towing or accident.
Automatic lighting of hazard
warning lights
When braking in an emergency,
d e p e n d i n g o n t h e d e c e l e r a t i o n , t h e
hazard warning lights come on.
They will switch off automatically the
fi r s t t i m e y o u a c c e l e r a t e .
I f t h e y d o n o t , p r e s s b u t t o n A to
switch the direction indicators off.

Audible warning to alert other road
users to an imminent danger.
Selection of the left or right direction
indicators to signal a change of di-
rection of the vehicle.

Use the horn moderately and only

Activation
The anti-lock braking system comes

there is a risk of wheel lock.
N o r m a l o p e r a t i o n o f t h e A B S m a y
make itself felt by slight vibration of
t h e b r a k e p e d a l . Operating fault
When braking in an emergency,

t h e p r e s s u r e . If this warning light comes
o n , a c c o m p a n i e d b y a n a u -
dible signal and a message
o n t h e i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l d i s -
p l a y , i t i n d i c a t e s a m a l f u n c t i o n o f t h e
anti-lock braking system which could
result in loss of control of the vehicle
when braking.
If this warning light comes
on, together with the STOP
and ABS warning lights, ac-
c o m p a n i e d b y a n a u d i b l e
signal and a message on the instru-
m e n t p a n e l d i s p l a y , i t i n d i c a t e s a
malfunction of the electronic brake
force distribution which could result
in loss of control of the vehicle when
braking.
You MUST stop as soon as it is
safe to do so.
In both cases, contact a CITROËN
dealer.
W h e n r e p l a c i n g w h e e l s ( t y r e s a n d
rims), ensure that they conform to
the manufacturer's recommenda-
tions. Emergency braking assistance
System which, in an emergency,

r e d u c i n g t h e s t o p p i n g d i s t a n c e .
Activation

The effect of this is a reduction in
t h e r e s i s t a n c e o f t h e p e d a l a n d a n
i n c r e a s e i n b r a k i n g e f fi c i e n c y .

Deactivation
This warning light comes on
o n t h e r o o f c o n s o l e d i s p l a y
when the ignition is on and
until the air bag is re-armed.
To guarantee the safety of your child,
i t i s i m p e r a t i v e t h a t t h e p a s s e n g e r
air bag is disarmed when you install
a "rearwards-facing" child seat on
t h e f r o n t p a s s e n g e r s e a t .
Otherwise, the child would risk be-
ing seriously injured or killed if the
air bag were triggered. Activation
When you remove the child seat,
turn switch
1 to the "ON" p o s i t i o n t o
re-arm the air bag and so guarantee
t h e s a f e t y o f y o u r f r o n t p a s s e n g e r i n
t h e e v e n t o f a n i m p a c t .
Operating fault
I f t h i s s y m b o l a p p e a r s o n
t h e i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l d i s -
p l a y , a c c o m p a n i e d b y a n
audible warning and a mes-
sage, contact a CITROËN dealer to
have the system checked. The air
bags may no longer be triggered in
t h e e v e n t o f a s e r i o u s i m p a c t .
O n l y t h e f r o n t p a s s e n g e r ' s a i r b a g
can be disarmed:
with the ignition off , insert the
k e y i n t h e p a s s e n g e r a i r b a g d i s -
arming switch 1 ,
turn it to the "OFF" p o s i t i o n ,
t h e n , r e m o v e t h e k e y k e e p i n g
t h e s w i t c h i n t h i s p o s i t i o n . I f t h i s w a r n i n g l i g h t fl a s h e s ,
contact a CITROËN dealer.
If both air bag warning lights come
on continuously, do not install a
"rearwards-facing" child seat on
t h e f r o n t p a s s e n g e r s e a t .
