Using the lever
Push the lever forwards to change up.
Pull the lever backwards to change
down.
Using the control paddles behind the
steering wheel
Press the "+" or "-" control paddle be-
hind the steering wheel for an immediate
gear change up or down respectively.
Under heavy acceleration, a higher
gear will only be engaged if the driver
operates the gear lever or the controls
on the steering wheel.

Indicator and warning lamps
When the ignition is switched on
The warning lamps come on for a
few seconds when the vehicle's igni-
tion is switched on.
When the engine is started, these
warning lamps should switch off.
If they remain on, before moving off,
consult information on the warning
lamp concerned. Associated warnings
The switching on of certain warning
lamps may be accompanied by an
audible signal and a message on
the multifunction screen.
The warning lamps may come on
c o n t i n u o u s l y o r fl a s h .
Certain warning lamps may come
on in two different modes. Only by
relating the type of lighting to the
operation of the vehicle can it be
ascertained whether the situation
is normal or whether a fault has oc-
curred. Operation indicator lamps
If one of the following indicator
l a m p s c o m e s o n , t h i s c o n fi r m s t h a t
the corresponding system has come
into operation.
Front fog lamps.
Left-hand direction
indicator.
Sidelamps.
Main beam headlamps.
Dipped headlamps.
Right-hand direction
indicator.
Rear fog lamp.
Visual indicators informing the driver
that a system is in operation (opera-
tion or deactivation indicator lamps) or
of the occurrence of a fault (warning
lamp).

lamp on the display informs
you that you need to press
the brake pedal in order to
be able to start the engine on a ve-
hicle with the (6-speed) Electronic
Gearbox System, or to move out of
position P in the case of an automat-
ic gearbox.
I t m a y a l s o fl a s h t o p r o m p t y o u t o
brake when engaging reverse gear.
In the case of the Electronic Gearbox
S y s t e m , t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s t o
indicate overheating of the clutch if
you use the accelerator excessively
to hold the vehicle on an uphill slope.
Use the brake pedal instead.
Electric child lock
If lit, the child lock is acti-
vated. This warning lamp is
displayed for a few seconds
after the function is activated. Deactivation warning lamps
If one of the following warning lamps
c o m e s o n , t h i s c o n fi r m s t h a t t h e
corresponding system has been
switched off intentionally.

Dynamic stability control
(ESP/ASR) deactivation
The ESP/ASR system is put
into service automatically
when the vehicle is started.
A s p e c i fi c b u t t o n , l o c a t e d i n t h e c e n -
tre of the fascia, permits deactiva-
t i o n o f t h e s y s t e m . T h i s i s c o n fi r m e d
by continuous lighting of this warn-
ing lamp and of the indicator light on
the button.
From approximately 30 mph (50 km/h),
the system is reactivated automatically. Warning lamps
Diesel engine pre-heating
Wait until this has gone out before
operating the starter.
The passenger's air bag
system is put into service
automatically when the ve-
hicle is started.
A s p e c i fi c c o n t r o l , l o c a t e d i n t h e g l o v e
box, permits deactivation of the sys-
t e m . T h i s i s c o n fi r m e d b y c o n t i n u o u s
lighting of this warning lamp on the
instrument panel or a message on
the NaviDrive multifunction screen. When the engine is running or the
vehicle is moving, the lighting of
one of the following warning lamps
indicates the occurrence of a fault
requiring action on the part of the
driver.
Any fault resulting in the displaying
of a warning lamp must be investi-
gated further by reading the associ-
ated message on the multifunction
display.

that the temperature in the
cooling system is too high.
Stop the vehicle as soon as
it is safe to do so.
Low fuel level When the tank is full, all the
bars are lit.
If the fuel low warning lamp
comes on accompanied by
an audible signal and a message on
the multifunction screen, there are ap-
proximately 7 litres of fuel remaining
in the tank and 2 or 3 bars are lit.
When the last bar goes out, there
are approximately 2 litres of fuel re-
maining in the tank.
Lighting is associated
with the lighting of an-
other warning lamp:
Service If this comes on, it indi-
cates the occurrence
of a problem in one
of the systems which
does not have a spe-
c i fi c w a r n i n g l a m p .
It is accompanied by a message on
the multifunction display.
The warning lamp comes on tempo-
rarily in the case of minor faults.
In the case of major faults, the warn-
ing lamp remains on until the op-
e r a t i n g f a u l t i s r e c t i fi e d . C o n t a c t a
CITROËN dealer as soon as pos-
sible. Braking
If this comes on, it indicates
the occurrence of a fault in
one of the braking systems:
- s i g n i fi c a n t d r o p i n t h e fl u i d l e v e l in the circuit,
- electronic brake force distribu- tion (EBFD) faulty (simultane-
ous lighting of the ABS warning
lamp),
stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe
to do so.
Contact a CITROËN dealer.
Dynamic stability control
(ESP/ASR).
The ESP/ASR system is put
into service automatically
when the vehicle is started.
Unless the system has been de-
activated, if this warning lamp and
the indicator lamp on the button
come on continuously, this indi-
cates the occurrence of a fault in the
ESP/ASR system or in the hill start
assistance. Engine autodiagnostics system
If this comes on, it indicates
the occurrence of a fault in
the engine management
system.
I f i t fl a s h e s , i t i n d i c a t e s t h e o c c u r -
rence of a fault in the emission con-
trol system.
Central alert
- punctured wheel,
- braking,
- coolant temperature,
stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe
to do so.
Contact a CITROËN dealer.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS) If this comes on, it indicates
the occurrence of a fault in
the anti-lock braking system.
However, this does not prevent op-
eration of the vehicle's servo-assist-
ed braking system.
