, not to 0 AVG.
MPG). The display may take several miles/kilometers
for the value to change, depending upon driving
habits. If equipped with a 5.7L engine and Multi
Displacement System (MDS), FUEL SAVER may be
displayed along with the actual AVG. MPG. If
equipped with MDS option, the EVIC will display
FUEL SAVER when in fuel economy mode.
²MI TO EMPTY (Distance To Empty) ± Shows the
estimated distance that can be traveled with the fuel
remaining in the tank. This estimated distance is
determined by a weighted average of fuel economy,
according to the current fuel tank level. MI TO EMPTY
cannot be reset through the RESET button.NOTE:Significant changes in driving style or vehicle
loading will greatly affect the actual drivable distance of
the vehicle, regardless of the DTE displayed value.
²When the DTE value is less than 30 miles (48 km)
estimated driving distance, the DTE display will
change to a text display of9LOW FUEL.9This display
will continue until the vehicle runs out of fuel. Adding
a significant amount of fuel to the vehicle will turn off
the9LOW FUEL9text and a new DTE value will
display.
²Global Reset ± If the RESET button is pressed twice
within two seconds while in any of the three resettable
displays (AVG. MPG, ET (ELAPSED TIME) and TRIP),
all three displays will be reset.
System Status (EVIC Displays)
When the appropriate conditions exist, the EVIC displays
the following messages:

OIL CHANGE REQUIRED Ð If Equipped
Your vehicle is equipped with an engine oil change
indicator system. The ªOil Change Requiredº message
will flash in the EVIC display for approximately 10
seconds after a single chime has sounded to indicate the
next scheduled oil change interval. The engine oil change
indicator system is duty cycle based, which means the
engine oil change interval may fluctuate dependent upon
your personal driving style.
Unless reset, this message will continue to display each
time you turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN
position. To turn off the message temporarily, press and
release the MENU button. To reset the oil change indica-
tor system (after performing the scheduled maintenance),
refer to the following procedure.
