2. Load-space cover
To install it:
- position the front ends of the load space cover on its support and press gently to put it in place,
- unfold the load space cover fully,
- position the rear ends of the load space cover on its support and press gently to put it in place.
To remove it:
- unclip the rear ends,
- fold the load space cover fully,
- unclip the front ends and remove the load space cover.
To store it, fold it like an accordion. Do not roll it . 3. Stowing rings

T h e h i g h l o a d r e t a i n i n g n e t c a n b e fi t t e d behind the front or rear seats.
Open the covers A of the correspond-ing upper fastenings.
Fit the ends of the metal bar in these fastenings.
Secure the two net strap hooks be-hind the front seats, with the rear seat folded, or in the stowing rings B o n t h e fl o o r .
The rings are located directly below the corresponding upper fastenings.
Pull the two straps C taut.

FRONT AIR BAGS
These are folded in the centre of the
steering wheel for the driver and in
the fascia for the front passenger.
They are deployed simultaneously,
except in cases where the passen-
ger air bag is disarmed, in the event
of a serious front impact applied in
the impact zone A in the longitudinal
centreline of the vehicle, on a hori-
zontal plane and from the front of the
vehicle towards the rear. The air bag
i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n t h e f r o n t o c c u p a n t o f
the vehicle and the fascia to cushion
his forward movement. The air bags
therefore limit the risk of injury to the
head and chest.
The air bags have been designed to
maximise the safety of the occupants
in the event of serious collisions. They
work in conjunction with the force-
limiting seat belts. The electronic de-
tectors register and analyse any abrupt
deceleration of the vehicle in the im-
pact detection zones (see diagram): if
the triggering threshold is reached, the
a i r b a g s i n fl a t e i n s t a n t l y a n d p r o t e c t
the occupants of the vehicle.
Impact detection zones
A. Front impact zone.
B. Side impact zone. Immediately after the impact, the air
b a g s d e fl a t e r a p i d l y s o t h a t t h e y d o
not hinder the visibility of the occu-
pants nor their exit if necessary from
the vehicle.
The air bags are not deployed in the
case of minor impacts, rear impacts
or in certain roll-over conditions. The
s e a t b e l t i s s u f fi c i e n t t o e n s u r e m a x i -
mum protection in these situations.
The seriousness of a collision de-
pends on the nature of the obstacle
and the speed of the vehicle at the
moment of the collision.

Note: the gas escaping from
the air bags can be a minor
irritant.

and wait in a safe location.

Refitting the wheel
- After positioning the wheel, lightly
p r e - t i g h t e n t h e b o l t s u s i n g t h e
wheelbrace.
- C o m p r e s s t h e j a c k a n d r e l e a s e i t .
- F u l l y t i g h t e n t h e b o l t s u s i n g t h e wheelbrace.
- Replace the trim, starting at the valve passage hole, and press it
o n u s i n g t h e p a l m o f t h e h a n d . Replacing the wheel in the
carrier
- Replace the chock
2 in the wheel.
- Replace the wheel in the carrier.
- Lift the wheel then the carrier and reposition the hook.
- D o n o t f o r g e t t o f u l l y t i g h t e n t h e spare wheel carrier retaining bolt.
- Stow the wheelbrace 1 and the
j a c k .
After changing the wheel
- Have the tightening of the bolts a n d t h e p r e s s u r e o f t h e s p a r e t y r e
checked as soon as possible by a
CITROËN dealer.
- H a v e t h e p u n c t u r e d t y r e r e p a i r e d and replace it on the vehicle as
soon as possible.

SNOW SCREEN *
The snow screen is installed on the
l o w e r p a r t o f t h e f r o n t b u m p e r t o p r e -
v e n t t h e a c c u m u l a t i o n o f s n o w a t t h e
radiator cooling fan.
Remove the snow screen:
- w h e n t h e e x t e r i o r t e m p e r a t u r e i s higher than 10 °C,
- when towing,
- f o r s p e e d s h i g h e r t h a n 7 5 m p h (120 km/h).

Distribution of loads: D i s t r i b u t e t h e
load in the trailer so that the heaviest
items are as close as possible to the
axle and the nose weight approaches

Tyres: C h e c k t h e t y r e p r e s s u r e s o f
the towing vehicle and of the trailer,
observing the recommended pres-

Braking: Towing increases the braking
distance.
Lights: Check the electrical signalling
on the trailer.
Side wind: T a k e i n t o a c c o u n t t h e i n -
creased sensitivity to side wind.
Cooling: Towing a trailer on a slope
i n c r e a s e s t h e t e m p e r a t u r e o f t h e
coolant.
As the fan is electrically controlled,
its cooling capacity is not dependent
on the engine speed.
O n t h e c o n t r a r y , u s e a h i g h g e a r t o
l o w e r t h e e n g i n e s p e e d a n d r e d u c e
y o u r s p e e d .
T h e m a x i m u m t o w i n g l o a d o n a l o n g
slope depends on the gradient and
t h e o u t s i d e t e m p e r a t u r e .
In all cases, pay attention to the coolant
t e m p e r a t u r e .
I n c e r t a i n c a s e s o f p a r t i c u l a r l y a r d u o u s
u s e ( t o w i n g t h e m a x i m u m l o a d o n a
s t e e p g r a d i e n t i n h i g h t e m p e r a t u r e s ) ,
switching off the air conditioning
permits the recovery of engine pow-
er and therefore an increase in the
towing capacity.
If the warning light comes on, stop
the vehicle and switch off the engine
as soon as possible.
