You Are Entitled to Three
Complimentary Oil Changes
for Your 2007 Scion
These oil changes must be obtained within 3 years or 36,000 miles
(whichever occurs first) of your vehicle’s original inservice date.
To set up an appointment for a complimentary oil change, call your
Scion dealership or participating Toyota dealership. See page 2 to
determine how often you should change your vehicle’s oil.
After performing a complimentary oil change, the dealership will
complete one of the boxes below. Remember that changing the oil
is just one of the maintenance services that should be performed
regularly on your Scion. Make sure that all the other services rec
ommended in this booklet are performed on your car as well.
Please note that you are responsible for the cost of any other ser
vices performed at the time of your complimentary oil changes,
including other maintenance services listed in the scheduled
maintenance log.

sure it keeps going. That’s where scheduled maintenance
comes in. Taking your car in for regular service will help your
ride run better and last longer. It will keep your repair bills down, too.
This booklet makes it easy to keep your Scion running smoothly. It lists
all the factoryrecommended services and tells you when your vehicle
needs them. Be sure to look this booklet over carefully and keep it in
your glove box. Do what it says and your Scion should be happy for
many miles to come.
Complimentary Oil Changes
Tohelp you get started with regular maintenance, Scion provides your
vehicle’s first three oil changes on a complimentary basis. To find out
how to obtain your complimentary oil changes, see page 3.
Remember that changing the oil is just one of the maintenance servic
es that should be performed regularlyon your Scion. Make sure that all
the other services recommended in this booklet are performed on your
car as well.
Put It In Writing
To help you keep track of your Scion’s service history, each mainte
nance chart in this booklet includes:
› Boxes to check for each service item performed
›Space for the maintenance provider to include a service
verification stamp
›Space to write the date and mileage that service is performed
Documenting your service history may make your car worth more when
you’re ready to sell. There’s a reason smart people write things down.
In addition to scheduled maintenance, your vehicle requires
general maintenancesuch as fluid checks and visual inspections.
These procedures are explained in the “Vehicle Maintenance and
Care” section of the
Owner’s Manual.To keep your Scion out of
trouble, be sure to perform these procedures regularly.

›› Maintenance & Scion Warranty Coverage ‹‹
Maintenance Records
To make sure your warranty coverage stays intact, you need to maintain
your Scion according to the recommendations in this booklet. You should
keep records of vehicle maintenance, including date and mileage at
time of service and a description of service items performed and parts
installed. The scheduled maintenance log can help you keep track of
this information. If you sell your car, be sure to give your maintenance
records to the new owner.
Scion will not deny a warranty claim solely because you don’t have
records to show that you maintained your vehicle. However, damage or
failures caused by lack of proper maintenance are not covered under
warranty.
Maintenance Providers
You can have maintenance and repair services done by any automotive
service provider you choose, or you can do them yourself. Scion won’t
deny a warranty claim solely because you used a service provider other
than a Scion dealership for maintenance and repairs. However, damage
or failures caused by improper maintenance or repairs are not covered
under warranty.
Note: Only Scion dealerships and Toyota dealerships are authorized to
provide warranty service/repairs for your Scion.
DealerRecommended Maintenance
Your dealer may recommend more frequent maintenance intervals or
more maintenance services than those listed in the scheduled mainte
nance log. You don’t need to have these additional services performed
to maintain your warranty coverage. Ask your dealer to explain any
recommended maintenance that is not included in the scheduled
maintenance log.

›› Using the Maintenance Log Charts
Miles or Months?
Scion recommends obtaining scheduled maintenance for your vehicle
every 5,000 miles or six months, whichever comes first.
For example:
›If you drive 5,000 miles in less than six months, you should obtain
maintenance at
5,000 miles— don’t wait until six months.
›If at six months you have driven less than 5,000 miles, you should
obtain maintenance at
six months— don’t wait until 5,000 miles.
Be sure to keep an eye on your mileage so that you obtain maintenance
when recommended. If you are a lowmileage driver, mark your calen
dar to remind yourself to obtain maintenance every six months.
Special Operating Conditions
In addition to standard maintenance items, the maintenance log indi
cates services that should be performed on vehicles that are driven
under especially demanding conditions. These “special operating con
ditions” and their required maintenance items are clearly indicated in
each chart.
Note: You should perform these additional maintenance services if you
drive
primarilyunder any of the special operating conditions indicated.
If you drive only occasionally under these conditions, it is not necessaryto perform the additional services.

To help you get started with regular maintenance, Scion provides your
vehicle’s first three oil changes on a complimentary basis. While they
don’t have to be your initial three oil changes, the oil changes must be
obtained within 3 years or 36,000 miles (whichever occurs first) of your
vehicle’s original inservice date. If you bought your Scion used and the
previous owner did not use all three oil changes, you are entitled to the
remaining complimentary oil changes if your car is still within 3 years
or 36,000 miles of its original inservice date.
To obtain a complimentary oil change, call a Scion dealership or partici
pating Toyota dealership to make an appointment. The dealership will
verify that the service was performed by completing one of the boxes
on the inside back cover of this booklet.
Complimentary oil changes include change of engine oil and oil filter
only. You are responsible for the cost of any other services performed
at the time of your complimentary oil changes, including other mainte
nance services listed in the scheduled maintenance log.
