Wherever you are seated in the
vehicle, always fasten your seat belt,

T h e s e a t b e l t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n i n e r t i a
reel which automatically adjusts the
l e n g t h o f t h e s t r a p t o y o u r s i z e . T h e
seat belt is rolled up automatically
w h e n n o t i n u s e .
Ensure that the seat belt is rolled up
c o r r e c t l y a f t e r u s e .
After folding or moving a rear seat or
bench seat, ensure that the seat belt is
rolled up correctly in its compartment
and that the buckle is ready to
a c c o m m o d a t e t h e t o n g u e .

seriousness of any impact, the
pretensioning device may be triggered

belts
The row 2 rear centre seat and the
rear bench seat centre seat have an
integrated three-point inertia reel seat
b e l t .
The air bag warning light comes on

In order to be effective, a seat belt
must:
- restrain one person only,
- must not be twisted, check by pulling in front of you with an even
movement,
- be tightened as close to the body a s p o s s i b l e .
The upper part of the seat belt should
be positioned in the hollow of the
s h o u l d e r .
The lap part should be placed as low
a s p o s s i b l e o n t h e p e l v i s . Recommendations for children:
- use a suitable child seat if the
passenger is less than 12 years old
o r s h o r t e r t h a n o n e m e t r e fi f t y ,
- never allow a child to travel on your lap, even with the seat belt
f a s t e n e d .

In accordance with current safety
regulations, your CITROËN dealer
guarantees all work or any checks,
from testing to maintenance, on your
s e a t b e l t e q u i p m e n t .
Have the seat belts checked regularly
(even after a minor impact) by a
CITROËN dealer : they must not show
any signs of wear, cutting or fraying
and they must not be transformed or
m o d i fi e d .
Clean the seat belt straps with soapy
water or a textile cleaning product, sold

seats of rows 2 and 3) in the event
of a serious collision; they work in
conjunction with the force limiting seat
b e l t s .
In the event of a serious collision, the
electronic detectors record and analyse
the front and side impacts suffered in
the impact detection zones:
- in the event of a serious impact, t h e a i r b a g s i n fl a t e i n s t a n t l y a n d
protect the occupants of the
v e h i c l e .
Immediately after the impact, the air
b a g s d e fl a t e r a p i d l y , s o t h a t t h e y d o n o t
hinder the visibility of the occupants

impact and in certain roll-over
conditions, the air bags will not
be deployed; the seat belt alone

The seriousness of the collision
depends on the nature of the obstacle
and the speed of the vehicle at the
m o m e n t o f i m p a c t . Air bags only operate when the

If a second impact occurs (during the
same or a subsequent accident), the
a i r b a g w i l l n o t o p e r a t e .

Disarming
The passenger's front air bag alone can be disarmed:
With the ignition switched off, insert the key into the passenger air bag disarming switch,
turn it to the "OFF" position,
then remove the key keeping the s l o t i n t h i s p o s i t i o n .
Front air bags
The front air bags are incorporated in the
centre of the steering wheel for the driver
a n d i n t h e f a s c i a f o r t h e f r o n t p a s s e n g e r .
Front air bag fault
If this warning light comes on, accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the display, consult a CITROËN signal and a message on the signal and a message on the
dealer to have the system c h e c k e d .
Reactivation
In the "OFF" position, the passenger air bag will not be triggered in the e v e n t o f a n i m p a c t .
As soon as the child seat is removed, turn the air bag slot to the "ON"position to re-activate the air bag and thus ensure the safety of your p a s s e n g e r i n t h e e v e n t o f a n i m p a c t .
To ensure the safety of your child, it is essential to disarm the passenger air bag when you install a rear-facing child seat on the front p a s s e n g e r s e a t . O t h e r w i s e , t h e c h i l d would risk being killed or seriously i n j u r e d i f t h e a i r b a g w e r e t o i n fl a t e .
The air bag warning light on the instrument panel is lit throughout the period of d i s a r m i n g .

Activation
They are deployed simultaneously, unless the passenger's front air bag has been disarmed, in the event of a serious front impact applied to all or part of the front impact zone A in the longitudinal centreline of the vehicle on a horizontal plane directed from the f r o n t t o w a r d s t h e r e a r o f t h e v e h i c l e .
T h e f r o n t a i r b a g i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n the front occupant of the vehicle and the fascia to cushion his forward m o v e m e n t .

GENERAL POINTS RELATING
TO CHILD SEATS
Although one of CITROËN's main
criteria when designing your vehicle,
the safety of your children also
d e p e n d s o n y o u .
For maximum safety, please follow
these precautions:
- i n a c c o r d a n c e w i t h D i r e c t i v e 2003/20, all children under the age
o f 1 2 o r l e s s t h a n o n e m e t r e fi f t y t a l l
must travel in approved child seats
suited to their weight, on seats

- statistically, the safest seats in your vehicle for the transportation of
children are the rear seats,
- a child weighing less than 9 kg must travel in the "rearwards-
facing" position both in the front

When a "rearwards-facing" child seat is
installed on the front passenger seat, it
is essential that the passenger air bag
i s d i s a r m e d . O t h e r w i s e , t h e c h i l d w o u l d
risk being seriously injured or killed if
t h e a i r b a g w e r e t o i n fl a t e .
"Forwards-facing"
When a "forwards-facing" child seat is
installed on the front passenger seat,

INSTALLING A CHILD SEAT USING A THREE POINT SEAT BELT
